In fact Kerala took the granda script which had varha letters(ka,kha,ga,gha or ca,cha,ja,jha) later after 12th century and transformed Tamil as Malayalam, not Tamil. Tamil does not have the varha letters and that is why Tamil has only 12 vowels and 18 consonants. Granda letters are used in Tamil to only write people names which has sha, ha, ja sound. This episode does not talk clearly about it, may be Hip Hop Tamila do not want upset Malayaless.

In 2004, UNESCO shortlisted 5 languages as classical languages of the world by 11 critirea. Tamil is the only language which scored 11/11 and stands 1st place in that list. Other respective languages are Arabic, Chinese, Sanskrit, Hebrew. From this we can infer that Tamil is the oldest language of the world.

Pallava grantha is used in these languages too.... Old Khmer, Old Malay, Burmese, Thai, Sri Lankan Sinhala, Lao, Mon, Balinese, etc read relationship between Pallavas and Cambodia

I think this video is slightly misleading us. pallava's were unable to write tamil with gupta brahmi. So,they decided to form a new script. They created the granda script (30% of gupta brahmi +70% tamil). They took varha letters(ka,kha,ga,gha or ca,cha,ja,jha) from gupta brahmi and remaining letters from vatteluthu(old tamil script). This granda was later transformed to malayalam. Because,malayalam has varha letters (ka,kha,ga,gha) but tamil doesn't. Tamil only has ka . This shows granda later transformed into malayalam
