Man...Gave me the feels watching you connect with this band! Their lead guitarist is my biggest influence musically and to see someone else connect with it is amazing.
Hey, just wanted to say that you come across as a very intelligent, cultured guy and as a sworn metalhead, I'm very interested in your opinions. It's great to see you appreciating this kind of music! :)
If you like this one try these, In Flames - Cloud Connected In Flames - Reroute to Remain In Flames - Crawl through Knives. In Flames - My Sweet Shadow. In Flames - Trigger
Both of you hit some of my favorite songs by them. For additional inputs sake - In Flames - Touch of Red In Flames - Quiet Place In Flames - Alias In Flames - You're Bedtime Story is Scaring Everyone - even with how few words are spoken >:)
@@jonteguy I'm a huge fan of the "I, the Mask" album. Wore a shirt to work and at one of the places I had a pick-up, the guy there asked if it was my favorite In Flames album. "I, The Mask, Siren Charms, Clayman and Rerout to Remain and Sound of a Playground Fading". Makes you quite popular among customers when you have a shirt with a band they like.
Yes I love them for that. Not afraid to change up their sound, but still stick to their roots. Those newer songs they dropped recently have that old sound, I love it.
First song I ever heard by them. The music video for it was on the special features for Alone In The Dark (shit movie, amazing soundtrack). Instantly went out and bought all their CDs. Still at the top of the list for me.
In Flames are still my favourite band of all time. Granted, their last three albums leave much to be desired, but, everything up until A Sense Of Purpose is gold in my opinion.
I'm well aware of Jesper's departure and history with depression and alcohol abuse. Also, A Sense Of Purpose is the album that got me into the band. Sure, it's no longer my number one favourite (that honor goes to Soundtrack To Your Escape), but, that album still stands at number 2 for me personally. There are some good tracks on the newer stuff like Fear Is The Weakness or When The World Explodes, but, for the most part, I haven't really been pleased with the post Jesper era. To be clear though, they aren't horrible. Their just meh if you ask me.
im a big fan of in flames, but i would argue that a sense of purpose was a fantastic album, just because something is softer doesnt make it a bad album, just different.
AnimetalViking Right there with you on When the World Explodes, awesome song, but for me nothing tops My Sweet Shadow and Bullet Ride (slightly older, I know).
Lol. Metal head reacting to hip hop... "why does he keep pointing at his dick? Is this an exercise video for amnesiacs? Put your hands in the air! Whats my motherfucking name¡?"
Gojira - Art of Dying 36 Crazyfists - The all Night Lights All that Remains - This Calling Mudvayne - Dig As i lay Dying- Forever all older but verry good
In Flames: Lunar Strain -> Behind Space, Clad In Shadows, In Flames; The Jester Race -> Moonshield, The Jester's Dance, Artifacts Of The Black Rain, December Flower; Whoracle -> Jotun, Gyroscope, Jester Script Transfigured; Colony -> Embody The Invisible, Ordinary Story, Colony, Zombie Inc, Coerced Coexistence, Man Made God; Clayman -> Pinball Map, Only For The Weak, Clayman; Reroute To Remain -> System, Trigger, Cloud Connected; Soundtrack To Your Escape -> The Quiet Place, Touch Of Red, My Sweet Shadow; Come Clarity -> Take This Life, Leeches, Come Clarity, Crawl Through Knives; A Sense Of Purpose -> The Mirror's Truth, Disconnected, Alias, Delight And Angers, March To The Shore; Sounds Of A Playground Fading -> Deliver Us, Where The Dead Ships Dwell; Siren Charms -> Paralyzed, Through Oblivion, When The World Explodes, Rusted Nail; Battles -> Through My Eyes, Underneath My Skin, Save Me; [EP]Black-Ash Inheritance -> Goliaths Disarm Their Davids , Acoustic Medley;
In Flames! I been a fan since 2001. You should listen to The Quiet Place or Lord Hypnos or December Flower. The guitar solo on December Flower is probably the best solo in all of metal genre history. They got so many awesome songs. Where the Dead Ships Dwell is awesome. Episode 666, Jotun, Like You Better Dead, the list goes on and on. lol
The Jester Race has the better solo in my opinion, but December Flower is number two! ^_^ But yeah, older In Flames would be cool to see! I listened to them since their first album and actually stopped listening to them by the time Clayman was released.
