Yeah I was disappointed he didn’t give an interview. I hope when they talk about the tragic death of Tupac/Biggie and how there’s a void left as who the best rapper is that Jay-Z is open to doing this interview because people mention him as the guy that took the crown.

Obviously there's gonna touch in on Shady/Aftermath in Season 3, if that's happening. But the fact that so many are overlooking Rap-a-Lot, No Limit, Roc-a-Fella - and maybe even Star Trak - is distressing. What about the Internet-movement that began in the early 2000's? Immortal Tech, CunninLynguists/QN5, Demigodz, Jedi Mind Tricks, Non Phixion... Hip-Hop is so much more than just Marshall... So many Stans, it's ridiculous.

@cobystanton3182
@cobystanton3182 4 года назад
Yeah that upset em, they talked about underground rap, freestyle, and punchlines. And big L is the king of punchlines, and imo the best freestyle artist. Very disappointed he didn’t get mentioned, and frankly disappointed he never even got the fame he was owed. He would have been so big, he is better then jay z imo. He was even about to sign to rockefella however was killed before he could finish the process.

"I was 'Hip Hop' from the time I was in my mother's womb." This is exactly how I felt, KRS-1. I grew up in New York when most of this was going on. It was awesome! But all these years later, this documentary still gave me some knowledge I didn't have. I realize they probably couldn't cover EVERY WELL-KNOWN rapper or DJ or all time... then again, this wasn't about well-known rappers of all time. This was about how HIP HOP BEGAN AND EVOLVED. If they were gonna cover every single rapper, they'd have a long list of other rappers to include like: Jay Z, Eminem, Naughty By Nature, Master P, Warren G, Lil Bow Wow etc. etc.... but again, it wasn't about that. The one thing I was REALLY SURPRISED about (especially when they did the small section on female rappers) is that they did not include Salt n' Pepa! Like HUH??? WTF?? How can you talk about the female pioneers and not even mention Salt and Pepa? Like, I knew them before I even heard of a Queen Latifah or Moni Love. And wait... you are interviewing one-hit wonder Moni Love when Salt n' Pepa gave all them the platform to even have a look as a female rapper during that time.They were out in 1985 for sure, because I remember I was in 9th grade listening to them. It wasn't until a couple years later when I heard of Queen Latifah who was from my birthplace, Newark Jersey, NOT NEW YORK, like she initially claimed. They talked about DJs and never mentioned the first, baddest female DJ Spinderella who became the 3rd member of Salt n Pepa. Like yo... that was a huge miss. Even if they didn't want to be interviewed (which I would find strange), they weren't even mentioned. WOW

Auto-Tune was the beginning of the end of it for me. If I hear a song and it's auto-tuned, I immediately disregard it. That's sissy boy music. I'm not sure how kids listen to it, to be honest. When I say, "kids," I'm referring to anyone approximately 25 years old or younger. With auto-tune, I wouldn't know whether I was listening to 'Lil Dumpster,' Lil BoPeep' or the Queen of England. The #1 songs are auto-tuned and repeat the same horrendous hook throughout the entire track over an even more horrendous beat. These days, a hip hop artists #1 challenge is to find as many words they can that rhyme with the "O" in "Lambo." *See what I did Yo" I wrote hit on RU-vid, Oh! Gonna have dollars fallin like ammo! Peeping hotties through my peep hole. Catching em easier they don't ever say NoNo. All I have to do is say Hello.*
