In this video we will show how to use a multimeter to test voltages on the power supply board, to help determine if the no backlights on this TV is being caused by the power supply or a bad LED or multiple bad LEDs.
In this video we will show three different scenarios and what the troubleshooting steps should be and the recommended solution to fix the problem, based on the troubleshooting.
We will show troubleshooting steps on a LIVE TV. In these troubleshooting steps, we will use a multimeter to check for certain voltages. In order to continue troubleshooting, be sure you have the proper training, experience, skills and equipment necessary to use a multimeter to check voltages in the TV.
Try all repairs and troubleshooting at your own risk as this can be very dangerous.
The power supply connection here, runs from the power supply to the LEDs. There is only one test point on this power supply, as there is only one connection. Some power supplies will have multiple test points.
Before testing, you will want to plug in the TV and power it on. Then place the red probe in the side with the red wire, and the black probe in the side with the white wire.
In the first test, I get a reading of 205 volts. This shows that the power supply and the LEDs are functioning properly and there is no problem.
In the second test, I get a reading of around zero volts. This shows that there is most likely a problem with the power supply, but we can continue testing, to be sure.
Next, I will turn off the TV and unplug it from the wall. Then disconnect the cable at the connection and retest with the TV plugged in and powered on. In the image on the screen, we are showing how to test this connection, without it plugged in.
When retesting without the plug, if you get zero volts, then it is recommended to replace the power supply. If you get a reading other than zero volts, it is recommended to replace the LEDs.
We will test the connection for a third time. In the third test, I get a reading of 300 volts. This shows that there is most likely a problem with the LEDs, but we will continue testing to be sure.
Once again, turn off the TV and unplug it. Disconnect the cable at the connection and retest with the TV plugged in and powered on.
If you still get a reading of around 300 volts, that means the problem is with the LEDs and it is recommended to replace them.
If you get a reading at zero volts, then it is recommended to replace the power supply.

I have a 43inch Hisense that's neither zero nor stable voltage. Its a combo main+PSU on a 43 inch hisense 4k LED backlit 2020 model (mfg and sale in 2020). I believe the model to be 43H6 but can't confirm ATM. I recorded a video. Both on DC and AC modes on the multimeter with 600V range shows voltages of 440ish and then steady decline followed by a spike to 440 and repeat. Red status LED is on at power on, turns off for a few seconds, then comes back and does two deliberate blinks to indicate PSU fail then repeats the cycle. Tested the TL BLK-04NT 2023 transformer and get similar behavior at lower voltages. HV pins 1,2,3 are short together, 4 and 5 are short too, then on LV side 1 and 6 are short and 3 and 4 short. 2 and 5 are floating. I recorded a video of the driver cable test as in this video. Diodes obviously fine. Caps aren't blown. Any thoughts? Heres the video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SqkgQ05znhM.html

Same thing mines doing. Ever figure it out? Starts at like 300, goes down to 90, then spikes back to 300

It could also happen (took me a month to find out), that you change all led strips and still get a flash and a turn off. But watching carefully, it was only half of the strips flashing.. there was a broken connector in a led strip. So I had all leds ok and voltages ok, but the problem was a connection! CHECK CONTINUITY BETWEEN POWER SOURCE AND LEDS, ALD BETWEEN LEDS. A simple bypass between strips and the TV is back on!!

Hi, I have a 50 inch Hisense Android tv, 50H8G, board number 261423, 261424, RSAG7.820.9615/ROH and I was wondering if there was a bios chip on it. If not, what component on the board does the firmware write to. If it wrote to an Ic chip then I could unbrick my TV and write directly to the IC. My TV has a white light of death after an update and I tried all fixes and nothing works. Thanks

What do I need to check on an LG 55LN5100-UB if the screen is black but audio works and you can see video once a flashlight is pointing towards the screen?

You can also check at the two pins that are shared by the two high voltage caps next to the connector. Confirm using continuity which pin goes from connector to cap. Mine reads 300v so time to rip out front panel to get to those pesky LEDs.

+shopjimmy i have a strange case with a Hisense LTDN50k220WSEU. The TV works properly but the backlight doesn't. The backlight flashes just for a moment when the tv is powered on and then nothing more (zero volt at the connector). Disconnecting the backlight i can see for roughly 20 seconds the right voltage at the connector but then it goes down to zero volts. I would like to have your opinion about that because i think that the leds are actually fine and i would replace the power board or try to find the problem on the one of the TV. What do you think? Thanks

I have a Hisense 50H5GB, No video but I have sound. I can see picture with a flashlight. I replaced the power supply and with both power supplies I get only 2volts dc when I test the LED output socket. Leads me to believe the LEDS might be good and it would be the mainboard? Does the main board control the voltage thru the power supply to the LEDS?

Hi, thanks for the video. I have a problem with my hisense led tv maybe you can help me. Its a LTDN50K220WSEU. I turned it on and after 10sec it maded some noise like pzzz and then a little explosion and black screen. There was also some burning smell some days already. Now when I turn it on, comes the normal blue light but there is no image and no sound. The power supply makes some noise and then stays still. When I power it off again with the control, the power supply makes some noise then turns the lamp red. If I change the whole power supply maybe it explodes again right? I did the test with the tv pluged in and got like 1.5v The output voltages were also wrong 3v in place of 12 and 13 in place of 16v. A bad backlight can broke the power supply?

200 v is way beyond normal. I get 23.5 V. This video is very misleading. But I think power supply bad not giving other correct voltqges.

One led is 3.3v, a strip has 6 leds so it should be around 20v. 10 strips of 20v led serial is 200v, right? How many leds do you have in one strip? maybe 7? And maybe the leds on your model are connected in parallel. On the other video he showed how to replace leds, it looks like there are 11 6-led strips connected in parallel. But that's a 50" model. I am trying to build my own power for the leds so I need to know the spec and schematic too...
