This was hilarious! Ryan Gosling has fantastic comedic timing. This easily could've had a sequel. What was your reaction? What did we miss? Early Drops & Full Reactions on YT Memberships & Patreon: www.patreon.com/baddmedicine Backup channel Subscribe here ru-vid.com/show-UC1CLUwA27dz-94o3FR0o3xg
Hey guys. I was watching the Guardians 3 reaction and something Quinn said really rubbed me the wrong way and I haven't been able to come back to the channel. In like the first 7 mins of that reaction I think it was Korg who said to Mantis help Peter because he's her brother. And the answer was like oh yeah I forgot or something and the Quinn said "WELL, HALF" . that hurt tf out of me. (Now this is a purely me problem) to see that relationship dimished like that brought up some feelings about my (half) sister who is 14 years older than me and doesn't speak to me at all because of that 'half'. by the time she went to college I was just starting to retain memories and to know I had a sister but never saw or heard from her aside from age 8 when she graduated college, didn't age well within me. So when Quinn said that like that it made me uncomfortably aware that people think and act on stipulations like that. I'm sorry for the low key trauma dump and rant but you guys have been reacting to great movies and shows lately and I can't get my self to click on them. I even paused the opening ad just to type this.
This movie is insanely funny and I’m so glad y’all are watching this! The only thing that would make this duo better is if we got a sequel to this movie. Absolutely love this movie. Excellent choice today gentlemen!
I'm a bit late to this comment, but if you like this movie you should watch Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. It's another movie by the same director that feels very similar and it's awesome
YEEESSSSSSSSSS. I do not understand why this great film didn't get more traction, or why more reactors don't get round to it. Can always rely on our boys for the good shit!
@@azbycx737 With the cost of marketing and the cut the theaters get, you need to make double production cost to break even. Without a doubt, they lost money.
@@azbycx737Usually for movies you wanna make twice the production budget. Also consider 50m is just the production. Factor in press, marketing. Ryan and Russel’s travel expenses to interviews. There’s a lot more money to it than the 50m
Soooo excited, this is a favorite of mine! Russell and Ryan are criminally underused as comedic actors and their chemistry is insane. I want five seasons and another movie with these two! 😁
Ryan Gosling should do way more comedies. He's such a chad/grizzled guy and a good action hero in movies like the grey man/drive/BR2049 but when he has to play a screaming, shrieking failure of a guy trying to pick himself up, he's golden.
Definitely one of the most underrated films out there, especially a Ryan Gosling film. Glad ya'll liked it. Waiting for the crew to watch Tropic Thunder, that'd be a treat!
I never used to like Ryan Gosling, but this film and Blade Runner 2049 made me realise he has a lot more talent and range as an actor than I gave him credit for and he's now one of my favourite actors working at the moment.
@@goldenholdenolden I forgot about Place Beyond the Pines but yes also a good Gosling film. I'd also recommend Blue Valentine, Half Nelson and The Believer as well. His work with Nicolas Winding Refn is worth checking out like Drive and Only God Forgives.
Oh man, this makes for the perfect double feature after watching Shane Black's earlier buddy cop-like film Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang from 2005. That stars Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer. I'd wager that one is even a bit funnier, personally, but it's entirely a toss up. They're like spiritual sibling films, and are a gosh darn riot!
Fun watchalong with you three, thanks for that! Not only did this flick gift us with the dynamic duo of Crowe and Gosling, but also gifted us with the stole-her-scenes phenomenal performance by the daughter, Angourie Rice... and stuff. 😂
My friend and I randomly chose this movie one night to watch because it was on the Netflix recommended and it was the best decision. It is a hilarious movie and is one of my favourites! So excited to see the reaction!
Love this film! You guys should check out Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Shane Black's earlier film that has a very similar tone but also has Robert Downey Jr being friggin hilarious
The only thing better (OK, maybe ON PAR) was the press tour Gosling and Crowe did when they were promoting this incredible film. I almost want you guys to react to all the interviews they did along with the Oscar clip where they present Best Adapted Screenplay... We all deserved a sequel to this film to get more of that sweet, sweet chemistry.
Gosling is brilliant in this. Reminds me of RocknRolla from Guy Ritchie (2008) really funny and not so well known as Lock, Stock or Snatch. Gerard Butler and Idris Elba have a similar great chemistry. Definitely underrated, think you guys would love it as much as this one.
She is a great Australian actress..her comedic timing is so good. She gained recognition in Australia when she was just 11yrs old when she had lead role in an award winning short film. She has said that she took the role when she heard that fellow Australian Russell Crowe was in the film.
Great film. It's criminal that this wasn't the smash hit it deserved to be. Would have been great to see a series based on these characters. Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling were so great together.
I saw this when it came out on cable and loved it… then forgot about it. I’m glad to get reacquainted with it. The actress that played Mrs. Glenn played Aunt Meg in “Twister”. She’s such a great actress. My favorite scenes were when the daughter was in it. She nailed this role. I wonder if she’s done anything since.
Oh hell yeah! I just rewatched this last week, this movie is one of the best comedies ever! A shame we didn't get a sequel, Russell even said he would do it for free
56:00 don't forget their nod to Abbott and Costello (Ryan with body at tree scene) and the similarity with their shenanigans as well. These guys are funny together. And Ryan has a great sense of humor and laughs easily and readily and contagiously. I saw him on an episode of Graham Norton, and this British comic was just talking, and Ryan was rolling, laughing for several minutes at a time. so, something tells me he does laugh easily and effusively.
