What you were hearing at the beginning is the guitar. They're called "triplets" its a fast down-up-down stroke typically on the top strings. Its thunderous and beautiful. This band paved the way for a lot of metal bands and the genre as a whole

I was once told by someone, they didn’t like Slayer because their songs didn’t make sense. To which I replied “It’s Slayer, it doesn’t have to make sense.” And turned the music up to 11.

I remember when my mom took me to a slayer concert at 16. They were a bit older, but they still blew that stadium wide open. The camaraderie between Slayer fans is unreal and unlike any other band I’ve ever seen after hundreds of concerts. My mom said she had never felt a band with energy like this. The amps literally go through you.

Raining Blood (or just the Reign in Blood album as a whole) is a pretty intense start for listening to slayer. I started with seasons in the abyss, which is one of their more mellow (mellow in relevance to slayer) albums. The title track is a good place to start (be like "wait. is this the same group???"). There is also South of Heaven album with the title track and Mandatory suicide being good options. And also Eyes of The Insane off of Christ Illusion

Yes, Slayer is amazing live. I'm a child of the 80's and grew up going to Metal concerts. The energy alone puts Slayer in the top 5 metal shows IMO.

The craziest thing to see live? YES. YES IT IS! I saw Slayer on the Clash Of The Titans tour (1990) and when the song kicked in the first two sections of chairs on the floor disappeared (I think the fans ate them) and a massive mosh pit was set up. This was years before the floor was an open area. Luckily security let the mosh pit carry on and a good night was had by all.

I suggest starting out with Seasons in the Abyss. It’s not slow, but definitely slower than this. Raining Blood is a bit of a crazy start for Slayer

Been blessed to see them live twice. They put on one hell of a show! The one show they did this followed by Angel of Death, and my respect and love for Dave as a drummer was cemented, like the calves of steel that man must have.

Yes, Slayer is the craziest band to see live. At their shows, I've seen people get carried out, taken to the hospital, and return to the show. I've been knocked over the barricade and into the sound board. There is nothing that won't happen at a Slayer show. It is the most violent, chaotic, insane experience you will ever have.

Here's a story for you: I'll always remember one of the Slayer shows I went to. It was in a big outdoor amphitheater. It was night time and looked like it was going to start raining at any moment. When the intro to this song started, you could see lightning bolts crackling across the sky, above the stage. As soon as the DO DO DO hit, and the guitars played that familiar riff, it started pouring rain. It rained through the entire song. I'll never forget that show.

Take into perspective this song was an absolute inspiration and drive to all that was dark , fast, and all that is metal! Yes a must see 12 time for me!

yeah... this is pretty intense thrash metal. It's a lot of mix ups and speed changes and craziness. Honestly I wouldn't recommend this as an introductory track.

Seasons in the Abyss and Angel of Death are both worth a listen. Not a huge Slayer fan (yet), but these two songs are rock solid. Saw Slayer once live and they were really good.

I’m a metalhead and love Slayer. But it’s such eye opening and out of this world first listen and many may not get it or be into it. I was definitely like that.

Jst started checking out music 'reaction' videos for the 1st time today. So you're only the 2nd 'RU-vidr' (as my daughter says) doing this type of video that I've checked out, and I already subscribed because so far I've been enjoying the vids I've seen. 👍🏻 While there are songs/artists in every music genre that I enjoy, and I have a variety of different faves - some of my longtime loves, genres that had significant influence in my life, are metal & punk.. Both of which have *some* representation in the mainstream, but are also musical styles which definitely aren't necessarily very familiar or appealing to broad audiences in the general population. So because of that, as someone who's been consuming that kinda music for so long that I don't have any real objectivity in how I hear it, because I don't know a time when I didn't hear it really. That being said, I've found these vids particularly interesting because its neat getting to see what different ppl think. So far I've been pleasantly surprised by how well received the songs/music has been too. Slayer is one of my favorite bands. I can totally respect your review though. Think its more of an acquired taste. -- So I have recommendation for you: South of Heaven, and also War Ensemble. 🤘🏻🙂👍🏻

If you listen to any other song by slayer, make sure it is Angel of Death. It's iconic in the world of metal. Just as much if not more than this song.

Dave Lombardo was a huge influence on my learning to play drums, learning to play thrash on double bass was like losing my viirginity.

trying to learn the bass part of this song - it's freaking crazy at parts especially the end but to me that's one of the easy parts. Also seeing them this year and some announced festivals they're doing next year, touch wood Download is one

The unbelievable drums are made by Dave lombardo (until 1992) and he's one of the best and most influecer drummers in the history of music, I recommended you the Slayer discography until the last Lombardo's Album, called "Seasons In The Abyss"

I've been lucky enough to finally see them live. Saw them a couple years ago and they were just as badass as they ever have been. It's an experience and a half lol.
