Can a tent be too big for one person? NEVER! 😄 I own the Nammatj 3gt too, and I love the fakt that I can sit on my Helinox one in the vestibule without touching the fabric with my head, cooking a decent meal and sippin a good drink 🥤.
hello Grafschaft Outdoor👍🏻 good to hear from you mate, yes this tent is awesome and superstrong, happy camping buddy and see you on the next one👍🏻⛺️ stay safe atb HansPetter
Hilleberg Nammatj 3 GT is certainly not too big for one person 😊. I hate being crammed in small tent as sometimes you’re stuck in the tent due to e.g. bad weather. I also always manage to spread things around in the tent and to be able to keep some sort of order I need the space otherwise everything will be stacked in a big pile 😊. I have parked the Nammatj 3 GT for three season hikes but for winter skiing with a snow pulk it’s ideal e.g. I park the snow pulk at the end of the vestibule to keep it from being covered with snow. I have a Hilleberg Allak 2 for three season hikes but of course I can also use Allak for winter hiking but there’re three reasons for not using it in snowy conditions: 1. The vestibule(s) is too small for keeping the pulk “indoors” 2. I want to dig a pit in the snow inside the vestibule to be able to stand up and also be able to keep my feet in the pit when I’m making food 3. The tunnel tent is easier to pitch when the wind is blowing hard I’m tired of all the arguments for keeping the weight low (I respect that other people prefer lightweight trekking but that’s not me) as for me I want to have a comfortable time in the evening and not to be stuck in a claustrophobic environment like a small tent and I often establish a base camp from where I make my excursions with my camera. I have also been stuck in the tent for three days due to bad weather and if I had been in a small tent, I would have gone crazy. I take the pain of carrying the weight just for the security and the cosiness of a large strong reliable tent.
thanks for your excellent comment Tony, very nice to hear from you, I agree with what you says, I will also use my Nammatj 3GT during wintertime and pull my equipment with my snow pulk, have a good week and stay safe👍🏻 atb HansPetter
I have the Mammatj 3 gt as well, though I will always regret buying it in red. Red is such an eyesore when out in nature. Sadly my dog is not nearly as smart as yours, and were I take him with me, he would likely tear through the mesh inner. What a beautiful dog you have.
thanks yes Varg is a smart dog, he is a experienced wild camper now👍I agree with you on the color, I have a red temt to and regret it aswell, I was thinking back then ; I have only green tents so lets buy a red on, .... Green is better😂
@@HansPetterOsvold That is interesting. My thinking was the same, I've got green tents, and perhaps I'm too stuck in my ways - but the red almost ruins a vista for me. My silver colored tent is the worst. I bike more than hike and in the moonlight it advertises my location like a beacon.
Thank you for this video. I am looking at solo Moto camping and this tent seems perfect. The setup with the inner tent not exposed to rain, and the vestibule allowing me to change into my heavy riding gear while dry seems to be a huge plus too. Not a lot of ventilation when the temps go up, but when it is cool or wet this seems like a comfortable choice. Do you worry about cooking in the vestibule and trapping some scents that might attract wildlife?
great video Hans Petter, Quality time with your dog. In a very big tent. But for a short hike no problem. I use Nammatj 2 with my dog, and love the tent. Cheers. ATB
@@HansPetterOsvold everything is fine with me. The mairne blaise has now been canceled for the 2nd year (Covid-19). I also changed my car, the discovery 2 has been sold and now I have a discovery 3. And I do not want to damage this car as much as the discovery 2. I have been to Sweden for the second time this year, I have many images of it and hope that I time to make a video for youtube. Stay healthy my friend and hopefully we will get more of these nice videos
Outstanding adventure Hans Peter, if you had to stay in the same place for many days or in bad weather, perfect size, I would go with the plate on the right, wouldn't want to fight Varg for the one on the left 🤣 the Nallo or hammock would be cool or maybe even the Vavuu. hallo to Wenche, all the best my friend.
thanks Donny😀 good to hear from you, hope all is good with you and your family, Plate on the right side, good choice buddy😂 Yeah I will go with the Lavvo later when snows arrived, will need the toboggan to get all the stuff out into the woods, the lavvo is to heavy to carry😀 will bring the wood stove also thanks for watching and have a nice evening, atvb Hans
Hi Hans! Thanks for this video. I'm 6'5" and I'm looking at the Keron 3 or maybe the GT version of it. I just don't want my head or feet touching anything. I feel it is big, but so am I.