You're reactions take me back to my middle school years when I first got into this genre and fell in love with it. You are amazing keep doing what you do 💜 love you man!!!
Alex Hefner please don't stop what you do. Tbh your videos get me through the day simply because of your humor and pure heart. Thank you for everything you are 💜💜
Daniel r I would love to hear his thoughts on this one. Its fun to look at the story of the song and really enjoy all the pieces of the song that come together beautifully. RIP The REV.
Only for the weak is the first song with proper melodeath screams that I heard (and loved) so I can recognize myself in your reaction quite a bit :D It got me deep deep into those more hardcore metal waters. What I would recommend you now is Dark Fortress - As the world keels over It's a beautiful song, you might like it as well
Oh boy, the good old times of In flames. If your want some more of their best songs try to hear December Flower, Jotun and Embody the Invisible. A lot of wonderful riffs and melodies on these ones
I personally would've suggested Zombie Inc, Swim, or Pinball Map first for old IF. For newer prolly woulda' went with Alias, Ropes, or Where the Dead Ships Dwell. Goliaths Disarm Their Davids is up there, too but some songs by IF work better once you have delved deeper into them. Only For the Weak is a good song but I don't think it shows off their full spectrum but can be easy to digest for someone who is fresh to metal.
Battles is an good album, but pretty much everything that they released after Come Clarity sucked...Nothing will beat the Jester Race- Clayman era, they were the KINGS of Melodic Death Metal back in the day
*Are a great band. Their latest work is great. I don't like the elitist mindset where if a band sounds more mainstream then the music is bad. You may not be like that but a lot of old In Flames fans are.
pewukut Yeah I listen to a ton of In flames old and new stuff but the only song from battles I listen to is The end. Just for perspective I made a list of my favorites on Spotify: open.spotify.com/user/simonliii/playlist/5QUEds3Fb2EWa5tkeP2PIt?si=zEXDVwEQS663rwbgQGL3Cg
I'm cool with bands changing even if I don't like the change. It is art after all. I'm certainly no elitist, I listen to Babymetal for fucks sake lol. New In Flames sucks IMO!
As a metal fan from Sweden, can't argue with this pick. In Flames is my al favourite group of all time. The end of the 90s to early 2000s is the all best. Enjoy dude!
Judging by your reaction to certain bands like Gojira and In Flames, and particularly how you react to certain parts of each song, you certainly enjoy musicianship and the technical aspect to songs. So I would highly recommend Dream Theatre, particularly The Dance of Eternity and Metropolis Part 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper. You will LOVE it! And i mentioned this in your Metallica: For Whom the Bell Tolls video, you should definitely do ORION!! Peace.
I fucking cannot comprehend how the weakest song from Clayman and weakest and I would even say the worst song Nerve by Soilwok (god dammit, Stabbing the Drama has so many cool songs, but this one is just awful) are considered the greatest. The Crestfallen, Stabbing The Drama, Distance or Blind Eye Halo are much better songs from that album, but everyone is going apeshit about Nerve every single time. It's just sad.
Soilwork, compared to In Flames, have kept closer to their original sound. Their next album will probably be more heavy again, seeing how they are going back to older logoes and such. But I have loved all of their newest albums. Imo, Soilwork doesn't have one bad album. ALl of them have some weak songs tho.
YES their album diversity is unreal, they keep it very interesting. I made an exhausting comment on IF recommendations, but yeah DT deserve their time eventually...
I feel like "Gone With the Wind" into "Doomsday" would be great. Asking to do a lot, but with the way he researches, he would first hear gone with the wind about him trying to cope with cancer, and then the follow up doomsday about the band trying to come to terms with Tom's passing from cancer. Either way can't go wrong!
In flames and soilwork made 2 different songs with them together in the videos. Trigger is in flames's song and soilwork made Rejection Role. Have a look Alex it's super interesting! Regards
strikerromanov i completely agree! It would be awesome to do both songs and music videos in one reaction video. Both bands are incredible but far too underrated.
Isaac Duplantis Thief vocalist was originally part of Attack Attack! and they are really good live. Without Attack Attack! Beartooth wouldn't have as much influence as they do now in my opinion.
Always love seeing people become In Flames fans. I have a half sleeve that's all In Flames on my right arm and plan on expanding it to a full. This band saved my life when I was 15 (the song Come Clarity to be exact). Last year I got to meet the band and tell them my story after they got done admiring my sleeve and their reactions couldn't be put into words. They hugged me and told how much it means to them that their music affected someone that much. I left shaking from nerves being shot. Never have I ever met a band like In Flames. The most amazing and down to Earth people you could ever meet.
