Lot's of great performances from this historic concert and this was one of my favorites. Love the lyrics, the way the words rhyme, the catchy melody, the way the song was performed, and most of all the message. It was almost every young males worst nightmare at that time to be forced to fight in a war they didn't believe in, and in a country they knew very little about. I was in my first year of college at that time, so it was very real for me. This was one of many great anti war songs that sprung up at the time. So I agree with you, fun song that can make people smile, but with a very real and serious message.

Play this vid for my uni students, and try to get them to sing along! No song, save JimiHendrix's StarSpangledBanner (also from Woodstock!), better reflects the craziness of the era of my youth... Thanx for the memories!!!

Upbeat but it was an antiwar song you should react to I was only 19 by Redgum and Australian perspective on the Vietnam war as Australia was involved

The lyrics in this song are satirical. I think you lost the plot of this song a lil bit- when you said " fighting for there country and peace" theres was no glory in vietnam - in the end it had nothing to do with "country" or " peace" and it was all in vain and a lost.
