Fantastic tutorials, real quality work well explained, very helpful ! Thank you! One question about closed hats on non-dominant hand: you always tap them with the same finger. Is it OK to alternate middle finger and index to play these or is it better to stick to 1 finger? Another gear question: have you tried the Nektar Aura controller? Seems like it has extremely sensitive pads, fully configurable per pad (sic!). Your feeling about it would be interesting. :) Keep up good work!
Glad you enjoyed it! You can totally alternate your middle and index fingers on the hi-hats, however it's good to train your ability to play really fast hi-hats with just a single finger as well. In more advanced cases, I use my index finger for lots of rapid ghost notes on the snare Pad 2 while simultaneously using the middle finger for rapid hi-hats on Pad 3. So you want to develop the most speed and versatility possible. I haven't tried the Nektar Aura, but I might look into it at some point!
Hey dragon! Do you have any tips/ tutorials on playing a triplet back beat with one hand a straight 8th beat with the other? Just for coordination and independence.
This type of stuff is included in the Dragon Finger Drums Academy! In October we'll be releasing an entire category of lessons on Tuplets (including triplets) and how to play them in a variety of different ways. Our website is dragonfingerdrums.com if you're interested in checking it out!
Thank you so much Dragon! I want to begin Drumming to learn. What do you think, is NI Milro MK3 practice and easy to learning? Or is there any another’s? I’m afraid to lost my interest wenn the equipment too hard for me…
I would highly recommend the Maschine Mikro, it's very affordable and in my opinion it has the very best pads available, so the investment is definitely worth it.
@@DragonFingerDrums nice! I guess I'm looking for more of an understanding as to why thumbs wouldn't be used more for kicks. I don't have a drumming background but I do play piano so I'm used to using all five fingers. Your layout makes sense with regards to hand separation and dominance, etc., but as I'm trying to get into finger drumming it feels most natural to me to use thumbs for kicks. Curious if you want to share any more insights from you wealth of mastery and experience. Great stuff!
