I’m a simple man. I see “My Immortal” I click it. Such a wonderful and breathtaking song. I’ve always seen this song and video as Amy singing from the guy playing pianos perspective. He lost someone he loved to suicide and he can’t let them go. They are always lingering. As others have said in previous comments, her feet never touch the ground and she is often laying on her back. She’s on the roof and also on the hard concrete below. Whoever came up with this storyboard for this video did an amazing job in my opinion. Keep up these great reactions and Evanescence is definitely worth looking into.
Keep in mind the title of the song "My Immortal" Notice in the video she never touches the ground(symbolic she is no longer part of this world) and is kinda wrapped in bandages or grave clothes. Notice the guy in the video walking the streets looking up as if searching for her. I believe in the video she has passed away and the guy is mourning her passing.
You are right on. Ben who Then plays the piano while leaning on it lost his little sister form of horrible cancer that caused her so much pain. He nursed and cared for her until she passed. I definitely believe that Amy Lee he’s playing that sister with the gauze of like she had been in the grave and in this video her feet actually never touch the ground, like she is in another world than he is. He walks like he is searching for her
@@amyaeschbach3581 I'd like to add to that the moment when the rest of the band joins in. They are in a completely different room, but upon hearing the band start to play ben looks over and sees them jamming. It feels as if while Ben and the rest of the group are in completely different worlds, the band kinda recognizes the feeling while still jamming out. Great cinematography
this is perfection... the song... the voice... the video... and Amy is gorgeous! She's ridiculously underrated! But this song is one of the greatest ever of its kind. As for the video: she actually killed herself this is why she has bandages around her wrists, shes a ghost. This is also why her feet never touch the ground and the kids in the playground don't see her. Its also why she's in white and why she appears in different random places. The words she's saying are the reasons she's giving why she is going to takes her life.... and now she's a spirit.

I lost one of my best friends last year during the first lockdown. He was 25. I can maybe understand what the lyrics are meaning. Every time I actively think about my friend I can’t help but smile for all the great memories we made together, but at the same his presence is always in some corner of my mind and there are days that I simply wish he could give me a break and live me alone just for one day. Because it’s very tiresome to constantly know that he’s gone
it's so amazing that you guys instantly thought it was about someone who had passed away. every other reactions i've seen so far all thought it was just a sad break up song lol. it's about one of the band members' baby sister that sadly passed away... props to you guys! thanks for the reaction!
And that's the whole purpose of the song...to start those painful conversations about when someone is no longer there, whether through death or just life, and to explore the healing process after someone leaves.
I can definitely relate to the pain of wishing someone was here still. When you love someone so much that you want them in your life the next day but the pain that that next day will never come. I think she is not talking about choosing to live without the memories but more the fact that she didn't choose the memory over her sister still being alive. That is what I take because that is the feeling of losing someone you love so much and so tragically- it's like a sharp knife in your heart of why aren't you here? She is 'bound by the life you left behind', her life that she shared so closely and her dreams were once pleasant because her face was real before, not real, but alive before, a face that was not confined only to a dream or a thought or a memory but a face she thought she would see forever more
I believe she was talking about her relationship at the time and then just so happened one of her band mates left around the time of this songs release
Song was written about the man playing the piano‘s little sister that passed away from a horrible cancer when they were young. It was extensive and extremely painful and he helped nurse her through the whole thing until she passed. So yes she is gone but those memories and that close Familia bond isn’t any at the memories of what he watched her go through are still in him and haunting. Amy Les also watched her younger sister die of cancer when she was only four years old.
Have you guys ever thought think the video like this ? Ok here we go. "She is passed away and her spirit is Searching for her soulmate who is still alive in living world." I mean she is dipping her feet in the pond and the children's playing around her Not noticing her. And if you look enough, She is always top of everything, trees, tall sighs, and top of a building or roof... She is flying and searching for him ☺
Amy Lee is an angel with an angel's voice. This is a ballad but they are a rock band. check out anything from Fallen or Anywhere but Home. You will not be disappointed.
It's really uncomfortable watching them try to feel the music of this beautiful song. They bob their heads out of rythum like aliens. Sorry guys but it's out of your comfort zone but I'm actually very happy that you appreciated it. Keep feeding yourself and I'll be a big fan, thanks for shareing.
Hello, I think you should give a listen to "Raign, knocking on heavens door. So complex, beautiful, powerful and an original voice. You will love it, have a nice day.

I totally agree with you on the meaning to this song. I had a 2 and 1/2 year relationship, very intense, and her words speak to exactly how I felt when he broke up with me. My love and devotion were so intense, and I did so much for him. Even though he left, his presence still lingered and it was so hard to deal with it. I wanted him back but the hurt he caused haunted me. I heard years ago that Amy Lee and band mate Ben Moody were a serious couple at one time, and that they had had a bad break-up. And that's how this song came about. Could be.
Just further evidence of the goddess tier talent that is Amy Lee - I've loved her and her music for nearly 20 years. Please try 'My Heart Is Broken' - probably my favourite of all time.

Bring Me The Horizon has a song with Amy Lee, and Oliver Sykes said that she is the mother of rock and roll, which most people may think it's a stretch, but her talent is undeniable. She's definitely one of my favorite singers, and the current formation of the band is doing a really good job these days. I recommend "Whisper" next. Actually, any song that they have is good.
This song is my favourite of all time. In fact I have it as a pinned tweet dedicated to those that I have lost. There is a reason it will reach 1 billion views in the future. You should react to "Call me when you're sober" and also check out the live version of "My Immortal" where the audience sings along knowing all the words. Also for more Amy Lee check out her with Seether singing "Broken"
Having lost someone very special in a very brutal and violent home invasion in South Africa in 2003 the line "There is just too much that time cannot erase" always hits really hard...
The first time I listened to this song was in 2012 when I was in middle school. btw, please react your guardian angel by the red jumpsuit apparatus hehehe thanks and greetings from Indonesia 🤗👋
It's amazing to see the natural emotions that the songs generate in someone who is reacting to the song. I would love to see you add to your reviews how the music has resonated with yourselves along with a possible bands emotional interpretation. As your body language gives a great insight into how the songs are touching your emotions
Her name is Amy Lee, Best female vocalist in my opinion. The song is not actually about a breakup, its about the death of a loved one. The music video is an artwork... Notice in the video how her feet never touch the ground and she’s in all white with bandages all over her. She’s representing that she’s a spirit and the one who has died. The guy is left behind with all their memories and dressed looking like he just got back from a funeral.
Next System of a Down (B.Y.O.B) Thank you.. And I'm sorry I just opened youtube again, btw Happy Birthday Angela sorry I said it late, Wish you all the best :)
People don't understand how difficult grief can be. I use to bread down to this song because it was one my mum favorite song. Still gets me a bit 🙂 it's good though lol. Thanks for upload. Loved the reaction as always. You guys are great to watch.
Evanescence used this song sung when Amy Lee was making demos. The studio loved it but she hated it. She felt it highlighted all the worst aspects of her voice (it kind of did). What you are listening to is her remake of the song which is MUCH better. Amy Lee said in an interview in 2018 that she was lucky to get to revisit the song the way she wanted it.
