Chest mount makes you look faster... The higher the camera, the slower it looks. When mounted on the top of the helmet, it really makes things look slow. I prefer the chin mount as it shows where you're looking. I race AMA races, so we can't run the camera on the helmet.
This was a dual sanctioned race with SERA and SETRA. They are both AMA sanctioned. I have found that the enforcement of the helmet attachment rule is very inconsistent. There were a lot of people with helmet cams at this race. It’s really up to the club hosting the race to decide, and in my experience most clubs don’t enforce the rule. I was just trying out the chest mount at this race. I always have it as an option for when I can’t use a helmet cam.
I definitely prefer the Chin mount. Chest mount looks OK when you're standing, but once you sit it just throws the perspective off. Looked like a great track, but super slick!!
Donnie I’m coming from South Ga to do the Hillbilly this weekend…what’s the weather looking like over there? What do you know about this year’s course?
It’s looking like rain on Friday but very nice Saturday and Sunday so no dust. I don’t know much about the course but I suspect it will be similar to last year. It’s all pretty rocky, more so than it looks on videos.
I prefer helmet mount because the chest mount makes the bike and your arms look elongated and you lose the front fender view. Man you could send us some of that moister. Congrats on 6th place.
The course was in much better condition than I expected considering the rain from the night before. By the 4th loop though it was really rough with all those exposed roots. Those bit me several times and cause me to go down. Overall I am just glad I finished. 4 loops in that heat made this an endurance race for sure. That grass track section though.... Never thought I would dislike a section like that so much. Man talk about rough.
