@ 9:25 "tip of Baker" nah, perhaps Hood, St Helens, Adams....but perhaps I've lost my bearings. It has been 20 yrs since I was on Granite Mtn ;-) I've been laid up with a foot injury and appreciate being able to 'hike' with you in your videos ! thank you

Thank you! The cascades in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness are top notch! Looking forward to many more summits in that region. :)

Beautiful day to go. I haven't done that route so it was fun to see. Nice slide!

When we first did that route, last year, there was no snow. But there was only 5ft of visibility from the fog/clouds. Boulder scrambling along that edge was...an edgy experience. :)

I've definitely been enjoying a couple of your videos, please keep on hiking and filming! two things: 1) I cannot believe you hike so much without sunglasses lol 2) first time I've seen those hiking poles doing anything more than hang out on your packs!!!

This winter, I really want to get some sunglasses for the snow. I don't have a problem with sun during the summer. My hat and deep set eyes pretty much take care of it. But when the light is reflecting up the snow as well, it's a bit of a pain. And the trekking poles...well, they always get used when we head back down. I just typically will not use them on the hike up unless there is snow and I need the stability. Thanks for watching! :D

Specifically on this Granite Mountain hike, everyone that is able to do so (probably with kids over the age of 10 at a minimum) should try to take the path up the boulder ridge. The boulder hopping is my favorite part of the hike by far. If you go late season (July 15+) you will find a LOT of wild berries along the trail.

I don't say that is what really has happened but at 11:39 it looks like those rocks were broken to pieces by somebody and piled up there . Wonder geologically what has happened to those granite rocks?!, Glaciers did it ? how?!

Sadly, this was the one year I did not visit the San Juan Islands. I've been everywhere on that island but Mt Young! Thanks, I will have to add it to the todos for our next visit. :)

Outside & Stuff Did you need training for the ridge. I did the other route that went around the bolder field.

Non hiker from Texas: How do you know when the snow is packed well enough to not just slide away?

I went last weekend, it was decent, just make sure you watch your step on the snow

You are driving way too fast...looks to be a way too popular location. How embarrassing to upload a muted video.
@OutsideAndStuff

It's definitely one of the more popular hikes in the area. That's a thing you have to deal with when you pick a hike that's one hour outside of Seattle.
