I just love how it starts get light around 0430. Absolutely everything is tranquil at that time until about 0600. Perfect to get up at that time and soak it in, and get a good afternoon siesta when the temperature is set on broil.
Oh man do I know that feeling of being away from the US so long that you just want some of that manufactured nostalgia -- a little American theme park of a restaurant? Glad you got a decent burger amidst some dusty paneling. :) Thanks for another great review!
Another fantastic video Kevin! Loving watching all your videos all the way from the UK. Will you be reviewing more hotels in Dubai in the next few months? Your content is top tier. 🎉
Thanks for posting Kevin. A destination not previously on my to visit list however your review has changed this. The Hilton Dubai does look pretty amazing.
Kevin - GREAT video (as always!)… We are heading to the Prague Hilton Old Town in early September - looking forward to our Hilton Diamond status there - it sounds like the Executive Lounge is nice (comes with Diamond status). Thanks for all that you do to entertain all of us! (And what a video that stolen identity / Air India was! Holy Moly! So sorry that you had to go through all of that!!!)
Rumour has it that hotel check in staff of luxury properties around the world have been instructed to be on the lookout for any US passport holder named Kevin. (I just realized that may not be his actual first name 😏). Another great review that I thoroughly enjoyed, even if I will likely never stay there. The presentation is just so structured and well done.
Nice one Kevin. Being the Palm, the location is as convenient as It gets as it is just at the beginning of it and a 5 euro ride max to Marina for instance. It is also not less convenient that the Madinat area for instance for pretty much everywhere else in Dubai. Not sure if you do much sea swimming, but the problem with the Palm, it is the beach quality that cannot really be compared to beaches in the "mainland" such as Madinat or JBR.
Nice review. Looking forward to the Virgin Voyage as I'm trying to figure out a way to use my 120k Virgin points as the devaluations have just about killed all the other sweet spots.
I was lucky to get it for 80k last year but honestly 120k is still worth it under the right circumstances. I’d be happy to spend 120k if the total cruise fare was over $2800, which I think is pretty easy to manage these days.
BIG BOX indeed 😅 I don’t recognise Dubai at all anymore, I would be completely lost visiting after the odd 25 years 🤯 Thank you for a good old fashioned hotel review 🤩 Can’t wait for the Starlux video, quite some time ago I saw so many 🚨 in the description 😮😳🫣
I mean most people traveling say once a year are into these types of hotels anyways, worse part is for ppl who want a more unique experience that’s going to get even more expensive, goes for any city
I still feel bad that my joke made Kevin add "...all the GOOD buttons..." to the kommentary. Sorry Kevin! I gotta admit I do not feel comfortable with Dubai as a destination, even though this channel could sell me a trip to anywhere. Anyone else feel its a bit ironic that they have a problem with "space" in a place like UAE? And holy hell its expensive! I think I'll stick to Japan, that right now, is cheaper than ever! Once again my sunday feel much better after a dose of Flip-flop Kevin. Thank you!
Don't want to be a party pooper, but I think I would hate it here. The boring outdoor space, the tiny bland room and the overcrowded "beach" and public spaces do not appeal. And what's with the exact copy of the Marriott next door? Just lazy to me from both brands. The only things I liked were the incredible view from the balcony and the Promenade (which says more about the Palm than the hotel). However, thanks to the hard work and brilliant presentation quality of the Flip Flop Traveller, I was able to get a good feel for this place and a good feel to choose somewhere else - so thank you once again!
@@tfft What do you consider an up to date hotel (exterior, interior, etc. wise) that you’ve made a video on recently or will be posting one? Would it be the Regent Phu Quoc?
You said (some time ago) that there was airline that caused identity theft on your side. I am curious what this meant specifically (data breach? data shared on social media?) Can you explain a little further?
It is a nice hotel. Can you still smoke on balconies? I think my wife would freakout at the smell. I am a smoker and a lot of reviews don't include smoking info, which is fine because I bet a lot of people don't smoke. I loved your Japan series and I know they are clamping down on smoking in public. Similar to here in Korea, the central part of Seoul is supposed to be a smoke free area, with kinda bus stop looking huts here and there for smoking but it isn't enforced at all.
I believe you could. I don't mention smoking in videos normally, but if there's an ashtray on the balcony, I always leave it out there so that everyone can see it in the video.
Is the pool just like the one in Conrad LA? I mean it’s not chlorinated? I am looking for a non chlorinated pool in Dubai we are going in April next year 😊
@@tfft Do you smell chlorine when you took the video around the pool? Conrad LA have a different filtration system in their pool i know somebody who has the same he leaves in the Philippines. It was Naked System an Australian filtration system which they turn tap water into freshwater. That way it doesn’t irritate the eyes, you can open your eyes underwater. You would know it was freshwater pool coz the birds drink from it.
One of my biggest fears is being trapped in a hotel which is miles from the action, and you have to go on long taxi rides to get anywhere. If I want seclusion (unlikely) I'll select an appropriate resort.
@@tfft This happens in Melbourne. There are several 5 star hotels which are just in the wrong place. You need taxi rides to get actually to Melbourne, even though you are technically in Melbourne.
Love the review but i dont know if you have the same opinions as me but i personally hate dubai. I have personally been there 3 times and i really dont like it. Maybe it because of the lack of taste or the lack of culture but i think that dubai is just flexing all the oil money they have and it lacks the main thing that i live about travelling, culture.
To each its own, not sure where you are from but Dubai is great for a sun holiday coming from Europe and much better value for money most of the time than MiamI and most of the Med area in summer. You could go to Greece and see no culture. Think Mykonos and a lot of the islands. Dubai is great for what it is, great service, excellent infrastructure and hotels (much much better than anything in Miami or Hawaii) and a great restaurant scene (but very expensive), In relation to lack of taste, you have certainly not been to the right hotels/places.
