His Night Out Sparked Killer Conspiracies: The Strange Case of Riley Strain [True Crime Documentary]

In March 2024, Riley Strain was on a pub crawl with friends on Broadway in Nashville. The 22 year-old left his last bar of the night at just past 9:30 PM. He seemed to vanish only minutes later.
Even with cameras retracing his steps through the city, there were gaps in his movements. Witnesses coming forward that could not always be trusted and clues being uncovered that raised more questions than answers. Amateur sleuths online began helping and hurting the investigation.

I'm seeing a ton of "brother's shoud've" comments on this thread. It's very sad that Riley passed. But we don't know what happened that night. Maybe Riley wanted to leave early and they asked if he was okay to walk home, and he said he was. We don't know. It's important to drink responsibly and have a safe exit planned in advance. I don't think blaming his fraternity - unless you were there - is helpful at this point.

I GET that they're trained to get the information and handle calls a certain way, but I've also heard PLENTY of them handle calls *while* also being compassionate/sympathetic to the caller as the cops are on the way. If anyone is ever out with a group of friends, don’t EVER let 1 person in your group go on their own , male or female. Going home a bit early is nothing compared to someone losing their life! I really hope bar security will also take notice of this trend. I realize they are not babysitting and some people are extremely difficult to deal with when intoxicated but throwing people out alone is just not safe.

It's crazy because used to nobody cared if cowboys slept on the trail or made a camp outside of the town. When people didn't have money for a house or rent they would sometimes build a something like a shanty town with some tin and whatever else they could come up with. So now with inflation we're just about back to those poverty wages for many people yet we, as a society, look down on people without shelter. People have always had options to at least build their own shelter such as teepees, wigwams, yurts, or mud-homes but now you're either on government or privately owned land or there's not enough water, food, and resources to really survive. Sorry for that tangent especially if it doesn't make sense. I'm high and this idea has been bothering me for a while. @@RockingChairRebel You have made a blatant distortion of that verse, trying to read into it the idea of a divinely appointed time to die. You only have to read the verse in context to understand the true meaning of the verse which compares the death of a man/human only having to die once in a lifetime with Christ only having to sacrificially die once in order to bear the sins and judgement of the many persons throughout Time. The verse 27 which you cited ends in a comma, and then continues on to finish its thought in Verse 28. As with most things, CONTEXT is very important to arrive at the Truth.

God is in total control of the universe and everything in it, and He works ALL things according to the counsel of His will. Not really. A lot of drinks in those "celebrity" bars taste off because they use their own brands of liquor in a lot of the signature drinks. And those alcohols often have odd tastes. The fact that she said he told her it kind of tasted like BBQ made me instantly think he'd gotten some "signature" drink where the whisky was, in fact, infused with some smoky or spicy flavor. In many of those bars, if you want your old standbys, you should specify not just the drink but the alcohol that you want in it. Also, no one in the history of being drugged ever said later that their drink tasted of BBQ. And predators don't go after 6'4 guys who are visibly out partying with a large group of other guys. That would be stupid and a waste of drugs and time. They'd do what? Follow him around for hours just hoping that he got away from the 20 or so other guys for a bit? Does that sound at all realistic to you? Or would they go after the hundreds of visibly more vulnerable, weaker looking people who were already alone and probably already very intoxicated. The "drugged by a random stranger while being huge and out with his whole fraternity" is the most ridiculous theory currently out there. I mean, if common sense is involved.

By the time he got them off, with the cold water already sapping his energy, he simply wasn't able to pull himself out of the river. And I love how it was pointed out his wallet was missing, like duh, his pants were missing. He probably had to take a piss so he went down to the water. Those frat “ brothers” sure let him down. Someone couldn’t take the time to walk him back to the hotel? I hope the bill goes through for bars to get rides for these kids. Take some responsibility! Bad idea for bars to be located by rivers. We have a college and a street full of bars set right by the river and we have had some drownings as well.

@ImaRandomFemaleYou wrote a whole chapter but it doesn't change the FACT that the same attention and effort IS NOT given to every missing person.

Heartbreaking story. My condolences to Riley's family and girlfriend. That fraternity should be disbanded.

@@KatherineLaura6564there's a different level of responsibility, when one is drunk and possibly drugged. His fellow frat rats should know when a friend is too intoxicated to manage full responsibility for their lives, and they should know, given their own experiences with intoxication, that their friend would need watching over. It's the unwritten rule of *drunk friends*.

@@KatherineLaura6564I sure hope any friends of yours or even just people you know of, know that if they ever find themselves in a situation that is beyond their control when you’re around shouldn’t count on you to help them out or even give a sh*t about what happens to them….just let them learn the hard way, right!WOW!!

What’s a fraternity good for, if not looking out for each other?? What happened to “all for one, and one for all?? If you can’t count on your friends, (and some of these guys were childhood friends of Riley’s) who can you count on?? Where I come from the word ‘friend’ means something!! And it definitely means you look out for each other. The least they could have done is call him a cab. Truly pathetic. And those friends’ will forever have his death on their conscience.

Something that's bugging me is when the mother cries on TV she is not crying. It seems very disingenuous or forced. I'm not saying I'm suspicious of her but it bothers me when I see people pretending to cry 🤘🏻🇬🇧

That is a very judgemental statement. Do you know that some prescriptions and medical conditions make it so people don’t produce tears? You jumped to conclusions and showed no empathy with this comment.

@@MaggieMaeMatt say what you will. This is the comment section and you are going to see things you don't agree with. Are you going to tell EVERYONE that says something you don't agree with that they are being judgemental? If so you'll get tired very quickly. You won't change my outlook. I'm 50 years old and speak freely. I don't hold back from saying something because someone else may not agree with it. That's the ways of the new generation and I won't refrain from speaking my mind 🤘🏻🇬🇧

As a Boston resident this happens almost yearly. Young man goes missing and ends up in the water. The one who got away at the Celtics game I swear they have the guy on camera in the background.
