When someone is a habitual collector, they don’t change overnight, so I won’t be shocked if within less than a month is back to what we first saw, which is too bad because it looks so nice, the money that they spent you hope that would change their thinking, and their habits! It Remains to be seen, but hoping things will change.
I knew a hoarder family. Their home was so old and badly handled that it had to be torn down. In its place they got a beautiful modern double wide. I saw it 3-4 days after they moved in and it was a bit unkempt but not bad. I went back a month later and it was disgusting ! In just a month !
It's exactly the way it will be. They can't declutter as they are still emotionally attached to all that stuff & have to deal with the underlying cause to their problem which probably goes way back. Money wasted, although Hillary did an amazing job as always.
That was a really nice transformation. Thanks to Hillary! This lovely lady now needs to keep it all tidy. Some people don't know how to keep a home tidy because it is either too much or there is an emotional problem meaning they are unable to apart for personal things they don't need. If you let go it'll give you room for beautiful things like the space you need. I'm loving everything in this beautiful home and what a lovely couple they are...love Australia xx
She had several months during covid where there was nothing else to do. What does she mean, there wasnt any time? My fam of 4 spent some of that time cleaning up and organizing. It was time well spent.
The remodel was great ,it gives so much more usable space .They have all they need in this house,but the question is what is going to happen with the 3 housefuls of stuff they removed .
@@sh.4409 I also used to clean before the housekeeper came over and after she left I would touch up cleaning anything she missed😂. My health took a turn for the worse so I had no choice but to let go of the extras.
When they use the phrase "collect stuff," there is a problem. That is not collecting, it's just living surrounded by junk. If they don't correct their habit of keeping so much stuff, it doesn't matter how much remodeling or organizing you do, it will always return to a junk filled space.

Wow HGTV a can come to my house anytime. I am 71 years old . I bought a house and my daughter lives upstairs and I live downstairs in the basement apartment. And that apartment has gotten water in it 6 times since I bought it 2 years ago. I have just had 2 sump pumps installed . And now the man is possibly suggesting a third one. Mine you these are all in my basement apartment. I will need to rip out all my bottom kitchen cabinets for the third one. I have about 3,000 left. At my wits end. I am waiting for the mold to grow even though my daughter has used a dry/wet vac many,many times and fans. I give up and she is tired too. This home you just remolded for this family is beautiful and I would just be happy to have this water problem solved so I can put in a normal tile floor……I am living on concrete. And of course when we bought the house the inspector said it was a dry home and basement. UGH!!🏠🏠
Even if she got rid of half her stuff they still needed much more storage. But I'm pretty sure the homeowners are keeping their own furniture, like nightstands and dressers and stuff.
First thing I said, all she's gonna do is clutter it up again. 😂 In no time, probably still has the same clutter on standby and will just haul it right back in as soon as Hilary leaves 🤣

How she keeps things and has allowed conditions in the home to become isn't fair because she has a husband and two step daughters who have to live there now. Let me be clear, living like this is disgraceful, anyone whose home looks like this, please seek help and treatment for hoarding, it is out there. This bears repeating since people like this are delusional and very stubborn and this was her home originally. Change is possible and I truly hope for the sake of this family that this woman seeks a cure. Just moving the stuff won't change anything if her core mindset has not changed and she might need professional help.

I do wonder how long both the clean tidiness and the marriage will last. He's a lucky man to have a free home for himself and his 2 daughters, I do hope he really loves her.
So many comments about this makeover not being maintained but it seemed like they just had too much stuff. They combined two households but didn’t purge. Now with it decluttered, as long as she doesn’t have an Amazon or target addiction, she should be able to maintain it. It’s the initial overwhelm of decluttering 30 years of stuff
It's a shame anybody at all would even live like that. I don't get it. God knows how long this is gonna last. Coz's Hillary did an amazing job and it should stay that way.
Just in general when some of these idiotic selfish people don't have enough money. How in the hell do U get an attitude about anything? They came to help U, U called them.