I was absolutely ecstatic finding out a reaction channel I follow has reacted to this movie! This movie is phenomenal, I don't have a single complaint other than the lack of sequel, made me watch Kiss Kiss Bang Bang just because I wanted more.
I wasn’t sure I was going to like this movie because it was directed by Shane Black mainly because of Iron Man 3 and The Predator but was very surprised how good this movie was
Shane Black doesn't equal Iron Man 3 and The Predator. Forget about those shitty movies. Shane Black = think Lethal Weapon, Last Action Hero, The Last Boyscout.
The person RDJ was friends with that got him to do the cameo was Shane Black himself, Robert was in his 1st movie as a director Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and he wrote and directed Ironman 3😂 Fun fact on Shane he asked in return for writing Lethal Weapon to be in Predator which is still his 1 notable role then years later we would direct The Predator 2018 film.
The first time I watched this movie was on an overnight flight to Toronto. I had no idea what I was in for and ended up with both my hands over my mouth trying to stifle my own laughter so I didn't disturb anyone. It was NOT easy.
From 2013-2017 I saw every single movie that came out at my local theater and this was one of them. Definitely one of the best that came out that year.
I remember watching this. Its funny and Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe are an unlikely pair that actually made this film worked! "I had to question the mermaids!"
Seem this film twice in the theater, bought it on DVD as soon as it came out for sale. I gave it 5 out 5 stars. My brother -in law and friends watch it a couple times a year and we laugh our heads off every time.
I remember the first time I watched this I was on a cross country plane ride in 2017 and I was dying trying to laugh quietly with my headphones in. Obviously had to watch it again on a proper tv and ended up buying the Blu-ray. Great reaction guys!
This movie was always good! I saw it in the theaters at the time. It was crushed by a bad release date. Captain America: Civil War was crushing at the box office and X-Men: Apocolypse opened the next week. People love to bad mouth films because of the box office result but don't take into consideration when it was released.
Same with Kiss, Kiss Bang, Bang. These two Shane Black movies somehow flew under the radar. KKBB starred Robert Downey Jr. just before playing Iron Man. Two underrated gems.
Please watch more Ryan Gosling movies! He’s such a good actor. I really recommend: Blue Valentine Lars and The Real Girl The Ides of March Half Nelson The Big Short
Love this movie! Have you guys seen Lucky Number Slevin and Seven Psychopaths? Not really thinking that they are necessarily alike, just that I watched them with my brother and we enjoyed them ages ago and then we watched The Nice Guys when we were quarantined together a couple of years ago.
Great reaction, I was glad to see that you shared my enthusiasm! To me, The Nice Guys is the best american action comedy of the 2000's next to The Other Guys (another buddy movie!). Maybe one of the best comedies, period. It's clearly Shane Black's best screenplay since The Last Boy Scout, and my favorite next to Lethal Weapon's obviously. Everything about it works. The amount of quotable lines is unbelievable (a buddy and I frequently use "fucking Chet" :D), the randomness is delightful from start to finish, the teenage daughter is freaking awesome, and the movie isn't just funny, it looks sooo good, the recreation of the 70s looks as great as the one in OUATIH, some of the action scenes are top-notch... The fact that it bombed at the box-office is preposterous. =___= It deserved a sequel.
In my top 5 favorite movies all time. When Ryan Goseling breaks the window, and slices his arm, and says “blood, that’s alot of blood” and the “we’re losing him” in the ambulance is so damn funny. Start to finish great
The Writer/Director Shane Black wrote Lethal Weapon 1 & 2, Last Action Hero & wrote & directed Iron Man 3 (hence RDJ appearing in this film) so he had a lot of experience doing Buddy Comedy & action pieces. I saw it at the cinema with my Dad but he didn't know it even existed but we both loved the film & found it hilarious like you guys did. This film had my dad reminiscing about the sets one minute & re-living the action scenes the next. The chemistry between Crowe & Gosling has sadly been forgotten by Hollywood, they could have done a fair few films together since this one & probably made bank. It wasn't advertised well in the UK, the biggest hurdle it had was the relentless marketing machine behind Neighbours 2 (not a good film) & Angry Birds (the less said the better) & it just got drowned out.
Sadly, it was hammered by the Angry Birds movie. Also opening that weekend was the sequel to Neighbors and Captain America Civil War was still pretty fresh.
Absolutely loved this film Crazy Stupid Love showed Gosling can at least hold his own in a comedy though the comedy is powered by Steve Carrell in that, but this had majority of the comedy powered by Ryan and he did a fantastic job. I didn't watch this movie on TV or theaters originally I happened upon it on my laptop once and was so surprised I tried getting everyone I talked to to watch it. I don't have any complaints about this film not a convoluted plot, not too long which kinda is the formula for comedy no one really tries to make 2 1/2-3hr comedy films😂, great acting as everyone says the daughter was great and I HATE kids in film/TV they are always wrote so annoying because it's an adult writing a kid and 98% of the time it's cringe for me. Rice was great and probably literally the most competent person in the film, action was good. I think it's perfect in what it tries to be a buddy cop comedy 5/5 for me and yeah I'd love a sequel Netflix should try to get that going.
