RUSH is one of those bands that never disappoints! The entire 2112 album is amazing! Another band with a unique sound that has a killer first album is Boston! No need to apologize for listening to different artists or genres.God created us all with creativity, and music is a prime example. We may not all like the same thing, but we can appreciate gift of all kinds of music.I grew up in the 70's and love that time period of music.I live 70's rock and metal. My dad taught me to live old style crooners like Bobby Darin and Tony Bennet.I adore really old ragtime jazz, especially Louis Armstrong! I love Motown, like the Temptations and Sam Cooke,Etta James, and so many early greats.I love Chris Stapleton and bluesy Country.I love John Denver and Karen Carpenter to soothe my soul...Who doesn't love some psychedelic 60's vibe, and the grit of Janis Joplin and Joe Cocker? The point is,it's a great big world full of creative music out there, and what hits you a certain way,may not hit somebody else exactly the same. It's all good. The beauty is in the discovery!🎛🎸🥁🎻🎺🎹🎙🎶😉😎

The actual live vid Xanadu-Exit Stage Left 1981!!! You will be AMAZED! Just so ya know… Geddy Lee does all the bass/keyboard/singing. I got to see Rush in 1981. Moving Pictures tour. Just got my driver's license, and took my little sister to the show. I've seen a lot of bands over the years, I'm 59 now. Rush sounds in concert just like they do on their albums. Hearing "The Spirit of Radio" to this day still brings a little mist to the eyes. Growing up in a really messed up household, the radio was my sanctuary. I'm really happy that you found Rush. Music is the one thing that binds all of us. The best music is something like The Spirit of Radio, at least for me. The song makes me happy, reminiscent, a bit sad, and hopeful all in a few minutes. Keep turning that dial kiddo, I'll definitely be checking on you.

all bands have their detractors and Rush more than most (Geddy's voice it has to be said is an acquired taste, but once acquired, always admired). it's once you get beyond the three geeks singing about science and start to look at their musicianship and lyrics that you have to hold your hands up and surrender to their utter brilliance. having been in bands of 6, 5, 4, 3 and 2 (and now just the one) members, i can tell you that more people equals more politics, more arguments and disagreements about the music. three is a good number for democratic decisions: there is always a majority, and decisions are made quickly. with regards to their sound - once they'd started having new technologies thrown at them, they decided they would embrace the revolution and started working on how to incorporate keyboards into the band without having to recruit new members. both guitarists began using Taurus bass pedals (they are played with the feet. that's one disintegrating at 8:05), so that when the bass guitar drops out and Geddy reverts to keys, the sound can be bolstered at the bottom end. at some point you have to watch the Exit...Stage Left film, so maybe a reaction to The Trees/Xanadu will give you an idea of their onstage capabilities. strap in.

Rush is great for so many reasons not only an amazing power trio but they’re just an amazing group of guys like just don’t find too much of that in the rock industry these days. But I’ve loved rush ever since I was about seven years old, and that was the very first song that I ever heard by them and that part where it slows down in the middle is what sold me on the band. I am a 90s kid I grew up listening to a lot of 90s rock but also my parents introduced me to these guys in several more bands from this area and I’ve just enjoyed the experience. I can’t wait to go on this rush ride with you so that way you can, have someone who knows who they are to experience it with.

Out of all of their songs over 40 years, this is the Rushiest song they ever did. It's more representative of them than any other I think. It has every little trait and quirk they're known for. If you want to hear intense hard vocals, they have a very proggy, very hard song called Cygnus X-1. It's.... different. It's a sci-fi prog-rock piece.

You really need to do their instrumental "YYZ". The tapestry that these three can weave musically speaking only through their instruments is mesmerizing, and they each do a bunch of little mini solos thoughout the song. It's really stellar. The opening of the song is also a bit of a meme among musicians. Several bands have played the opening to YYZ live, only to then not play it and instead play something else. Notably, Primus (which is a whole other rabbit hole for you to delve) did it on their studio version of "To Defy the Laws of Tradition".

Fair play to you mate for giving Rush a go, and as an old Rush geezer I'm delighted you are enjoying them! For other tracks - maybe try The Camera Eye, The Trees, Subdivisions or my personal favourite: Xanadu.

Dude, I love your honest breakdowns and reactions to these songs that I grew up listening to. It would have been cool to have had someone in the group of friends that paid as much attention to the small details of the music back min the 70's and 80's. I find myself going back and re-listening to some of the songs you reacted to, and I see stuff I didn't notice before!!!!!

Another 3-piece band, from a decade earlier, is Emerson, Lake & Palmer! Also known as, ELP, they were all from other successful bands before... this type of gathering of previously successful musicians into a new group was often referred to as a Supergroup. These guys were definitely super! If you are intrigued, I recommend "Lucky Man" (1970). Note: Make sure your search includes "ELP" because there is another unrelated song from the 90s with the same title. Cheers!

I just subscribed to watch you hear more Rush for the first time. This was my band in highschool and college, and nobody is better at what they do. Try the song Freewill. There’s one point where they all solo at the same time, and when it merges together- pure magic. Enjoy!

The (bromantic) comedy "I Love You Man" is about a couple of guys who are crazy about Rush. The band makes an appearance.

The 1981 live version (Exit Stage Left) of Xanadu is probably the best live performance ever. You can see that every single sound in that 12 minute epic song, is generated by the 3 guys. This should be one of the first songs aliens are introduced to upon arrival. But that's for later. As I see you progress, here are a few songs you will surely enjoy : Subdivisions, Vital signs, Limelight and Analog Kid... The easy to listen to songs and it will further familiarize yourself with the band before digging into the real magic that is RUSH. And as always READ THE LYRICS or have them at hand as you listen. The drumming is only half of Neil Peart (RIP)'s genius. Come on Mollyboy, give the Rush community a new bone !!! We love watching young Hip hop guys be baffled and amazed by our favourite band ever !!! You could be that new channel we all watch every time a new Rush reaction comes out !!!!!!!

Rush fans are the most devoted! My favorite Rush song, a seven minute instrumental tour de force! Awesome! You also need to watch Neil’s drum solo from Frankfurt. Greatest drummer ever!
