I love how Decarlos is always so into the music even when he’s not playing. Like him just groovin along & his amazement at Jakes vocals 👌🏻. Same Decarlos, same.
Jake Luppen is the RAWEST singer I know. His opera training means his vocal stamina KICKS ALL ASSES IN A 10 MILE RADIUS. Any HPC song is a good way to start the day.
this just became my all time favorite song. Jake's vocals? best. um wow those high note runs are beautiful Nathan's intro? perfect Zach's bass line on fucking point Whistler's snare hits and Decarlos trumpet bops exactly where they need to be in that little stop time thing? I've literally never heard anything like this
This is the best live performance I've ever seen from any band on RU-vid Nathan's intro is the most soothing thing ever Whistler's snare is so nice Whenever Nathan pulls out that guitar it's going to be a freaking great show
They have to be up there with the greatest bands of all time. I mean as far as being musicians, performers, and just artists overall they are absolutely incredible
for some reason i've never really gotten into the studio version of this..but this performance changes everything! Everything about it is so raw and beautiful. Love when they do lil twists on things.....so much love
I'm in such amazement and awe of this band. I can't even put it into words. They just flow so well together and the vocals are so incredible. I love these guys. They play with their souls and you can feel it.
I appreciate this group so much, you guys create such an energy as individuals that then creates a synergy of connection through your art. Beautiful music, Beautiful vocals, Beautiful group. I wish you all the best throughout your lives. Much love, hope to see you all one day in concert.
==Lyrics== Our stucco arms are forever tied loose Your velvet touch sends me back to the moon Daddy’s coming home but mammas looking guilty Brothers in the basement ’til he's thirty Wolf child’s heavy with the weight of the world Storing all his love in an adolescent girl There's sunlight dripping off the apricot tree Lost to the night tide growing in me Singing to the drunks like they're mom and dad All we ever knew is what we didn't have Never really knew if I did something wrong All I ever heard was "it wasn't my fault" But what good is truth if you don't understand Nothing but a pair of calloused hands? There's sunlight dripping off the apricot tree Lost to the night tide growing in me I’ve been saying to ya I’ve been saying to ya I’ve been saying to ya I’ve been… Singing to the drunks like our momma did All we ever knew is what we didn't have I’ve been saying to ya I’ve been saying to ya I’ve been saying to ya I’ve been saying to ya There's sunlight dripping off the apricot tree Lost to the night tide growing in me I’ve been saying to ya I’ve been saying to ya I’ve been saying to ya I’ve been saying to ya There's sunlight dripping off the apricot tree Lost to the night tide growing in me I’ve been saying to ya I’ve been saying to ya I’ve been saying to ya I’ve been saying to ya Singing to the drunks like our momma did All we ever knew is what we didn't have I’ve been saying to ya I’ve been saying to ya I’ve been saying to ya I’ve been saying to ya
1:50 ME TOO PAL ME TOO!!!!!!! ahhhh this is so amazing i cant explain all my feelings but wow. my favourite band with my favourite genre of music. they can't make a bad song.
Sometimes I wish I was in this band. But, knowing that that’s never gonna happen, I can only hope that one day my band will tour or play a festival with them! Who knows... I’ll keep dreaming.
I like this version more. A little more raw, Nathan's intro, DeCarlo and Jake's different style of singing here. All versions are beautiful but this is more my thing.
For whatever reason, artists save their best versions of songs for Paste Magazine performances. I can say that for at least 4-5 bands i’ve seen perform on here lol.
Found them this year and I can say they were one of my favorite music producers. What a perfect combination in my playlist. Misterwives, Hippo Campus, Maroon 5, Lenka Kripac and Electronic Dance Musics I love you guys
