The Hirth or Rosette joint is now and then popping up on FB and Reddit. Here is my take on a geometric workflow. The workflow should work in other parametric CAD like Onshape, Solidworks etc.
I learned a lot from this, that i did not understand at first. Circles can be use to project lines to other planes (sketches). The angle of the tool path is angled down from the center so that there is no interference from the teeth as they approach the center.
Thanks for this🙂. I just tried this by doing a loft from a triangle profile in to the center but it would need careful consideration of the size of the central hole as it sometimes leaves material close to the centre. To save steps I did find an optimised circular pattern works for the final chamfer 🙂 (identical and adjust fail though).
