The trio albums Hiromi Uehara has done with Anthony Jackson and Simon Phillips are very good, but my favorite album is "Duet", with Chick Corea-twin concert grands, inspired by Corea's performances with Herbie Hancock. "Duet" was recorded over three days at Blue Note Tokyo Sept. 2007. They played Budokan the following April, and it was sublime.

Thanks David -- I expected this to be a fun one and didn't disappoint - Hiromi is ultra-talented and obviously pulls in great musicians to work with her. On that note, I know you've referenced Chick Corea numerous times on the channel and he's played with Hiromi so probably one to look forward to in the future...

The bassist from The Trio Project is Anthony Jackson (Paul Simon, The O'Jays, Steely Dan, Chick Corea), and also, I PICKED UP ON "A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS" A SECOND AND A HALF BEFORE YOU DID and I am so proud of that. 😂

Hiromi is an absolute virtuoso. I've seen her a couple of times live. She always looks like she's having the time of her life when she's playing. I'm sure if I could play like this, I would be happy too..

Hiromi studied at the Berklee College of Music at the same time when Psy ("Gangnam Style") studied there. Who would have thought that ... :-)

Hell yeah Hiromi! I love her feel and spirit. She does some cool stuff with the keyboard too. Definitely one of my favorite modern players.

The bassist is Anthony Jackson, if I remember correctly he is credited for the development of the modern 6 string bass. It's also because of him that six string basses are tuned to BEADGC, he came up with that lol It would've been good if you watched the rest it had an amazing drum solo from Steve Smith

Thank you Homegnome, I recently was wondering if Hiromi would be a good fit for David with his love for jazz. This was all I could have been hoping for. David, as far as this trio goes, the bass player is Anthony Jackson and the drummer is Simon Phillips. They did 4 albums together as this trio and played together live as well as you can see. I don't know her for that long, but everything I have seen by Hiromi is extremely entertaining to watch because how animated she is and I am always amazed by the skill that is needed to play the stuff she does.

The time might have flown by but it’s great that it didn’t drag like Lars Ulrich’s Meter did like on last nights reaction you did 😅💀😅😅. However, This definitely is not my type of music but there’s no denying the awesome musicianship that these guys performed here and once again another great reaction on the show🤘

Oh additional - Anthony Jackson was apparently involved with the design of the first 6-string basses, so extra reason for you to be a fan! :)

Amazing chops and interesting style. I’ve mentioned them a long time ago but this is definitely fitting this time as they’ve openly said they were influenced by her. Would love if you check out Chon. Shred guitar oriented band. But very jazzy because of this influence. They are no longer active but will always be one of those special bands to me 😊

12:57 Sorry buddy. But your assessment is way off in this case. That’s the great Anthony Jackson on bass. He looks familiar because he’s played with almost everybody. He couldn’t play a wrong note even if he duct-tapped all of his fingers together . Master Jackson is one of the”elite” of the elite when it comes to bass playing. Unfortunately he is not a household name due to the few projects done under his own name (but every household will recognize his playing on the projects of MANY major artists). He is a first call studio musician who is known for his ability to perform “first takes” flawlessly. Lena Horne, Buddy Rich, Lionel Hampton, Paul Simon, Chaka Khan, The O’Jays, Madonna, Jimmy Buffet, Diana Ross, and George Benson represent a very small sampling of the artists that Master Jackson has played with both live and in-studio. Additionally., he is not just another bass player who picked up a six string because it was the latest trend. Because he masterfully plays nearly every genre of music, the four stringed “P” and “J” basses were insufficient for his artistic vision. So he drew out a six string idea on a piece of paper in the early 1970s and worked with a luthier to make THE WORLD’S FIRST SIX STRING ELECTRIC BASS GUITAR. And many of those techniques that you are so frequently pointing out are techniques that Master Jackson invented to be able to play within any musical setting from straight ahead jazz to hard rock. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IS-xDsic84Q.htmlsi=mB2cUrnKU3f0KAss

That linked video is interesting. Wonder how he feels about computers as a tool for making music today, or even as an instrument. Now that its more understood how it has evolved by the input from people like himself. In that video he kinda separated himself from the evolution of the tool. Them and me. If he created the electric six-string base. He would understand that a computer is just another instrument.
