@@metronome7698 are you serious? I hope you mean double pedal as in the pedals that do 2 hits in a single kick, because I refuse to believe you think playing like that using a single pedal (one foot) is physically possible.
Jason Bradford I’m not sure what else I could possibly mean by double peddle, but maybe I wasn’t exactly clear enough? I meant a peddle that hits the drum twice in one kick.
@@metronome7698 yeah, I figured. But you did fail to be a bit more specific, as double pedal is more commonly used when talking about, well, double bass pedals. But glad I got it. I actually didn't even know he used those special kind of pedals, thanks for the tidbit. Have a good one!
Fun fact: Herman Li (the lead guitarist) recently acknowledged a youtuber called TheDooo for pretty much perfectly playing the main solo of this song, on a hellokitty guitar no less
I am a 63-year-old woman and have never heard of this group before. I am absolutely blown away as he is thanks for the heads up!!! I just ordered one of those CDs with that song on it! Thank you!
Yeah, actually I was kinda pissed about that the first time I watched the video 'cause not only the ending is cut short, but the first half of the fucking guitar solo is cut too! Like, who the fuck would do that and why?!
I used to be obsessed with song I saw them live in my home town and the guitarist saw me in the crowed and smiled. Such a good gig as it was small and not packed. They are this good live.
Thanks for proving that you haven't listened to them live properly. You don't magically lose all your skill when you stand up. Sure, it's a little more awkward and takes some getting used to, but Sam and Herman have been playing for decades between the two of them. You think they aren't used to it by now? Nobody cares what days you claim to be from, it's completely unrelated to the subject. Trying to squeeze in something for your epeen? At least you got one part right, there's no fanboy shit here. I don't even listen to the band, I just know when a band is genuinely poor, and when people have to compensate by hopping on the band wagon because it's "cool" to hate something.
i just said i did, can't you read, you need to read all this then reply. You don't play guitar mate or you would know if you sit in a classical position ( if your right handed) with the guitar on your left knee, go try it and look at your hand position and feel the relaxed natural feeling your tendons in your forearm take. OK now from the minor 3d of E on the 5th string, play this string skipping arpeggio in Em. 3rd, 7th, root(octave higher) right up to the E on the 12th fret on the high E and back again. OK. Now stand up lower your strap so your guitar is very low like a rock star, play the same arpeggio. Notice your hand position the tension in your forearm and the fact that you will struggle a little more to make the stretches. If you practice standing up with your guitar in the same position you play live your muscle memory will develop differently. Have you never seen a REAL great player put his foot on the fold back for a complex solo, guess why? because its easier to play cleaner. fuckn fanboy scum, I've have a bachelor degree in contemporary music. I actually played in bands and recorded real albums, we recorded at the Butterfly effects managers house. You miss my point because your a fan boy. youtube search Ro Armu Tani, that was one of the more commercial bands i played in. those songs were re-written multiable times 14 min songs became 3-4 min catchy tunes, we removed all the big solos. Its nice to have big epic complex solos but when you have to play that night after night you spend more time just keeping your chops up plus its easier to jump about like a dickhead and head bang.
The Kurgan bro quit with all the hate, for fuck sake are you a metal head or are you a little bitch? I play guitar and while it's more relaxed to play sitting down with guitar on left knee, Playing standing up is not much different, a little bit more difficult not by much. And definitely not impossible, Just practice more, you probably aren't very good that's why you're spewing so much hate, You poser
People have already pointed it out but Painkiller by Judas Priest and Hangar 18 by Megadeth are two guitar-packed-to-the-maximum songs you have to listen to! :)
PlexyPanda here's the link in case of sb'd like to check it but was to lazy to type it ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-quPliK3eAy4.html
Metal is art, not only the most beautiful art in music BY FAR, they are also the greatest performances in any music genre that there ever was and ever will be.
I mean, to be fair, Dragonforce definitely falls on the performance side of things. What the guitarists are playing isn't all that fast or complex, however, making your hands look like they're jumping all over the place and using a very frantic feeling backing track makes it seem far, far, far faster, it's a pretty good trick, but it is a trick. It's still shreddy and all, but nothing crazy.
