@@HawaiianSteelGuitar She taught me to play some as a kid. After she passed away I had her vintage Bronson lapsteel restored and took lessons for a few years. I'm inspired by your videos to dust it off and start playing again. Another favorite of hers was Under the Double Eagle.

Hi Stan, thank you for your kind words ! Most probably he used C#min for this track, doesn't make a big difference since most work is done on the upper 2 strings. It is actually a bit easier to play in A I would say.

Hi Sebastian. Thanks for your helpful reply. I had previously tended to think that Dick McIntire played "Hilo March" in E maj. tuning! I've attempted to play it in various tunings over the years and, like you, find the good old A maj. is best. There was also a nice traditional style recording by the New Zealand group Bill Sevesi and His Islanders, featuring Trevor Edmondson on steel guitar [circa 1960]. Mahalo ! For the campfire I would definitely recommend a resonator steel guitar like a Dobro or Tricone. I love the simplicity of that setup.
