In mid-December 2021 we took a trip to the epic summit of Treadway Mountain in the Pharaoh Lake Wilderness Area in the Adirondack Park! During our trek, I share a few "interesting" bits of information about hiking with my 9-month old Siberian Husky, Korra! I hope you enoy!

I have a collar for my dog and when I make it beep he stops. He was going to kill me pulling on me down hills. I just found you via John Kelly. Love the video

Yay for Korra! Dogs are so much fun. We had an early Christmas yesterday since it was my Border Collie's birthday and I didn't want my Walker Coonhound to feel left out in the gifts department. They got new collars, leads, and backpacks. Everyone is happy. 😊

Have you tried the bungee leash from Ruffwear? They don’t yank you around so hard. It’s been good for Ruby and I as she pulled me down a few times. It can clip around your waist or pack. Expensive but worth it

Good thought! I may have to check that out, otherwise, I'm going to either end up on the ground, or having my lower back totally jacked up (or both ;) )!

This is a great hike Jay! I did it solo on memorial day this year. I started at putnam pond campground, paddled over by the R7 campsite, took the little trail from the pond and went right up! It was a beautifully rainy, early spring hike. See you on the trails ✌

Awesome! I'm hoping to paddle a bit in the area next year when I get my ultralight canoe gear dialed in - there are so many cool little ponds throughout PLWA

Awesome video! Hiking with a dog is the best. Congrats to Korra for her longest hike yet! Commands like over, around, left, and right will help with navigating the trail. Also, an "easy" command (teach her to slow down) can reduce her pulling as well as a "wait" command with a release will do wonders for a fast pup on trail. Thanks for bringing us along!

We've actually been working a lot on commands like "fix it" for when she gets tangled, "gee" & "haw" for right and left (mushers commands), and "too far" to get her to stop and wait (or come back to me for a treat). She's very good at "wait" which is super helpful for sketchy parts of hikes, but I think I'll add "easy" to the mix for when she's moving faster than I can ;) Thanks for watching!