I am a guitar player and to give ya idea.. to be able to play solo's like these. you have to practice 4 to 6 hours a day just to keep the dexterity up to that level. they may take a day or so off.. but yeah really 4 to 6 hours a day. so great to see someone digging and getting mind blown over the guitar work. alot of technique and tons of practice
I was curious (not a musician but find the process of making music, not to mention how instruments are made, fascinating) about how one can improve their dexterity to such an incredible degree. Specifically, what sorts of exercises/techniques would a guitarist use other than actually playing their guitar? If this is a ridiculous question, please forgive my ignorance.
@@JustIn-op6oy as a pianist, I can answer too. Literally just practicing. You need to slowly pick a pace with songs, going on with harder ones to develop technique. On my channel, it's mostly videos for fun and songs I played months ago, but progress is constant. Just never stop practicing and you can get good at everything. If you keep playing instruments for a long time, if you compare songs you picked up months ago and one you picked up last week, there would be a great difference.
My gf wanted to meet them so we got to see them at a meet n greet at Mayhem Fest and they were doing 'themed' photos with the fans. When it came time for the guy to take the photo, my gf hugged me so all the band's members were hugging and fake-kissing in the background, I guess they thought the theme was love..? Made for a hilarious photo with all of them!
My wife introduced me to Dragonforce 10 years ago when we first met. I had the exact react you did when they started that guitar work. It freaking blew my mind that anyone could play that fast for that long. It hurts me hands just thinking about trying.
"How does he play like that?" He plays like that live to, its bat shit insane, they're nice guys too, got to meet them at a kamelot show, also they have a new vocalist, I personally prefer the new vocalist
Personally I prefer ZP’s voice, but Marc’s definitely not bad. But you can DEFINITELY hear the difference, especially when Marc sings some of the older stuff, haha. “THREW THE FAIYAH AND THE FLAYMES”
Him: Widens his eyes with how impressed and how he’s loving DragonForce and is becoming a metal head. Me: (Laughing) YAAAASSSS HE’S GOT IT!!! I LOVE IT!!!
Hey just so you know, it's an edited version of the song, the song is originally 7min long. But it was way too long for the common ppl so they cutted off the song to make it a 5min (wich is still long for a radio/video clip format) and made it more "explosive". You should check the entire song tho. The differences are subtile here and there in apperence but, hey, two minutes cut still :3
"I've never listened to it in its entirety before." And you still haven't done so. Find an mp3 of it, hear the actual full song. I still can't believe that in the OFFICIAL VIDEO, they skipped a huge chunk of the big solo and THE WHOLE THIRD VERSE. What a terrible decision.
Ugh I hate it when artists do that. It’s not even just this song. I’m thinking it’s because they don’t have enough of a budget for the video to do the whole thing.
@mark tamayo Yeah. The artists might not even have had a say in it. There's a record label behind them doing the publishing and marketing. Not that I know anything about their deal or anything, but they might have been forced to do it for the reason you listed: it's easier to sell "commercial standard length" tracks i.e. easier to get slots for them on the radio and TV.
Same thing with highway to oblivion they cut it down to 4 mins instead of 7 mins. Yet Metallica's one mv played the entire song , maybe nowadays mv should be 4 mins in order to produce a music video.
This is actually the short version, there's a longer 7 minute full version of this song. Other good songs by Dragonforce: Cry Thunder, Heros of our time, basically the whole Maximum Overload Album...
It's a great song, but this version is a bit shorter DragonForce fans are a bit divided because they changed singers. Haters claim they don't/can't play there own stuff live. Personally I really like the band, very talented and gives a lot of energy. If you want more, Ashes of the dawn, Cry Thunder, Fury of the storm, Operation ground and pound (live version!!!)
Reinderp The haters are referring to some technical glitches during a tour a decade ago and won't let it die even though there's now hundreds-thousands of videos proving they can play live thanks to youtube
They used to suck ass live, but on the tour video from Japan recently, they crushed their whole set, including Fury of the Storm and TTFAF. I don't doubt that they wrote TTFAF well above their skill level at the time, but they've really grown into it. Unfortunately, they used such heavy effects on parts of the song on the album, they'll probably never recreate it perfectly live, but whatever. They're close enough that it doesn't really make that big a difference.
