It's been a couple of years since I hiked the wainwrights coast to coast, and in that time I've received lots of messages from people attempting to do the same hike after watching my videos. I thought I'd put together a video to help people who are contemplating tackling the hike in the future. I hope it prooves useful for someone at some point.
As always, thank you for watching.

I had to re-upload this video in HD as unfortunately the first effort looked like it was filmed on a deep fried badger bollock. I'd like this video to be around for a while to help those attempting the coast to coast so thought I'd better re-upload it. Thank you for the kind words and I hope you're all keeping well. Much love - Hazy

Years ago.. When I started hiking again I got a book about ultra light hiking 🤣🤣 I read it and just put it away.. this guy had like 9lb base weight.. a half toothbrush, a tyvek tarp thingy and I can’t even remember what other ridiculous stuff.. I don’t care how bad my back is at this point, I’m going to carry the kit that lets me be comfortable 🤣 if you can’t sleep comfy you’re going to be miserable. As always, love to hear from you Hon..I really enjoyed your hike videos, it’s nice to have some commentary. Thanks for sharing ATB ~Ruth

Exactly my thoughts!!! I'm all for reducing some weight - I did a brief camp out on new year's eve where I was just under a mile from the car, I brought a whole load of creature comforts including some booze, lots of food etc. My pack was in excess of 30kg, not something I'm keen on repeating for any great distance, but it was uncomfortably doable. Of course, for a long hike I'd strip loads of weight out, but there's no way I can be arsed to get down to 9lbs if I plan on enjoying myself.

Watching your coast to coast video was what spurred me and my partner on to do the walk back in 2019. We didnt have any experience and were quite naive about it, no training, never camped and took 4 gas canisters haha! We've since found a love for wild camping and long hikes. You are absolutely right. It was one of the best things we've ever done. No hike we've done since has topped that experience. Thank you for your videos!!

if i had watched this in 1979 before I carried 42 pounds in 8.5 days with 3 others that fell out and split up when my mate sprained his ankle and me and him took an easier route so he could finish, I would have enjoyed it. It was still an acheivement, but I didnt ENJOY it. Listen to this man, he knows stuff. I am going to do it again, age 66, and this time I will put that right. Love this! Another tip, take vasaline and take baby powder. Every time I let my feet breathe I wack babypowder there to dry them out quicker. This is also good for super wet or super humid hikes, whack it on the back of your knees, elbow creases and underarms to stop natsy skin infections from constant damp. Also, vasaline your feet before you put your sock on, it helps with friction 👍
@michaelpepper7230
@michaelpepper7230 3 года назад
Beca another good thing to put on sore wet feet is any sunscreen with a lover in it, its an old army trick. The only thing we got plenty of was sunscreen. So I reckon alovera would be the go for your feet nowadays. The vaso tip works too.
