As a hospital-based Speech Therapist I'm impressed at how Xenia handled the sessions with the patients even though it was her first time and only having undergone a day's training! For most people it would have been pretty daunting but she handled it professionally. Thanks TheSmartLocal for raising more awareness of our profession and for making such entertaining videos!

Teared while watching this. Honestly didn't know our day to day reading and talking would be so difficult for others. And huge respect for those patients trying so hard to get back what they lost.

Honestly, as a student studying occupational therapy now, Xenia would be an amazing therapist if she weren't a host at TSL!! She's so patient and did so well with all the prompting and most importantly, the rapport building with all the patients! :")

Y'all doing a good job bringing awareness to such matters. I hope you can look into being a Special Education Teacher and make the public more aware of children with special needs too (:

Not sure if its a good idea because children themselves are not of consenting age .. But then again since sg's psych scene isnt regulated, raising the awareness may help to increase the speed to a more regulated psych scene

this is just amazing! just had a 3-hour interprofessional session with the speech and language therapy students at uni already widened my knowledge about the roles of SLT and how the roles of dietitians and SLTs can overlap - sometimes (am a dietetic student hehe). Now being able to see how things are done in-person is just *claps hand Love it xx

Great episode! My favourite series. Hope to see Social Worker for a day soon too! During the Covid period, social workers are also behind the scenes heroes, whether in the medical field or in the community, supporting families and individuals who are struggling through this period of time. They are so underrated but they do so much for the people. Hope to raise awareness for social workers, to let people know that they are not volunteers or just "knocking on doors".

Just saw a video on Soon Huat Bak Kut Teh, where they primarily hire ex-convicts. However, the video was rather short and I was interested in knowing more about them. Could I trouble you to consider perhaps having a hired or fired episode at their premises, and sharing more of their personal stories. Thank you, and loved this video as well!

Wah,Xenia really like quite good with "caring for ppl" stuff leh. But idk how it will pan out if go long term. Professionalism includes boundaries leh. She so enthu and chill, easy let patients think they can be friends. Especially Not wise if in mental health sector where broken vulnerable ppl r alr looking for connections subconsciously.
@jolenifywithluv
@jolenifywithluv 3 года назад
As someone aspiring to be in the healthcare sector, i find her ability to rapport build with patients amazing. That in itself can be such a difficult skill to master but it comes so naturally for her! Of course the knowledge of being able to draw the appropriate boundaries to maintain a good therapeutic relationship is important, but having that innate people-oriented ability is an asset for this line of profession

I used to go to speech therapy when I was a little kid! I didn’t go to a hospital though, I had a lady come to my house to do it. I can’t really remember it because I was so young. I actually moved countries before I finished and I never started it again so I still got some speech problems lol. I can’t pronounce the ‘th’ sound (I pronounce it like ‘f’) and I can’t pronounce ‘ball’ or ‘hall” (I pronounce it like ‘bowl’ and ‘hole’). It was awkward when I went to Japan and my host family asked me to teach my host sister how to pronounce ‘th’ so I had to fumble through trying to teach her when I can’t even do it myself lol. To be fair, my dad can’t pronounce the ‘th’ sound either so it’s fine.
