Yes, they grew up together, discovered still in school, lived in company dorms together, and basically grew up in front of the cameras together. They have a very strong bond, and are like brothers. Yes, mandatory military service if 18-24 months before the age of 28-29, or earlier if you want to get it over with. Xiumin left first in May of last year, and D.O. in July of last year. Suho just left this past June. One more will leave by the end of the year. And Xiumin will be coming back by the end of the year, while D.O. in January 2021.. The way you pronounce Chanyeol and Chen...the Ch is like the "ch" in church, not "sh". Chen rhymes with "ten". D.O. may not be a best performer in EXO bc he is shy, but he certainly is a good dancer. He was picked by Kai as the member with the most potential of dancing during trainee days for a reason. His dance is very precise and calm and has a groove on it. Most men in Korea go to the military at a certain age like Xiumin did (the 1st) but D.O is in the Maknae line meaning he’s one of the youngest so he didn’t have to but he went volunterly since a movie he is in is coming back with a sequel soon after he gets out and he will be at the age where most actors grow in their career. He’s a cook in the military and his station supposedly has been said to cook the best food. Xiumin did so well in basic training that he’s in the front lines where the border between North and South meets. Suho is working with children as a sort of police since he hurt his knee I think in trainee days. You can look up his movies on Viki Rakuten where you can watch some of them (swing kids) for free

FYI, when it comes to EXO's concerts, the Japan versions are much better in general. The camera work and sound are both great in Japan but not so much in Seoul versions. Don't know why.

I also don't think going to the military is a bad thing. It's something to be proud of, even though lots of fans get sad about not seeing them for around 2 years. A lot of idols come back with good things to say about their time in the military, mainly how it's less hectic than their youth as idols. They're able to meet a lot of ordinary citizens, which makes them feel like they've gained a bit of that ordinary life back. Enlisted personnel often do a lot of civic works too so it also teaches one to be more caring towards the community. Plus, if ever you needed something like first aid, it's reassuring to know that at least half of the population would know how to assist you haha

D.O. went to the military early so he can be a part of a movie in Korea. Think shooting starts after his enlistment.

Every korean man artist or not has to enlist in military for 18 months before 30 years old. When he enlisted he still had time he was not 30 at that time. But he went a bit early so he can comeback for one movie that he will act in it.

Btw, If you think about it, South Korea surrounded by Russia, China, North Korea, and Japannese. And they are rather small country. Of course as a citizen you need to prepare what's coming and have to get their millitary training. :(

Fun facts: 1. Chanyeol's mom is very fond of D.O. She once showed up at the premiere of one of D.O's movies, brought flowers, went on stage and gave D.O a hug. D.O was so pleasantly surprised. There is a clip of that on RU-vid somewhere. 2. Apparently, in 2019, Chanyeol developed cysts on his vocal cords and he got them surgically removed. Chanyeol wasn’t able to speak for a month and would stay at home. He said: “I was really free at home and Kyungsoo (D.O's real name) came to visit a lot. I couldn’t even talk but he would just come and stay beside me while playing games on his phone.” Fans had no idea that Chanyeol even needed this surgery until he revealed it on a variety show while promoting "Obsession".

DO is known for his runs and adlibs. He's very outstanding in doing those. One of the best vocalists in Korea, along with Baekhyun and Chen, that's why EXO is called the vocal power of all KPOP groups. Vocal kings, so to say. Anyways, yeah. Most of the Korean group don't really speak English, but i tell you, EXO is one group who are very good in singing English songs like pro. And i am very proud of that. They are learning English tho.

Yes he is not part of the dance line. Dance line are Kai, Sehun, Lay. He dances but he focuses more on singing.

They go in based on age. They are between 25 and 31 (maybe 35, can't remember which one it is)when the mandatory enlistment is but normally it's when they're 28/29/30 that they go in (for idols anyway). D.O was the 2nd as many have told you but next is Baekhyun then Chanyeol and Chen and then Sehun and Kai will most likely go in together since there's only a few months difference. D.O went in a few years earlier than planned due to a movie he's filming next year which is exciting! Lay doesn't have to go into the military as he's Chinese and China don't do mandatory enlistment

Military enlistment is mandatory in South Korea. All males have to serve their country before they turn 30 years old. He was the 2nd to join the military from EXO. Going by age, he was supposed to enlist in about a year still.

Yes the 1st one is xiumin 2nd was D.O and 3rd is suho xiumin will suppose to be discharge on Dec but korean government said that all of korean man who serves in military this year will be decreased by 31days so expecting him to discharge on November while D.O will be Dec this year. They serve 18months in the camp but if you are PWD or with condition health problem you will serve outside of the camp means you will serve as public servant like traffic inforcers so you can go home everyday after duty unlike in military camp but you need to serve atleast 2yrs like suho. Because suho has very bad eye problem more than worst than D.O so he will serve 2yrs while 2 members 18months.

I'll just give some information about S. Korea Military Mandatory. All male citizens (16-40 y.o) are required to enlist in military for two years (except athletes who compete in international events like Olympics, Soccer Leagues, etc, they can choose wether to enlist or not), but it has changed to 16-30 y.o recently because most idols and actor kept delaying their enlistment schedule. If anyone didn't go to the military, they will be banned by the country and blacklisted as a traitor. Their citizenship will be removed, it will be impossible to get a job, owning a property, or even to get married. Their family will socially feel the effect too. Once they leave their country, they won't get permission to enter the country again. There was an idol who did that and never regain his fans again.