Never really a Dragonforce fan but this song is an absolute masterpiece. Everything about it is epic in any genre of music. The vocals, guitar and drums are just out of this world. Bravo 👏
Tip: Avoid videoclips, they are likely to cut of parts of the songs.U could try going for lyric videos,so u can hear the full song and follow the message.
and they aren't playing the actual solos in this clip.they just mimic crazy stuff to look cooler. It's easy to see if u pay attetion to what he is doing and the actual sound of the solo.He can play the solos tho, just over does it on the clip.
The music video has a lot of parts cuted man, later check out the album version. But yeah, this song is so cool, I don't understand the hate here... Please, react to Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars ! (At Sonic Pump Studios please)
For Sabaton I'd say as a first time react Carolus Rex, Primo Victoria, or Screaming Eagles would be the best songs. But in all reality any sabaton song would be great.
Another good Dragonforce song is Land Where Dragons Rule and it's actually the very first one I head, my little brother, who is a huge metal head, let me hear it once and told me the band name and I got to looking around for them and that's how I found Dragonforce and their awesome music...and even more awesome shreds. Also when I say my little bro is a metal head..I mean he listens to pretty much any type of metal music..heavy, grunge, growl, screamo..if it's metal he's probably listened to at least one song from each type.
You have to listen to Dream Theater!!! People who haven't actually delved into their discography will tell you to start with The Dance of Eternity, As I Am, Panic Attack, etc, but you have to go to the really good stuff: Take the Time Under a Glass Moon (one the best and most iconic Petrucci's solo) Learning to Live 6:00 (yup, that's the name of the song) Voices (one of the best if not the best Petrucci solo) Scarred A Change of Seasons (I promise you this will be a life changing experience) Hell's Kitchen / Lines in The Sand (another strong candidate for best Petrucci solo) Fatal tragedy Beyond This Life Home The Spirit Carries On The Glass Prison The Great Debate Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (a 42 mins suite split into 8 songs) This Dying Soul Stream of Consciousness In the Name of God Octavarium In the Presence of Enemies Pts. 1 and 2 Constant Motion The Dark Eternal Night The Ministry of Lost Souls A Nightmare to Remember The Shattered Fortress The Count of Tuscany Lost Not Forgotten Breaking All Illusions Illumination Theory A New Beginning Our New World
hahahahahahaha I should've been more clear. I meant like, those in the list would be all good choices, I obviously didn't expect Alex to do them all xD
And? Their bassist Adrian Lambert has lots of skill on bass. He has harmonized guitar solos on a 6 string bass and he has insane screams. He also played in Sonic Firestorm and Inhuman Rampage albums and all of his basslines are fingerstyle.
How am I just now thinking of this? You need to check out Rage Against The Machine! I would start with Sleep Now In The Fire. This would play to your interest in hip hop and your budding interest in metal.
A lot of people wouldn't be able to sing to their potential trying to sing about something that traumatic. That's what makes it so crazy.. real, raw emotion. The song isn't about singing well. Its about telling that story and getting it out.
Nah, that goes to Jason Richardson He is the best technical, and honestly just listen to him you'll see why, the only other person I put up there would be Buckethead
Herman Li and the other guy (don't know his name) are certainly fast, but in terms of technical skill, they're not the best. I would give that title to John Petrucci of Dream Theater, and other guitarists on his level (I don't know any by name since I've only recently started really exploring metal).
Tim Smith the other guy (Sam Totman) is far better than Herman Li. Herman is just speed, but Sam can play really good. He prooved it in their last three albums with the new singer, Herman on the other hand, just speed.
React to Sons of Winter And Stars by Wintersun. This song is an epic 13min masterpiece. It will blow your mind. It's pure epicness. Nothing more to say about this song.
You know man, this is not even the full version of the song: the full version, witch is the same of Guitar Heroes, is 7 minutes kong and the solos are even more powerfull than this. I really suggest you to get it: you won't regret it^^
Dude if you like this Dragonforce song, you should check out Soldiers of the Wasteland, The Game, Three Hammers, Ashes of the Dawn, and Heroes of our Time. There is so much good music out there for you to experience!