Love it man. Always happy to see someone enjoying metal. As a metalhead you make me wanna do reaction videos for hip hop songs. The genres have so much in common for crossover if you have the ear for it
"Windir - journey to the end" it will blow your mind *Update* - life changing songs: - Agalloch - "The Hawthorne Passage" - Virgin Steele - "Veni,Vidi,Vici" - Bathory - "The Woodwoman" - Amorphis "Black winter day"
This Concert in 2003 was one of the most intense gigs i've ever been to. The first time I believed the guy on stage saying: "You're best crowd we ever had" totally amazing!
Seen in Flames live twice (and a third time at a festival but I didn't stay long) I wasn't impressed until I heard this song, it really is a game changer.
I guess this popped up in my feed because In Flames is my favorite band. You just listened to one of the dozens of great songs from my favorite band. That's what you did.
Bro I really have lots of love for your content.i loved metal and hip hop growing up and it was my favorite thing to do to get others to check out metal and see there reactions.so your videos are awesome.
I really like how you break down these songs. I've been listening to these songs for years and learn something new about them from watching these videos.
Yes, my guy! Finally some Scandinavian melodic death metal!!! I’ve been hoping! I’ve also recommended. You dug this and want more, why not try Soilwork: Petrichor By Sulphur? Also, Tongue bu the same. Or Weapon of Vanity? Or Rejection Role? Or As We Speak? They have a huge discography. And they’re rad as hell. Still also gonna plug Demon Hunter - Lifewar. Strangely enough, DH has a song “Collapsing” and the guest vocalist is the vocalist from Soilwork. Small world...
The vocalist from Soilwork (Speed) has also done lot of vocals for Italian Melodic Metal band "Disarmonia Mundi". They're great! Check out "Disarmonia Mundi - Mind Tricks 🤘👍
Oh hell yes to Petrichor By Sulphur! Amazing song. Also Weapon of Vanity...but I always thought of that being one song together with Crestfallen and I can't imagine it being listened to on its own.
In Flames - Take this life, or just about anything else from Come Clarity. Little bit of a different sound from them, or you could go way back in their catalog to the 90's with something off Lunar strain, Whoracle, The Jester Race or Colony. Have also seen a few other people mention August Burns Red..another great band you should check out. Really unique sound as well IMO. Lots of time signature changes.
Dude, I discovered your channel about a week ago and I simply love your enthusiasm you put in your videos! Keep it up, man! I hope you had fun at the trivium concert :) If you wanna get into In Flames more, I recommend 'My Sweet Shadow', 'Sounds of a Playground Fading' or 'Trigger'. Cheers from Germany!
Hey Alex, I just discovered Your channel one day ago, and I enjoy watching You and Your expressions with a lot of fun! ;-) :-) Thank You for sharing Your Metalreactions!!! Allthough You get tons and tons of hints like „watch this“ and „react to that“ and my chance to get Your attention is very low, I still try to recommend You something very special in Heavy Metal. Since i was a kid, I'm listening to this band, and over the decades their music is still so special and uncomparable to me! I was lucky enough to meet them in person and now I got their autographs tatooed on my arm! Since the beginning in the 80ies there's a special bond between the Fans and their Kings of Metal, as they named them. To make it not even more thrilling - they are called MANOWAR !!!! I considered a lot within the last 30 hours, wich of the hymns would be perfect to listen to, if You don't know Manowar at all, and the one, that shows most of the typicall elements of their magnificent music is „The Power Of Thy Sword“!! It's so majestic, so bombastic, heroic, pathetic, epic, diversified .. I don't want to reveal much more! Just - please - listen to it! And I am absolutely shure - You won't regret it!!!! And You will realize: The Music of Manowar is like a fertilizer for Your chest hair !!!! Thank You so much in advance and headbanging greetings from a german Metalwarrior Ivory Elvenson
Hotdog Zanzibar thats cool, but he should show some love to the ladies of metal. And also diversify away from American metal a bit (Amon Amarth and In Flames were a great start). Plenty of clean vocals in the symphonic metal genre too. Maybe its time he watches Sam Dunn’s headbangers journey :P
Actually one of the good reactors I've seen on RU-vid, you provide meaningful and insightful commentary rather than just watching the video with a blank expression!
