Hey brother I have my first 70.3 race coming up and I was wanting to make sure my Felt was race ready. I hate going into a shop and asking for a tune up since I don’t know exactly what that all entails. Do you have any advice on what I can specifically have them check or go over to ensure my bike is race ready? I’m in Tampa and would even be willing to bring my bike to you if that is at all possible. Thank you for the guidance!
My pushback on this bike is manifold but I come from a performance cycling background. 20mph for a performance cyclist who buys an ebike for fun or say to use on recovery rides like I do isn't enough. In fact, I build 2000w ebikes with Bafang BBSHD mid drives that will do 40mph which btw allows me to pace or ride out in front of the fastest cyclists on the planet and certainly elite amateur racers (no motor) who are my friends. But for an average person with no cycling affiliation, 20 mph is 'ok' and likely safer. Pro tip, is, a good chance you can go into the setting of the controller of this mid drive and up the power to 28mph and make it a bonafide class III bike. The battery at 750 watt-hours and that is watt-hours and not just watts GC, is a smallish battery and building custom with 2x's that battery size of course dramatically reduces range anxiety. Also, big thing about the battery is, its proprietary and built with crappy Chinese cells you pay 2 x's as much for replacement with much less cell integrity. Is this bike awful? No. But if you appreciate cycling like many who watch GC's channel who features some of the best roadbikes (no motor) on the planet, this bike falls way short. If interested in a custom ebike which btw won't break the bank and own a bike you love without a motor that you may want to convert, post below and I will tell you how to get in touch with a builder I support.
