The lake you hiked to (at about 12:00 mark) is Lewis Lake (maybe you know that by now). I camped there a few years ago. As to the boulder-hopping route to get there, at the time, I said to myself, "I think once is enough for this lake." Beautiful place. Crappy hike across all those rocks with a full pack though. Loving this channel!

Welcome back. I hiked Maple pass loop this summer. After I watched this video, I really want to go back there to see beautiful fall colours. Thank you for sharing.

It's one of the most beautiful places to see them in Washington. Unfortunately, I am guessing it's all under snow at this point. Going to have to wait till next year. :)

Noticed the new vid about 45 mins after you posted..... NOW I have the "Bell" clicked so I get notified! I've never done that trail, but I can see now that I have to get back in shape to at least try it. Still have good health for 65, but stamina is in the ditch. Thanks for the inspiration! I did hear about a month ago, a young man (19 I think) died from injuries out there by Wing Lake, before they could get help to him. It's a great place to have a lot of fun and enjoy this wonderful home we call "Planet Earth"; but certain areas are no place for horseplay or thinking you're invincible. You guys be Safe out there... (gotta keep the vids coming!) Now... to the rest of the vid!

Within one minute of going back to watching the rest of the vid.... I hit the part of you guys discussing too much sitting around drinking beer and watching RU-vid! Sitting here sipping a Drambuie and YouTubing myself... I had lost about 50 lbs since this time last year, in the last few months... I've found about 15 of it! :-( Gotta hit the gym!

If he was going for Black Peak, I could definitely see multiple ways to injure yourself. Heck, the boulder hopping alone is enough to break a leg/ankle or have one roll on top and get stuck/crushed in them. But. I try not to think about that too much. :)

Great video, that loop has been and always will be a favorite of mine. Been a few years now since i've hiked it. Unfortunately its gotten to be way over popular.

Wow, thanks for sharing the trip. With the drive and hike an overnighter would be sweet. Plus more time to take it slow over the rocks and get marmotal larch feelin. Look forward to the couch being put in storage.

Thx for the fun video you guys. I’m off to the North Cascades next week, and you’ve given me a great intro to what I’ll be facing. I hope the larches are looking that good when I’m there. I believe I’ll be skipping that Lewis Lake segment.

I think the hardest part might be having to wait till that boulder field is packed with enough snow to safely traverse it. :)

Latch and other subalpine trees grow very slowly. Their was a 18” diameter tree cut along the trail and it was over 350 years old. That latch I probably over 600 years old

Looks amazing. Curious if you feel this hike is doable in late June or if there will be too much snow that time of year. What other day hikes are good if not this one in cascades. Cheers!

Did i read the sign behind you correctly? No camping?
@OutsideAndStuff
@OutsideAndStuff 6 лет назад
You are correct. This area is heavily trafficked and there is no camping at the lake down around the loop. If you want to camp you need to huff it out to Black Peak or even further.
