John first recorded this in 1980. This performance was in 1989. This was a Beatles song, from the 1960s. When John Lennon, who wrote the song, heard John Farnham's version he said that Farnham had redefined the song and it now belonged to Farnham.
Any reactions for John Farnham, Cold Chisel, Jimmy Barnes should be live as their performances are a show in themselves. John is known as The Voice. He can sing any genre from pop to opera. You're The Voice, It’s A Long Way To The Top, When The war Is Over, Black Dog (audio only he was doing a warm up/mic check). Duet with Jimmy Barnes When Something Is Wrong With My Baby, Olivia Newton-John, Anthony Warlow.
He is called the Voice in Australia and he is loved. John is humble and kind with a gift you have only just started to discover. He had 5 consecutive decades of number 1 albums. They have found he sings 13 genre’s naturally so far. Thank you.
A shout out to, for those who remember, Don Lane, who championed John Farnham when his career was in the doldrums in the late 70's / early 80's. He helped turn it around for Mr Farnham. I have a recollection that John sang Help on his show during this period. RIP Don.
Yep that says it all. His Voice is music itself. Thats why he is known as "THE VOICE" in Australia ...❤ Checck out his most famous song called You’re The Voice from this same concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra
Nice reaction. You hit the nail right on the head - his voice is music itself. That's why he's known as The Voice here in Australia. He loves us and we adore him ❤
It's definitely the saxophone and this was one of his oncore that concert went 2/and half hour in that same concert you should watch its a long way to the top if you want rock and roll that's song will blow your mind
Thank you , great reaction, you listened and reacted to what you heard and saw, (some reactors just nod their head and say 'oh nice' - whether about John or whoever ) anyway thank you, If you would like to hear some more of John there is much to choose from, he as been singing for over 50 years ( but ALWAYS do live if possible) - from 1967 Johnny Farnham and Zoot- Half Heaven half Heartache (Audio only), 1979- Bridge over Troubled Water, You're the Voice with MSO, and You Don't Know Like I Know LIVE 2000..
Thank you so much for the kind words, I love music and so when I hear one I appreciate the artist and his gift, John is definitely one of a kind. I will definitely be checking out more from him. Thanks for all the recommendations. 🙏
Thank you for your great Reaction and appreciatin of our phenomenal Aussie Legend, John Farnham! Please watch many more of his awesome repetiore of hit songs. Also you must watch his Documentary movie called: 'John Farnham- Finding The Voice'. xo
Note the mic placement. Not shoved down his throat. And no auto tune. Its all talent. We love John in Australia. No mobile phones taking photos to distract the audience. The audience is fully engaged with him.
This whole concert with John and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra was amazing! ❤ This song was an encore at the end of a full on concert and John still had fuel in the tank to push his vocals to the limit. Almost 34 years later it still brings goosebumps. ❤
This was the encore at the end of a full-on two hour concert - at the end of a series of Melbourne concerts. There are legends - and then there's John Farnham. Australia was very spoiled that he chose to stay with us rather than conquer the world
John & his fans always had that connection.......they were totally in harmony with each other. The love & respect at a concert most certainly worked both ways.
Thanyou dear Shockwave, from Australia. Great reaction, you got everything right about John ! ♥ Help is a Beatles song, check their original version for a totally different arrangement.
I remember you reacting to him a long time ago on another channel, but your tech might have improved since then? Lovely to see you back and us Farnsey lovers will no doubt support your new channel too :)
Yea, I did but had faced some challenges so I had to start all over on a new channel. It’s nice to have you here supporting me I really appreciate, more reactions definitely coming. 🙏☺️
Enjoyed the reaction and your enjoyment of it. You can't listen to John Farnham without listening to Jimmy Barnes. John and Jimmy are the top 2 singers from Australia. Could you check out Stone Cold by Jimmy Barnes featuring Joe Bonamassa. Jimmy's voice is going to blow you away. Enjoy.
