He has been my number one inspiration for about 5 years now. He convinced me to get a 1962 reissue tele, and he taught me how to play the guitar the way I wanted to play it. I wouldn't be the guitarist I am today without his inspiration. I even met him once on the UK leg of the Bambi tour: dream come true, my heart melted.
As a guitar player of 15 years I just had to ask, what makes him world-class? This is my first time listening to this band I'll admit, but he sounds like a super basic Mark Knopfler. Not trying to hate on anything I thought the song was okay but I think you maybe need to check out some legit world-class playing.
@@ReturningGlory for the most part I agree, I wouldn't say he's on par with someone like nuno bettencourt or Guthrie Govan with the level of his playing, but if you listen to some of their earlier stuff you can see some really really cool riffs. I just fell in love with the way he moves his fingers around the board. He is just the guitarist that I resonate with the most. He has really great touch. I think it's also how well he serves each musical situation. He is really good at choosing appropriate voicings and phrasings. I highly advise that you take a look at some of their live performances and some of his solo music under the name brotherKenzie. I hope you come to love him as much as I do.
@@ReturningGlory being a good guitarist isn't always about being able to play at lightning speed or displaying difficult techniques in every song. It's also about having a good ear for melody and being able to come up with passages that compliment the song. In that regard, I would say that he is more than proficient as a guitarist.
@@michaelm4464 yeah I know that and agree, but again there are loads of examples who do it better. I'm not shit talking the guy only presenting that point. First person that comes to mind for the points you mentioned alone is Santana. I didn't want this to be a whole "this guy isn't good" thing because I don't think that. Just that theres people who, I think, do it levels better. Also John Mayer.
I do like this version and how we can hear the guitar a whole lot more. I prefer the original a bit more because of the production of the synth. Btw my favorite part of the song is the synth lol
