Correction - of the total testosterone circulating in the adult female blood circulation, 25% comes directly from the adrenal glands, 25% comes from the ovary and remaining 50% comes from peripheral conversion (in the adipose tissue) of androstenedione to testosterone.

I've heard that hair growing on the chin is ALWAYS hormonal, so I was wondering: if a female has hair growth on the chin (more than just 1 or 2 .. about 10 to 20), is it safe to say PCOS is the cause? Also, there seems to be a hereditary link - my mother was recently told by her Dr that her adrenal glans were critically low.. might that suggest some relevance to my symptoms? Thanks!
