Hip Hop Heads react to Peter Frampton: Do You Feel Like I Do!!! Simply Amazing!!

It's no secret that Peter Frampton is an absolute guitar legend, and this song is a true showcase of his talent. The way Peter's voice seamlessly blends with the guitar melody is absolutely stunning, and it's impossible not to get lost in the music. The way he hits those high notes and holds them out just gives me goosebumps every single time. The way he makes the guitar sing and scream at the same time is nothing short of magical.
But it's not just the music that makes this song so amazing. The lyrics are so relatable and emotional, and I find myself getting lost in them every time I listen. It's a song about love, about longing, about wanting to be with someone so badly that you can feel it in your bones. And who hasn't felt that way at some point in their life?

Thanks for mentioning that. I feel like it should be obvious what's going on, especially given how the video production overlays his picking hand with his vocalization. But then I knew what this was back in the day so I'm biased. The important thing is appreciation for the performance.

This song put Frampton in the limelight and was in a way, his downfall cause he could never duplicate it's success. Still you can't deny the man's musical talent. He was a superstar in his day. Eh, perhaps. He did have a real downfall. The Sgt. Peppers movie was terrible for him. The album after this sucked (with the single "I'm in you") But he was redeemed. And you know who did it? Because he went to school with his older brother? David Motherfucking Bowie. Glass Spider tour.

A TalkBox isn't any kind of synthesizer. It's entirely analogue. Instead of his guitar playing out of an amp, the TalkBox is like a mini-amp that sends the sound wave down that tube you saw him put in his mouth. The guitar sounds come out of that, and he shapes them with his mouth, just like he does with the vibrations from his vocal chords. And guitar face is very much like sex face. On any instrument, if you're *really* into it, your face matches how you feel, and you could care less how it looks.

At high volume levels like in this sort of context, over enough time using a talk box at these levels is enough to literally shake your teeth loose. That being said, didn’t stop me from getting one to figure out how to do this after first hearing this years ago. Teeth are still intact, but also I haven’t used it pushing over 100dB through that tube into my mouth. 🤟💚💯

He and David Bowie attended the same school..Frampton's father was Bowie's Art teacher..Bowie was 3 yrs. older, but Frampton was in a band at 12 (The Little Ravens), and Bowie was in his band (George and the Dragons) and they would spend lunch breaks together playing Buddy Holly songs..Bowie's real name was David Jones, but there was already an English bloke with the same name in a little band called The Monkees, so he changed it to Bowie.

He's playing the guitar through what's called a "talk box". That's actually the original talk box. He got it from the inventor. When he stepped over to the second microphone you can see him move the white box with his foot. The box has a driver (speaker) in it. He steps on the switch on top of the box which diverts the guitar signal from the amplifier to the driver in the box, which travels up the rubber hose in his mouth. then the guitar reflects from his mouth into the microphone. The guitar he was playing is a very early Gibson Les Paul Custom professional built in 1957. Back in the day, I think in the late 1970's he was scheduled to tour South America. They shipped all of their equipment by airplane which crashed, I want to say in Aruba maybe. He of course thought the Les Paul was lost forever. Fast forward to just a handful of years ago. Someone in the know went to hear a live local band on that island and realized that the guitar player was playing that guitar. Long story short. Peter owns that guitar again. It's in bad shape but, he still plays it on stage. He originally came to fame in the band Humble Pie when he was a teenager. They had many hits but, one of the most famous was a song written buy Ashford and Simpson who wrote for Motown. They wrote the song for Ray Charles but Humble Pie made the song iconic. Check out "I don't need no doctor"

The guitar he's playing is a custom made one of a kind,it's also on the cover of Frampton Comes Alive. He was playing in South America when the plane carrying his equipment, including that guitar, crashed.Several people died and he thought he'd lost that guitar but someone actually stole it from the wreckage. Fast forward 30 yrs. later, someone brought THAT same guitar into a repair shop and the owner,a Peter Frampton fan, knew exactly who it really belonged to. He took possession of it and contacted Peter and told him what he had. Here's the story if you want to hear it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Qo3VOHNksSw.html

A good portion of the Frampton Comes Alive double is recorded live at Winterland, simply epic.

Frampton played lead guitar for the 70 s group HUMBLE PIE. He blasted off when he went on his own in 1975

To be honest... I have always pretty much felt this, even back in the day..... Early, for too long, nothing to write home about.... he about loses me.... then it kicks in, more than makes up for it.......amazing.

No denying Frampton is a huge talent! I love these types of videos! The format I've seen mostly falls into 2 groups. People who usually listen to hip hop / rap / R&B or people who listen to classical music. I think it would be cool if someone could turn it around and expose people who listen to Rock, classical, ect. to examples of great hip hop / rap / R&B.

I have to say, the only eyes you are opening is your own, which is great and i give you credit. I'm a 60 yr old being entertained by reactions to my favourite music. I feel sorry for those stuck in 1 genre, rap. Who have Literally missed everything musical.

So happy this came up in my suggestions! Long before music videos, The Midnight Special was the only time we could see the artist we love, other than going to concerts. I lived in the Country so, no concerts for me. The Special was my concerts!

As a teenager in the 70’s being invited to a weekend party at someone’s house was the ultimate. I had just started in band as a drummer and it got around that I was cool so I was invited to one. I was 12! My younger sister listened to Shaun Cassidy, teen girls listened to Fleetwood Mac and Frampton. I remember a 14 year old Marsha Brady look alike girl named Claire who gave me my first great kiss when this song was on the turntable. Burned into my mind and makes me smile 47 years later. I still love Claire.

I saw him in concert in the mid 70’s, it was a great concert, especially playing this song. I don’t know if anyone did a talk box before him, but he was definitely the first one I heard use it. It was a great outdoor concert, at the Miami baseball stadium.

The song was really that long, Peter Frampton was huge back in the day, and this song was an anthem for my generation.

You need to remember that Midnight Special was before the internet, before MTV, this was the first time we got to see many of the top artists performing live!!! So many amazing performances.

I began listening to Peter Frampton in the early 1970s when he was with Humble Pie. In 1975 he had the biggest selling album of that time with Frampton Comes Alive. I was fortunate to see him in both 1975 and 1976 as he toured nearly three years enjoying the success of his album.

Good news you can get tickets to see Frampton live ......he is on tour now...... in Windsor Ontario this weekend March 16th 2024 and then throughout the USA. One of the best guitarists..... if not THE very best who has ever lived ... I saw him way back in 2011 in Denver. It was the highlight of my five years living in the USA. Don't miss this opportunity it may be your last.... this guy is in his seventies already and although he still going like the wind......now is the time to get tickets.... don't miss this guys he's really incredible