hello mate👍just do what is best for you and your needs, the important thing is to enjoy nature and be happy thanks a lot for watching and taking your time to comment, much appreciated, atb HansPetter
Agree. I'm well north of 70 now, and I am being revisited by old injuries and just plain wear and tear, so less often in higher altitude / exposed situations. Most of my younger years hunting the bush line ( I'm in New Zealand ) I just used a bivvy sheet. I've had a couple made to my own specs to have the edges hug the ground facing the wind and the other end peaked a bit with down turned wings. Believe me. You get creative when setting camp in dicey conditions, but reading what's incoming, and being prepared and positioned to meet it is the trick. I have an older Macpac Minaret for when I know I'll be exposed. I't works fine as a solo tent for someone lugging a bit of kit and has served me well. Have recently bought a " house " in the form of a Hilleberg Keron 3 GT. As I'm moving to more vehicle based access camping which over here, can still mean high country with rapidly changeable weather. It is great, I really enjoy the space as I often locate somewhere for up to a week It is palatial compared to what I'm used to ! Amazing thing and will do the business in any conditions. I was initially going for the Nammatj 2 GT but was attracted to the vertical inner walls and double vestibules and entrances of the Keron. It can be opened right up for better camping / ventilation, in warm conditions. I keep telling myself it's overkill, and perhaps it is, but then I say common, live a little. Two occasions I have had people unprepared for the conditions shelter with me who were otherwise in danger. I grabbed the footprint too. Beats any hotel I've ever stayed in. My home away from home.
Hello Bastian👍 good to hear from you, unfortunately I can not find my Nallo😢 so I will use my Anjan 2p instead, maybe the Nallo has been thrown away last summer during renovation on our house, thanks for watching and stay safe, atb HansPetter
Thank you Charlie👍🏻that is awesome to hear, much appreciated, you are very much welcome to join us on our next outing, have a nice evening Charlie, atb Hans
Hello Harry👍good to hear from you, yes it is a very nice tent, agree, yes I still have the manslu 121, I dont use it often because of my astma, I get worse, the fumes yes You know😀 hope all is good, stay safe and see you on the next one, atb HansPetter
Great to see you out and about Hans. Warg is looking healthy. Say hi to Wenche. All the best my friend. Edit: Keron 3, Soulo & TNF Tadpole. Can’t beat a Hillë to be fair. As long as you’re not going ultralight of course.
thanks mate, will do👍🏻 I feel winter is coming, its getting colder and snow has already reached the mountain peaks now, 2 degrees celsius this morning and it is getting dark outside very early, same in Scotland I guess? see you on the next one Dougie, stay safe, atb Hans
I would go for the plate on the right. Hilleberg Nallo would be nice to see. The Nammatj 3g to big for 1 person? I have a Saivo and use that also when I camp on my own. But then it is either kayaking or a short walk from the car. To heavy to carry by yourself with all the other gear you need. Love your videos!
Good evening buddy,👍 yes I will mostly use my Nammatj when I go by either car, canoe or my pulk. Unfortunately I cant find my Nallo tent so I went out with my Anjan 2p instead, Will upload the video in a few days, hope you are all good my friend, thanks for watching and stay safe, atb HansPetter
Can you really go too big with a tent? ;) Tbh, I think my Nammatj 2 is massive for one person. Feels very luxurious compared to my tiny Akto. I really like the Nallo 2, as sort of a compromise between the two. Wish I had one myself. My suggestion regarding nallo vs hammock is one video with the nallo and another with the hammock :D Excellent video Hans, so nice to watch! Lovely dog :)
hello etc👍🏻 Tonight I was going for my Nallo 2p and I can't find it anywhere 😨 been looking all over my house so If I can't find it I must take my Anjan instead😨 haven't got a clue where it s at, I hope not it has been thrown in the garbage during our big clean up this summer😨 anyways, I guess I will go with the Anjan then, see you there👍🏻 atb HansPetter
Teltet passer perfekt for en person, spesiellt for en på over 2m. som deg. Voksne karer trenger store telt. Hammok ville vært perfekt for neste video. Skulle gjerne sett hele seansen med oppsetting osv. Dette gleder jeg meg til. Du skal få tommelen opp på forhånd, 3stk! Hærlige filmer du lager! Hilsen Bolle Olympus
