This zone was perfect. Both factions have towns, both have quests. It looks somewhat like human part of Azeroth...but still abandoned and Horde controlled... ahh memories. Ganking. Fighting. I still remember leveling my rogue and hunter here, silence, peacefull music, dogs barking in the distance.... and when you step up into the mountains close to Alterac snow starts falling. I could feel the cold. Sudden rogue attacks from the shadows(undead of course).... and then all hell breaks loose.
[2 - Local Defense]: 5 Level 60 horde attacking South Shore, need some help! [2 - Local Defense]: South Shore is under attack! [2 - Local Defense]: South Shore is under attack!
As an Alliance player, I miss this zone, even Alterac isn't the same. It was cool having this little town in what essentially the last remaining holdout in Lordaeron, besides the scarlet crusade.
You (we) will get our chance in Battle for Azeroth. The problem is that they will create an imbalance somewhere else. At least this is my guess. P.S.: I am on nobody's side, I play both factions. I like the lore, the game in general. It will never be peace between Alliance & Horde because that's the nature of the game. It started as _Warcraft: Orcs & Humans_ Salutations :) Meisio
Yes! I loved leveling here. I can't really explain the excitement I experienced the day I discovered the Alterac, Uplands, and Strahnbrad quest. I was so keen to explore the small area that existed there - just running around killing stuff even after I'd completed the quest objectives. Grouping with people to take out the elite ogres was pretty damn epic too.
I really did feel like the last holdout as you describe, on the absolute fringe of alliance territory. There weren't a lot of quests in Southshore but I enjoyed them. I especially remember one where you're actually sent up into southern Silverpine, in HORDE TERRITORY and that blew my damn mind.
I played free trial recently after 10 years away, and back then I played from 2004 vanilla unyil Cataclysm, they've done many graphical changes and overhauls, yet places like Silverpine, Tirisfal and Hillsbrad still retain many vanilla textures, and it genuinely brought me to tears just to see those low-res trees and terrain again.
So many talented people created this game! Amazing music and environments. In a way it's maybe sad that I wasted so many hours/days playing WoW, but this video brings back so many cool memories. I'd love to be able to wipe my mind of WoW and soak up that experience of exploration all over again. That run from Menethil through Arathi and into Southshure to grab the flight point without aggro'ing or getting ganked...!
I've done the same. No regret for wasting my time in WoW though! Not now! And yes, I would do it again the same if I could wipe my knowledge about WoW :) Southshore quests were so sweet indeed. I need to make a gameplay there soon! :)
@@Meisio Same, absolutely no regrets whatsoever. It didn't really impact my life in a bad way, as I quit on time though (Vanilla to WOTLK). Some memories from WoW are as dear to me as my real life memories.
Since the beginning I have always mained an undead and would be always playing undeads if the race/class combo allowed... Having said that it is given that one of the most beloved zones in the entire games are those you had to traverse through as the undead, mainly: Tirisfal, Silverpine and Hillsbrad. They had remained the most beloved ones even after cata-revamp. Tirisfal revamp was okay, Silverpine as well, but something didn't quite feel right with Hillsbrad. As a Undead fanboy I'm glad that it is Undead dominated, but what they have done to that Hillsbrad Farmstead at the far west of the zone didn't please me at all. For me, that was this zones trademark and I can vividly remember spending majority of the day doing quests relating to that specific farmstead. I remember farmers: Getz, Ray and Kalaba. I even remember that guy Citizen Wilkes and dog Stanley that you test your elixir on, poor Stanley :*( A part of me wishes to relive the adventure all over again, but the other part feels as if it would be a huge step backwards (hence why I will mainly play live when they release Classics and come on them on occasions just to feel those nostalgia burst every now and then...). Thank you for this upload and adventure you had again put me through it was really enjoyable!
Thank you for sharing your memories with us :) No worries, I am here to cure your WoW Nostalgia. I will play both: live and classic, when I will have time of course! :) And you will definitely see more from me (live & classic) :) Kind regards, Meisio
I've made a new undead character just to run Tirisfal/Sliverpine/Hillsbrad over again MANY MANY times. I love all 3 zones. Arathi is a bit boring/ugly so I sometimes lose interest around then.
