En Panamá han existido Enormes Campeones Mundiales de Boxeo, pero para Mi los Tres Grandes son: 1. Roberto Mano de Piedra Duran 2. Hilario Zapata 3. Eusebio El Alacran Pedroza
I've considered "La Bujia" Zapata as one of the best and an ATG especially for the lower weight guys. Sure he lost but he cameback and was able to recapture titles.
Mowglie, I don't think I am making an excuse for Chang. As I have pointed out--and you agree--most people thought Chang won the first fight. So in their two fights, Chang ought to have taken both stanzas. I am also aware that Zapata couldn't train properly for the second fight; but in my opinion Chang's impairment in their first fight was greater.
AWESOME Hall of Fame Champion ! ! ! I wonder what Teddy Atlas would say about Zappata not BOXING TALL ~ Obviously there is more than one way to fight tall and this is some fantastic boxing that you don't see everyday ! ! ! This CHAMPION is a Boxing Lesson for anyone wanting to learn ? True Paulie D' The Punch Professor
WOW... I did not know that this once happened ... I am talking about the spectator that pulled the leg of zapata at minute 6:00 I think its more clearly shown at minute 6:01 and 6:02 ...
Chang had badly injured foot in this fight he "lost" to Zapata (the decision was very controversial). When Chang was healthy, well, you know what happened.
If you're making excuses for Chang, then why not Zapata in the rematch, considering he'd just gotten out of jail prior to the rematch and was terribly weright weakened from trying to cut in such a short period of time,. He was a dead man walking in the rematch. That said, I also thought Chang clearly won their first fight, albeit in a very competitive affair that was understandably difficult to score given the contrast in styles. Chang was a phenom.
