Recently saw a vid claiming that the US failure to adopt the metric system is due to the ship carrying the proposed 1 kilogram weight sample and system info from France being taken by pirates, along with the Frenchman bringing the items to the US. The Frenchman perished in captivity and the ship, along with it's cargo were auctioned off, causing the items to never reach Thomas Jefferson, Secretary of State at the time.

There is this thing, it's called an "improvement"... identify the problem, suggest and go through possible solutions, pick up the best one, improve the situation. Leaving doesn't improve anything. I just wonder if this attitude "if you don't like it, just leave" works e.g. in technology - like if there is a machine that somehow works, but people see it could work better, they are just supposed to leave it and do nothing and watch it slowly ruining what could have been saved...
Oh goodness no. I have never been to your country, nor have I any desire to. All of your processed food and your guns and orange sycophantic ranting. Absolutely no intention of visiting. Most of your stuff comes from China too so I don’t get that description of people wanting your products. Even McDonald’s in the U.K. is made with products made from the U.K. and much cleaner products. Same in France with the produce made there to a higher standard than your country. I buy German cars and German white goods as a preference. I don’t think I have one usa made product in my home. Even my Apple phone is made in China so whilst I’m not happy with that either I rather think that you assume that America makes everything for the world. It does not.
You think that is the case because you want it to be true. But it is not the case. I like to vist the USA but as for live there, not at all. You also need to check where things are made these days.
If America would stop invading countries and destabilising governments I do believe people from those many many countries involved would much rather stay in their own part of the world. I’m British, pretty free the same happens here. Lots of immigrants illegal and legal and refugees. However one only has to look at the involvement of the British government in the rest of the world to see that Karma is a bitch.
