Periodic acid also reacts with vicinal diketones, alpha amino alcohols, alpha hydroxy carbonyl compounds.. Explain those too

Sir what is the mechanism if di aldehydes is present because even if it forms enol form then converts to di ol Even then a double bond cannot break right?

Sir it is Per Iodic acid, not periodic acid....like the prefix per, hypo...it is Per Iodic acid..as oxidation state of iodine is 7

Sir reaction mechanism ke second last step mai jap aapne O--I bond toda tha (At 11:26)....to electron iodine ke paas kyu gaye? Jabki oxygen jyada electronegative hai.....sir please doubt clear kardo i am noob in chemistry.

Yes you are right Although the vicinal diols are joined by single bonds only so they can easily rotate to come in syn manner for rxn to occur But if you use a highly strained compound for example a ring which can't rotate, and rotation is not possible and OH grps are in anti manner then this rxn does not happen
