My aunt hangs stockings every December with all her nieces and nephews names. One year we went to her home and she showed my boyfriend his own stocking hanging with the rest.. he got emotional and gave her the biggest hug.
Honestly this means so much especially to those without families or those coming from relationships where they weren’t respected. My personal experience (even though I know no one asked I just wanna share to further explain what I mean): My ex boyfriend (father to my first child, I am currently pregnant with my second but I’ll get into that later) was very abusive and manipulative. I was 14 and he was 18 when we first got together. He knocked me up a month before my 15th birthday and soon after that he was cheating on me and would physically hurt me. He would tell his friends and family that I was the one in the wrong so whatever he did to me was justified. (He’d tell them I was talking to other guys to make me out to be the one cheating or he would claim that I would hit him for no reason-I admit there are a few times where I felt I had to get physical but that was only to protect myself as I have PTSD and he was very violent and aggressive and it was never me just going out of my way to hurt him cus I truly loved him, he was my everything) Anyways, after I had our daughter the abuse got worse and we were together for 4-5 years (up until I was 18 and he was in his early 20s) every year we would spend Christmas with his aunt and the rest of his big family and they never included me in the gift giving part. Nor would they get my daughter anything. But of course they would go all out on spoiling him with presents and even got him a drone (which he never used btw) that was hundreds of dollars before. They gave me a gift one time but that’s because my ex’s female cousin didn’t want a pair of leggings she got and it was a throw away gift so they were like “just give them to her then”. I left him last year and got with my current boyfriend, who I’ve known since middle school. I met his family about 6-7 months after we were official and they were very very kind to me. His sister even let me have a swimsuit just so I could be included in the summer activities and he swam around in the pool with my daughter. He treats my daughter as if she is his daughter and loves her about the same as I do. (Her bio father doesn’t have any part in her life and that is his choice-I grew tired of chasing him and even if I did chase him to be apart of her life I would only further trigger myself as he traumatized me THAT much) I spent thanksgiving with them as well and soon after that I found out I was pregnant with his baby. Then come Christmas and he asked me if I wanted anything. I told him I’d be happy with anything but if he was really thinking about it then I guess some shower supplies would be nice. We get to their house on Christmas and I really wasn’t expecting much because of my history with my ex. I was grateful to be included at all and I was ESPECIALLY grateful since I already knew they would be purchasing gifts for my daughter, even though she is not their blood. I watched as my daughter opened present next to my bf’s niece and nephew and then his mother passed me a gift and told me it was mine. I was literally so shocked and happy. I wanted to cry but I didn’t wanna make it awkward so I just thanked them repeatedly. Then she passed me another, and another, and another. I kid y’all not I was so fucking happy… And it was shower products too! Perfumes, lotions, shampoo and conditioner, and I even got a blanket from them. His mother took the time to learn things about me, and got me things she thought I would like and that was the cherry on top. At the end when we went home and put the gifts away, his mom left me a message that said “Welcome to the family. I love you.” Probably one of the best days in my entire fucking life. It’s only been a year since we’ve been official but I can’t wait to share his last name and truly become apart of their family. ❤

I remember when my fiance and I spent Christmas with my family and he saw they had a stocking with this name on it hung by the fireplace next to the rest of the family's. He teared up. He hasn't seen his family in over 10 years because of the Navy. Knowing he was part of the family made him feel very appreciated. We love him so much ❤️
@@BellaBarnes616 he's pretty awesome. He makes me feel very appreciated and loved and my family absolutely loves that about him. They bought him more Christmas present this year than me. I wasn't upset. I was very happy for him because it was also a gift for me to know that my family thought about him and knew EXACTLY what to buy him 🤣🥰

Even tho some people actually have parents and siblings they never really know what being a family is and when strangers welcome you and show you it means the world.
I had a Dad but I never had a family or felt loved and I spent my teens and young adult years adopting middle aged women as my mom and some of them took massive advantage. One of them told me she loved me like her own daughter but the whole time plotted to steal my baby and succeeded. 6 years later I fell in love and had 3 more kids and I do everything in my power to make them feel loved and cared for and that they can always come to me. I know they will not seek out love from abusive people like I did because they have me. All kids really need is one person who shows they give a shit, just one.

my ex's family was so accepting of me. their son, my ex, was only 17. i was 16, and they had me over for dinner and family hangouts only with family and family significant others. one thing that hurt the most when we separated was losing that bond with his family :] i thank them for everything.

I was in a relationship for 7 years when I got pregnant. Only when his family found out I was pregnant they told me " you are now a part of this family ". I was kinda taken back from that because I thought I always was.

My step dad and I never really could tolerate each other until I was around 17. When I was about 14, my step dad’s dad told me “feel free to call me grandpa, you’re family now.” Didn’t appreciate it at the time and thought nothing of it. Later in the week I went to my mom about a fight I was having with my step dad. I said he isn’t really part of the family, and that he shouldn’t get to push me around, and all that other garbage. She told me “his dad told you you’re in the family Yunno, he doesn’t do that for just anyone.” Hit me a little bit at the time, enough to calm me down anyway. Now I think back on it regularly, thanks grandpa, I love you.
Being thought of and knowing someone has shared their time to do something for you is the best gift you can receive. This girl knows exactly what the sentiment means and visably overwhelmed by the kindness and acceptance.
I hope and wish that more families are like this. I know of so many girlfriends and female SOs struggle with getting along with their SOs family. It’s so tough
We did all this and more to make my sons GF feel part of the family and she never once said thank you and has now stopped visiting. Love when it works out and like this beautiful lady actually appreciates it.
I'm sorry your loving gesture went unrecognised, I hope your son finds a woman who can appreciate such acceptance and family bonds. I'd be bawling my eyes out if a partner's family did this for me, I only have one close family member who means everything to me, but I do wish I had a closer knit family. Having a loving and close family is so important for self esteem and self worth growing up and teaches you a lot and its value goes unnoticed sometimes sadly. @@ltamha thank you very much. My husband and I have talked about it many times. We left the door open for her and the gestures are from the heart so no thank you is needed. We hope she grows up a little and treats our son right. We hope they are happy in the end and we will keep giving because it is our family thing we do.
This is sweet...my in-laws do this for girlfriends of their sons (before their eldest son and I married, mine was denim and then they just started having them made..) and I was very touched they did that for me. My own family never made me feel that welcome
I had a friend who told me she’d never had a stocking. So I went out and bought her one, filled it with little candies and toys that’s you’d get as a kid. She cried! It was like $15 but it meant the world to her! Moments like these are truly special so take the chance if you have it
I got to have this same experience once and it was a very special and emotional moment in deed. It was the grandmother to my children and my ex MIL and God rest her soul in heaven now. We remained friends :) my kids loved her!
We invited a Turkish friend to us for Christmas and he was also totally surprised and happy that under the Christmas tree there was also a gift for him 🤗
Yes, my son's GF was so shocked that we'd gotten her a gift even though they'd only been together for a few months. You never know how a small gesture can make a person's day❤
I felt the same way when my partners parents told me how they kept trying for a daughter and didn't get one but it doesn't matter now because they got me. It was the sweetest thing ever. I've gotten comments like, "Wow, so this is what it's like to have a daughter..." They seem to love it. I've felt extremely flattered over it ever since and do my best to foster that ongoing positive relationship with them.