Great reaction. You should check out Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham’s song “when something is wrong with my baby”. Another classic, full of soul. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it 🎸🎶
He definetly one of the best male singers of all time and master of every music genre ❤ I think the last and final time he performed this song was together with the Sidney symhony orcestra back in 2006 he was about 56yo at the time. That consert is one of the best ive ever heard in my life so far. He sings so many diferent genre of music to perfektion. If you have some time over just listen and enjoy ❤❤❤❤
John's arrangement & version of this song is so emotional & passionate . just amazing... its almost hard to believe that the Original by the Beatles, is actually the same song ! : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CTsB-llTzyc.htmlsi=fLJQ7vTQIe4wgq6d
This concert was advertised as John and his Big Band in typical Aussie understatement, it's a 100+ piece orchestra for crying out loud. lol This song is one of the last songs that he would sing at the end of the night after he had already sung his heart out for nearly 3 hours. Some have pointed out that this particular recording of the concert was closer to 2 hours of actual singing during the TV special, but it was also on the 4th or 5th night that he had sung like this. Either way, it was one of multiple nights that he did this on January 4-10, 1989, so his voice is still worthy of the accolades. Not many other singers can belt like that for even 2 or 3 nights without a rest. And besides picking at the exact details or this exact performance, Farnsey also has a way of getting deep into the emotions of your soul. A couple of songs worth checking have been mentioned below, plus these are worth a look also. The reason you haven't heard of him is because the US music industry is a closed little club. When John Farnham went to the US they didn't know which genre to put him in so his US promotions manager got him a couple of gigs in a little jazz club, where the MC introduced him as Jack Phantom. Couldn't even be bothered getting his name correct, so being a bit disheartened he wandered home to concentrate on his loyal fan base. The experience did give him inspiration to write a couple of good songs about missing his family, like this one. -Burn For You.. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4PPvOhPspEA.html -Angels.. Notice how he holds the mike below his chest, both mikes are a metre away, which he does all the time to not drown out the other singers. JF with Lisa Edwards, a top singer in her own right, and one of John's back up singers for 20+ years. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5_2NJRIdBO8.html -Amazing Grace.. To show the calibre of his other back up Singers, showing you have to be good in your own right, just like Lisa. This is Vanetta Fields and Lindsey Field. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_x6N94OEkZQ.html -Please Don't Ask Me.. This one with Olivia Newton John, who we have recently lost. John has also had major cancer surgery including removal of part of his jaw and we may not hear him sing again. So let's enjoy this one as well.. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2uV_tZODfK8.html -When Something Is Wrong With My Baby.... And even when he is singing with one of the most powerful voices on the planet, Jimmy Barnes, he still put the mike away from his face and closer to Jonny Diesel on guitar. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AU_bCchDWF4.html Or this version. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RAlFHSPLHpo.html -When The War Is Over… Possibly one of his greatest vocals. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lfWrXc5eN8g.html -Or is the greatest. Gethsemane.. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k5woMZtClhI.html -How about a mike test. He has the power and ability to distort microphones, amps, and get speaker stacks jumping. So this sort of setting up the venue test is a must. Lol Black Dog. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F2Yi6TVi-sU.html Besides having the best voice ever, JF can adjust his tone, pitch, volume, to match the person he is singing with to either match them or sing just under them depending on who's the head line act, he will even back himself down when he is the head line to give others their moment to shine, and if my ears were sensitive enough, I wouldn't be surprised if he could vary his vibrato, timbre and all of those other things that voices can do so he could accentuate the other singers.
There’s so MUCH to this humble, funny, gifted & generous human. He has quite the comedian in him too. He’s very playful, never takes himself seriously, has a very quick wit & very able to laugh at himself. He is the GOAT. His following is LEGENDARY from the 1960’s right through to 2024. He never EVER fails to deliver. He’s able to cross over 13 different musical genres! You simply HAVE to do a deep dive on John & the many duets, musical’s & even opera. Thank you for your reaction. I’ve lost count of the many reactions to this, gotta say I enjoyed yours very much. ♥️
