This is not accurate. John 3:16 has not been removed from the Bible. There is not a single manuscript I'm aware of that contains this passage and omits this verse. The word "μονογενής" from the verse was translated in the King James translation as "only begotten" . it is an ancient Greek word and with contemporary literary and medical writings of the time, we understand that it is used to refer to something that is a one-of-a-kind / a completely unique instance. It is also used in this literature that was contemporary to John to refer to an only child or only son of a person - emphasizing the uniqueness of that individual for a father. Modern English translations render this word as "only" or "one and only". That is a better translation in how we would articulate this today. Christ is the unique Son of God.

And they will claim Islam is false just because it came after, not realising that Jesus PBUH is the Second last prophet among thousands. @tra I think what is happening is that they see religions as a pantheon so they have to fit Christianity (or any other religion) into their pantheon somehow even if that other religion directly contradicts them and opposes them, they need to reinterpret it to make it work.
