Well it wasn't mainstream at least not like it was from the mid 80's to say early 2000's but the people who understood and continued the follow the culture knew where to find it. As long as there is at least a pulse the culture lives. 👍🙏😁✌️

That's exactly what I was saying lol. I love my Era but some kats from that era are still doing it and don't have the same push that they used to. I'm not a bully to this era because for at least the past 10 years I have had a chance to see some reall Lyricist from these young dudes, but just like always. They get overshadowed by the Industry fakes and you know... But Like my wife was saying, THE UNDERGROUND IS RISING BACK TO THE SURFACE, BlackStar just came back and it's about to be some ish with Coast Contra doin this. I think this is going to set some kats off to really start upping they're lyrical skills. Im definately going to keep these kats on radar.

They showed up on Tobe's song, and I never stopped listening. I'm old enough to have lived in NYC since the first rap song was released, and I tell you, these young people have saved hip hop. How did auto tune and mumble rap get here anyway? Much respect to those holding it down for past generations. They remind of me of Tribe, Naught by Nature and Lord of the Underground.

I love listening to you talk each time after they finish their verse, you really go in depth with your knowledge on hip hop and I respect that because you're completely right, everybody now is so focused on the beat when the focus should be on the words! There are quite a few real MCs of "this era"...we just need to support them...Oswin Benjamin, Anoyd, Tobe Nwigwe, Shawn Smith, Denzel Porter, Chris Rivers, 3D Natee, Russ, and many older that are still cutting edge like King Los, Locksmith, Royce...etc But I feel you...when I first came across these dudes and this particular freestyle I was floored by Ras...Cosmic Kev has some legendary Freestyles...there is a rapper Shawn Smith who is about the twins age now, but years ago he came on Cosmic Kev under the name Young Savage...he spit for like 12 mins...clean, punches, crafty as hell as a 17 year old...to see Shawn Smith now with all the introspection and calm at just 26 or so is wild...dope reaction/review.

@@MONQTV I was able to find one of the rappers he shouted out. He goes by the name, "Anoyd", and he is a phenomenal rapper. Extremely advanced vocabulary and flow patterns. Can definitely see why he got their attention. Still hoping to find the rest of them 🙏
