In my opinion is because Hildur understand music inside out. Her style is unique has a storytelling and emotion. She is not following trend, she is using her own style. Brilliant!!!
Fun fact, the album that this is from features a track called "opaque" which sounds very similar to "penny taken to the hospital" from the joker soundtrack.
@@manifestgtr uh yes, Hildur actually has quite the body of work and has been around for a long time. I actually was put on to her by the lead singer of Sigor Ros in an NME article in the early 2000s. I'm glad to see her get more recognition.
This song is played on The Handmaid's Tale, when Ofglen (Emily) and her lover (a martha) are crying because of the sentence to death ... such a powerful scene, thanks so the music and the superbe acting.. magnificent melody Hildur!
She's incredible, and that was 11 yrs ago! I just love the Nordic sort of dissonance, the way it just grasps your soul like ice in its beauty and power
Oh My GOD she's amazing! I also did a dance to her song. The second i listened to her song, it drew me in and i loved it. this music is just so wonderful. she is a true artist.
That piece of music destroys me everytime I listen to it because for one thing, it's unbelievable powerful and it touches every single fibre of my heart, and it reminds me of that particularly disturbing scene of The Handmaid's Tale (the hanging of the martha who was Ofglen's lover).
Playing an instrument in an order to make people smile is easy but, playing an instrument to make the people uncomfortable and yet smile, is difficult and that is Hildurs specialty.
She is brilliant & best composer cello for Joker. It's sad yet amazingly beautiful & joyous. Best pick as a musician EVER for a musical performer in a movie. I pray not only does this movie win best movie, best actor, best cinematography, best directing..... But BEST music ... Cuz she did an amazing job totally getting this movie 💛
Музыка использовалась в одной из самых драматических сцен в сериале "Рассказ служанки" (1 сезон, 3 серия). Настолько эмоциональная мелодия, спасибо вам за творчество прекрасная Хильдур.
First time i wish I had spent more attention in my musical lessons. Can somebody tell me whether there is a distinctive stylistic device applied here? More precisely, around 1:50, it seems like she changes the melody, which is adopted by her band, but around 3:05 she changes it yet again, but it just fits so well with the continuing melody, like a zipper in my perception.
