There's always one thing that amazes me about these stories. The FL and her brother share the same surname with each other and the group, and yet no one ever realises the connection. I have no idea if that makes sense in Chinese but in English, it's ridiculous.
A lot of Chinese surnames are extremely common. Tons of people with the same surnames everywhere, so it's not uncommon for multiple people with the same surname to work together and not be related. It's kind of like if you had two people working at an English or American corporation, both of whom were surnamed Smith, but weren't actually related to each other. (In my genealogical lines, I have 4 different Smith families, 3 White families, and a couple of others that have only two or so different families with the same surnames, none of which are related to each other.)
