George Thorogood, another musician I never knew existed. His song Bad To The Bone is definitely a catchy banger. I found myself constantly singing B b b b Badddd…
I’m not sure what other songs George Thorogood has done and what other bangers he has but if they sound like Bad To The Bone, I’ll definitely be listening again!
Here is my reaction to hearing George Thorogood - Bad To The Bone for the first time. I hope you enjoy it!

@@dustlawyerall due respect, that's not the Bo Diddley beat. Also, Bo is in it because before George recorded the song he offered it to Muddy Waters who turned it down. Bo said he'd like to record it, but he had no record deal at the time. George recorded it and when it came time to make a video, he asked Bo to be in it.

I saw George Thorogood first time in 1980 at Rich Stadium in Buffalo NY., 80,000 people. It was my first big concert and I was 18. He was opening for the Rolling Stones an it was raining. When he came on stage he promised to "Rock the clouds out of the sky". As his set finished the clouds began to part and Jagger bounced out on stage, it was the most awesome show ever and has not been topped to this day, and I've seen a lot of concerts since.

Actually it’s inspired by Bo Diddley’s “I’m a Man.” Muddy’s song was co-written by Bo as an answer to “I’m a Man.” Of course, Bo wrote that as an answer to Willie Dixon’s “Hoochie Coochie Man,” which Muddy recorded the year before.

As others have noted the guy with the rectangular guitar who plays pool with George is the legendary Bo Diddley (1928-2008). He was one of the early developers of rock n roll music. Watch the YT video titled 'Bo Diddley 1965' to see him performing his most famous song. The song is 'Bo Diddley', having named it after himself. It's great to see how dynamic he was as a live performer in his prime. His dancing skills while playing the steamroller rhythm is something to behold.

George leaned heavily on the repertoire of Bo Didley, who was a pioneer in blues. To George's credit he took Bo, who had kind of been forgotten, on stage with and toured with him. He helped create a new audience for him as well as commercial opportunities so he could finally make some money. Those old blues guys had really been taken advantage of when they were in their prime and George helped right that for Bo Diddley some other old timers.

All of George Thorogood's influences can be listed: 1. Chuck Berry 2. John Lee Hooker 3. Bo Diddley I stopped seeing him live, when he added the Saxophone player, and a rythm guitar, player. The Sax player incorrectly thought that it was a rythm instrument, and played constantly, sometimes louder than George's leads, and the rythm guitarist is completely unnecessary, with George's skill at playing rythm and lead simultaneously. He is best with a three piece band. Saw him on his first tour, in a fairly large venue. With an audience of only about 100 people, he walked out in the middle of us on some lined up tables and just Jammed! No one had seen him before, and didn't know where to sit, I picked a spot 1st row, next to the line of tables. That was the right spot! I had bought 4 tickets, but couldn't get any of my friends to go, because they never heard of him. I got new friends after that! Sold the other tickets while standing in line, for the doors to open. 😊

One of the best things about you is your love of so many types of rock music. You remind me of what it felt like to live in the late 60s, 70s, and 80s when every time you turned the FM radio on there was a new band to knock your socks off. I went to over 100 concerts, my first was The Animals in 1966/7. Your joy and enthusiasm for the incredible range of music from that time period is so very very pleasing. You are just great! Thanks ever so much.

The man with square guitar and playing pool is the legendary Bo Diddley. The older demeanor looking gentleman was Willie Mosconi. He was an American pocket billiards player who was men's world champion 15 times between 1941 and 1957. His gentlemanly appearance and demeanor helped to establish pocket billiards as a reputable pastime.

He is the blues guitarist who played a huge role in the transition of blues to rock in the 60s. George's guitar is a Gibson ES-125 (with P-90 Soapbar pickups), combined with a combo amp that is cranked all the way up. Bo Diddley's guitar is a Gretsch Jupiter Thunderbird You Belong To The City by Glenn Frey (of The Eagles) opens with a sax solo that is very mellow. I miss that we don't get the sax in most music these days.

This is quality drinking music. All of his stuff is. The guy with the square guitar is Bo Diddley. George is a blues man at heart, and Bo Diddley is one of the most important blues players ever. He's almost like one of the early inventors of rock and roll. George covered one of his tunes: "Who Do You Love?" and it's great. His best cover was when he took John Lee Hooker's (one of the GREATEST blues players ever) tunes "House Rent Boogie" and "One Bourbon, One Scotch, and one Beer" and did it all as one song. I think it's just under "One Bourbon, One Scotch, and One Beer," and it smokes. I remember the first time I beat my old man at pool, we were playing Thorogood tunes on the jukebox at Moe's Billiards, and "I Drink Alone" was on when I won. Keep digging into electric blues! You'll dig it!

George is one of the great boogie woogie guitarists. I really hope you do the live version of One Bourbon, One Scotch, and One Beer. It shows off how great his band is, and he features another blues/boogie woogie guy as well. Do what you enjoy. Don't be afraid to try stuff, as this is about you passing your joy on to us. We should be willing to let you enjoy what you want. That is the fair exchange.

George was responsible for the blues/rock revival. Imo.

Saw George back in the early 90s, great live band.... the square box guitar was a tribute to folks that would make a guitar out of anything they could find.....cigar box guitars....I have two cigar box guitars myself, very fun to play

Some more Thorogood to jump into: Bourbon, Scotch And Beer, I Drink Alone, Get A Haircut, Talks, Too Much, Madison Blues, Hand Jive, and many more. His catalogue is filled with a mixture of originals and covers of old blues standards.

If you have the notion & time, watch the live version, just to watch him perform🔥. That guitar riff is about the most recognizable ever (it's George, btw). So glad you did this one! (and hey, you did the "stutter" about the best I've heard!)
