Sri Lanka has never produced a single politician of that kind. One can argue Bandaranayake was such a person, but he was brutally assassinated a very long time ago. That says something about what happens to a person of higher integrity and any patriotic plan. You won't find a principled, wise, humble and a driven visionary person as the leader because such person must come within the existing society. The existing society is culturally aimless and lost. It will need lot of luck

Well said Sunil , what you said was the truth which majority of this country doesn’t accept it, and that’s why our country is like this . We are a failed nation not because of the politicians it’s because of people of our country. One reason is we srilanken doesn’t respect each other. we talk with pride about our so-called history and we are living with it where the future is in darkness.
Sunil knows how to articulate his message of frustration about the current situation of Sri Lanka. It has been over 12 years since the end of the long running miserable civil war. Yet, the poverty, injustice, stealing public resources and debt crisis in Sri Lanka has been increasing exponentially because of the poor governance. The real reason is because all that democracy has done to the country is producing more and more crooks as politicians. Rakapakse dynasty has been great with ending the civil war, but hopeless at developing the country for everybody, not just for the politically elite. Post Rajapakse and pre Rajapakse politicians were crooked at war as well as economical development. It appears that the Rajapakse's are only good at governing and leading the country during crisis situations. Once the crisis situation is over, they tend to be as crooked as any other thieving politicians by keeping & stealing resources among few of their friends and family, while not having any long term or short term plans to develop the country to become independent of IMF or Chinese or other monetary grants. It appears the only thing Sri Lankan politicians are capable of is stealing public resources and the Rajapakse family is no exception? You can argue that stealing public resources like money is ok if they use that power to bring good governance and economical prosperity to the country. But, that doesn't seem to be happening. Degeneration that started in 1977 is continuing unabated. One can even wonder whether the ending of the civil war has put the process of cultural and economic degeneration on roids.
Sunil Ayye as a you are saying this not a pin ketha untill these politicience are living in the country. Since 1948 samething is happening. But naturaly we have got the pin ketha compairing with other countries are spoiling our bladdy politicience. Then we have to change these politicience as soon as posible not a country and brining a sutable person for this post.