There are other options at that point / other zones. Maybe that's not because of Arathi zone? Arathi might be simple, but holds a lot of wow history. I love it for that and for the soundtrack ofcourse.
Nice summary, I often wondered how those farmers held out with the road right there and the undead that must constantly be going by....although it is pretty heavily guarded I guess.
This is why 2 years ago I switched to "Normal" servers. I think I had my share of world PVP and there were times when it ruined my day. Old Hillsbrad was nice for questing indeed, relatively small map, nice ambient. Now I don't like it unfortunately, I personally think that the Forsaken taking the whole map was not a good idea. Welcome back and thank you for your visit :) Best regards, Meisio
Everything about this area is amazing, the soundtrack, the quests, the plagued worgs and bears, the island in the middle, the dark and gloomy atmosphere that creates such an intense vibe when walking through quests. Nostalgia never fails to impress me :)
Good old memories from a strange universe, from a strange time at the same time strangely so real, maybe more real than reality itself, like it was already existed in our soul before we even know about it, even before our existence
Hey JW91248! (Nice name, so easy to remember :) ) Thank you! Everyone wishes to go back to the beginning of the WoW experience, the emotions of discovery, new, the unknown - this is what I miss the most. By the way, my next videos are with Hillbsbrad's neighbors: Arathi Highlands and Alterac Mountains ;) I hope you can come back and check them out (and say "Hi!") :) Thank you, Meisio
You are welcome :) Alterac Mountains video coming in few hours. It turned out better than I expected with the snow starting to fall at the middle of the filming :) Kind regards, Meisio
Welcome back :) Thank you. It is very nice to see people watching constantly and appreciating the effort. It is difficult sometimes (like this week, when my children were at home all the time 4 days) to keep up with my self imposed target of at least 4 movies per week. But I made it! :) Best regards, Meisio
Always one of my favorite tracks. The calm yet somber tone makes it easy on the ears for extended periods, which is good because you're gonna be there for a while. Can't wait to crack some Alli skulls there in Classic.
Haha :P I was on the other side on the Vanilla times. Started to play horde in BC, but that was already late for world PVP. I think it ended when the patch 1.5.0 arrived (Battlegrounds where introduced: Alterac Valley & Warsong Gulch). But it was fun while it lasted :D Mister Orbus G, welcome to the channel. I hope you enjoy more of my videos, whether they are old or new :) Here is a big playlist which contains 80% Vanilla videos: ru-vid.com/group/PLJ_dkEi2c3Rzien5VdW-E0YYYIydsIJXo /salute Meisio
Holy shit ive been watching Critical Role and Mercer uses this a ton. Was driving me nuts and couldn't find it on his many playlists but i knew it was a Classic zone. Searched Barrens, Tirisfal, Ashenvale, Durotar, etc. Edit: 1:57 even 20 years later its so recognizable as WoW
O yeah...lvl21 paladin, run to SW, go thru that underground train , run thru IF, then dwarf starting zone, run to loch modan, go thru lot of tunnels, find ur self in swamp, go north, run thru swamp, bunch of low lvl nelfs passing by, north, run, north, run, holy shit, this bridge looks awesome...omg, enter arathi,..fcking raptors...run tru arathi, OMG city with walls in this shitland...keep going..run, run, holy.... a wall??!!!....Hillsbrad Foothills.Right side Durnholde keep, memories from warcraft 3 tutorial pre mission map.Run, run, yes!!!...., Southshore. Ok, now i need to find 4 other pallys or high lvl to get me tru SFK.
Oh wow, did you actually made SFK runs as Alliance at that level? That's very impressive :) I imagine that finding a party unless you are in SW or IF was impossible. In Hillsbrad Foothills there were more Alliance players looking groups for Scarlet Monastery.
Ye. I started playing wow just before cata. My 1st vanilla exp was on private server few years ago.O boy, that was a blast.Just loved that hard core feeling. No zergfest to end lvl, just slow progress.Learn the world around u, nothing is easy(that fcking murlocs at low health run to another grp and aggro them all xD).Anyway..., solo run to Hillsbrad and than i spamed chat for high lvl to boost me. I finally found grp that was already in SFK, so leader agreed to let me in after they finish. That feeling when u get hammer after all that trouble...what a game...
