The fact that we can enjoy these 1000 year old compositions now anywhere, anytime, in our pockets, just shows how lucky we are to live in these times. RU-vid is one of the only apps, in the mobile invasion, which has almost only positive effect on our lives. Thank you google.
Am reading Nat. Geo. Article on robotics and listening to this. Here is the dividing line. The chasm robots cannot cross. We are spiritual beings in so many forms. We are moved by a Creator to express this spirituality. Robots will never have this unprogrammed urge.
Those who don't know, Herrad of Landsberg was a 12th century alsatian nun who wrote Hortus Deliciarum which was the first encyclopaedia written by a woman. It was finished in 1185, and was one of the most celebrated illuminated manuscripts of the period.
I love the story of Hildegard of Bingen who had all the talents, mystic, poet, composer of hymns but also a great herbalist. A beautiful spiritual garden in short.
The Queen of passive aggression. Her taking to her bed and refusing to be moved until the Bishop had acquiesced to her desire for her and her nuns to remain where they were and not be moved is an absolute classic.
@@markalton2809 I think you're projecting a contemporary category over a past where they had not such a concept as "passive-aggressive". In my opinion Hildegard, as many other female mystics of the middle ages (Santa Caterina da Siena, to name one), had simply understood that her body were maybe the only instrument of power they had in highly patriarchal and chauvinist society, and decided to use it (in a very smart way, most of times).
@@markalton2809 so what the fuck should she have done instead in a hyperpatriarchal violently misogynist society, boy? but yeah, that comment only displays who *you* are 🤮
Jesus loves you, and is here for you. “Now, therefore,” says the LORD, “turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” Joel 2:12
I lack any substantial belief, and yet as I grow older I find that I value sacred music (especially 'early polyphony') and that I lack the shame that makes me feel the need to pretend that I like what others like. This isn't snootiness - as I've never been snooty - but is rather a desire to simply confess to liking what I like.
And bless those who can find the pleasure in the sacred music while still young and vulnerable to the simplistic and profane contents of the mainstream popculture.
something very special is just happening while listening to this heavenly sound, several of my cats are looking my way with their ears sticking up and yet their bodies are in a relax mode, even the animals recognize God's music and are in awe
@@SM-xu3xk no they aren't! Although we, because of sin, have damaged our perception of our Creator and they, the animals, those who do not have a soul and have not sin, recognize their Creator by law of nature. And that's beautiful. Like when the sea obeyed Jesus more readily than his own disciples on that passage of the Holy Gospel!
@@erikamaria4889 For you to even say such non sense, is a reflection that you do not realize what Consciousness is. Divine Consciousness is in every thing, this is what Nature is, the creative force of three that expresses itself as One, The Holy Spirit. The Proton, Electron and the Neutron. This is Nature. Through out all four kingdoms, humans, animals, plants, even minerals, nature, all have divine consciousness. The Soul is the Vital Principal in all living beings, not just humans, that is credited to the faculty of thought, emotion and action. Animals reflect this in their own divine nature, their mothering capabilities, their ability to show love, feel sadness, sorrow, or fear when pain, or emotional abuse is inflicted upon them, just like humans. Even Water has divine consciousness, and memory, as well as plants 'feel'. Look it up, do the work! Being that you replied here to U Tube, there are Plenty of U-Tube illustrations on this.

Amazing how a simple melody can speak so beautifully to the soul.....surely God's hand guided hers as she penned these lovely tributes to the Almighty.
I like to listen such beautiful voices singing Hildegard. I often listen her different songs especially in the evening. These voices and melody help me focusing my thoughts to God. Thank You
Thank you for this! My great grandmother was Eva von Bingen, living in Buda Pest during the final years of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (the last vestige of the Holy Roman Empire).
That which we do not fully know, cannot fully see, almost sense, is presented so abundantly and in sublime praise. The sand and stars exult and join in the choir.
Gabrael StClair thank you, most of this world is unseen, a mystery in every sense. What is a bird, a tree? Have we forgotten how to listen? How to see and feel? Billy
The Hortus Deliciarum was a compendium of 12th century knowledge compiled by Herrad of Landsberg, a French nun. It is one of the first known sources of polyphony in song. The songs presented here are reconstructed from that text, not by Hildegard von Bingen.
Thanks. I imagined that many songs attributed to St. Hildegard of Bingen on RU-vid videos are not from her actually. She wrote many songs, but since they're very ancient, it's necessary accurate researches.
20. Alleluia - In Maria benignitas (Graduel de Pairis) / Alleluia - O virga mediatrix (Hildegard von Bingen) Only one is attributed to Hildegard von Bingen.

Beautiful heavenly music. Down the ages christians have worshipped jesus in love and wonder and respect. This music is almost 1000 years old. It is full of love for jesus and the salvation he has given those who accept his invitation to eternal life in heaven.
Musica sublime davvero , grazie Hildegard ! Purtroppo ora c'e' in giro piu' inquinamento acustico che musica .... Se puoi farci ragionare tutti quanti ..... Sei una grandissima musicista , donna e medico , ti prego guariscimi , guariscici tutti ! Quanto vorrei averti conosciuta di persona 💖💙💖💖
Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy upon us, Amen. Grant, Lord, to keep us this day without sin. Blessed are You O Lord, God of our fathers, and praised and glorified is Your Name for ever. Amen. Lord, let Your mercy come upon us, O Lord, for we have trusted in You. Blessed are You O Lord, teach me Your commandments. Blessed are You O Master, make me to understand Your commandments. Blessed are You, O Holy One, enlighten me with Your commandments. Lord, Your love endures forever; Do not turn away from the work of Your hands. To You belong praise, and song. Glory, to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and forever and to the ages of ages. Amen.