Hopefully, this time it won't be another case of Southshore being demolished 24/7. On all the servers I played on the zone was far from "contested." The horde has a presence ratio of about 8 to 2.
¡Gracias, Alexis! De hecho, es bastante relajante. Lástima que fue rehecho en Cataclysm. Welcome back! :) P.S.: I am not Spanish, but I live in Barcelona :) ¡Hasta la proxima!
i would give almost anything in the world to go back and be like 16 again and take part in the massive server crashing like hundreds vs hundreds open world PVP battles with horde and alliance endlessly pushing back and forth between Tarren Mill and Southshore wiping out all the NPCs each time lol ahhh i miss it
Adorava logar no jogo e deixar meu personagem parado nessa cidade ouvindo o vento , as arvores e a musica! Problema é que quando saia do AFK só tava o cadáver kkkkkk

It was in 2007 when I first set foot in here and got killed by a lvl ?? player. Oh the memories of spending hours and hours questing for that blood that never drops
I have a feeling you were playing Alliance? :) Thank you for watching. I hope you have the time to check out my other Vanilla videos. They are many on my channel :) Talk to you soon I hope! Meisio
Hey! Not sure if I understood correctly, but Durotar music is _Plains_ (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ragRR5r7k9w.html) and the main theme here is _Forest_ (maybe you heard it in Alterac and The Hinterlands?), but _Forest_ is mostly known as an Alliance track from Elwynn Forest. Kind regards and thank you for your visit :) Meisio
My first character was an orc warrior. At lvl 20-30 (i think) i went to Hillsbrad because i wanted to discover more zones from the game. I stayed in Tarren Mill, Hillsbrad for a very long time. I said i like the plains music from Durotar bcs i spent my first 10 levels there
Curremt wowusic tries to add the same mood into every zone. It focuses on epicness, while wow classic musi focused on wanderlust and sometimes feeling of imperfection, it's either dangerous or mysterious or longing for better days while modern is always pompatic nad tries to say "look how great we are!". Not the right mood. The player is great enough with his superhuman combat skills and spells. The world should feel like in need of a steward.
But even beforehand, the experience was ruined a bit by the XP scalling. I guess that leave us with only with memories (I think Horde as well received a bad experience, there is too much Undead experience now and I don't think that's okay). At some point I am going to do a 'gameplay' video here with Southshore as quest hub, to remind us more about the Hillsbrad Vanilla experience. Thank you for your visit, I hope you enjoyed the video and why not... shamelessly I am recommending you to check out my other videos too (whether they are Vanilla or Legion) :) Kind regards, Meisio
@@Meisio Okay I'll look into that. I tried uploading one video and 9 hours later was only at 21 percent. Haha! Anyway, thank you kindly for the information.
Horde player detected! (I've been wrong before, but I am pretty sure now about you :) ) Nice to meet you and I hope we talk again! :) Don't forget to check out other videos from me. I have many in this style :) Meisio
53:51 plays a track (Evil Forest) which also plays a lot in the nearby Horde zones: Tirisfal Glades & Silverpine Forest. Southpoint Tower has an undead quest giver there too. Evil Forest track plays only at that tower, it doesn't even plays while in Tarren Mill. Or it was just luck? :) Salutations Ben, Meisio
@@hyekang3850 the music in this game is fantastic. it was a big part of conveying the atmosphere. i cant wait to return to this world once classic gets released. :3
@@Wurmstinkt oh I see... Yup, it helps relieve some anxiety for sure, I've tested it myself (been spending hours on watching these videos because my anxiety has got much worse the last year...). Anyway, I was referring mainly to how the Earth is slowly dying (thanks to corporations, corrupt politicians, capitalism and its shitload of consumers-cogs of the system) and how most of us remain indifferent/careless/selfish and ultimately self-destructive too, like life is a movie or a videogame and it doesn't hurt if we do nothing. Sorry for the seemingly off topic comments, it's simply that my own anxiety comes from that and I can't help but mention or hint to those subjects😅 thanks for actually asking!
