Thank you, Brian, for being the first one to do the review regarding this TV !........ IMPORTANT FACT FROM MYSELF AS PREVIOUS OWNER OF THE 85UX. Unfortunately, my 85UX "BLEW OUT" losing picture and with just sound in 30 days. The biggest question is with a TV this expensive as it is, what kind of quality control had this tv received before packaged. I want to praise Hissène for working with me regarding retuning it to their lab for evaluation. I did not opt to replace the TV as no reviews were being done during the time I purchased. It was an incredible TV and I was able to purchase it for $4,000 when first introduced making it a great buy. The TV looked just beautiful, and I would consider another Hisence TV if they tighten up their quality control standards especially if they wish to win in the high-end TV market. I had friend who purchased a 85 inch 8K Samsung and had to return them 3 times for problems right out of the box. I have my eyes currently on the Sony X95L as maybe a better choice with quality control at the moment but would reconsider the 2024 Hisence that will hopefully be an equivalent to the 85UX but with better quality control standards.
I’ve spent months scouring the internet for a review on this tv. Thank you so much for including the UX in your list of reviews. It absolutely did not disappoint. Has to be the best looking picture I’ve seen on an LED to this point. The contrast and saturation are incredible. Hope to see more of these in different sizes from Hisense next year. Nice work Brian!
You really out-did yourself on this video Brian! ABSOLUTELY amazing television that looks incredible...🤩...I honestly didn't think any tv would look better than the Sony X95L BUT...I don't know now! 🤔...Gorgeous, very premium looking set for sure...$4,999 is befitting of a tv of bringing so much to the table as this Hisense...It'll definitely will be between this and the stunning X95L as our choice.Thx again Brian as you are light years ahead of ANY reviewer! ❤
I've never watched any live event because I like to watch videos at my own pace and skip ahead sometimes, but I'm going to try to watch this one because I'm very curious to see the first inkling of how this might stack up against the X95L. Also, this is one of the only channels that caters to all types of users.
Work is done for the day, and I’m finally able to sit down and watch this one! Thanks Brian! Edit: Wow, this bad baby is thicker than a snicker! Nice to see a robust set being manufactured in today’s market of mainly thin ass panels.
I feel like most TVs look great with this high resolution content. I mostly watch low quality streaming like RU-vid tv and the one of the most important thing for me is upscaling and fast paced motion.
Thank you Brian. I'm absolutely thrilled with mine, regardless of the source material. This is from an OLED fan who was going to purchase the X95L this year for more brightness and punch. I really felt like I was taking a chance, but it's totally paid off. So happy!
nice X95L my plan too. now only having a bit of blooming and bit worse colour range - in exchange for not having all the OLED issues (lower fullscreen/larger/SDR brightness, ABL making even dimmer, burn in hoops for both you and the tv, organic pixel degradation over time anyway, ambient light activating QD quantum dots and destroying some of that infinite contast, black crush etc)
Looks great Brian but my main concern is the high rate of failures of the Hisense units. I know this is their premium unit but still.... I'm inclined to go for the X95L with Sony's better build quality and best processor on the market. Would love to see a comparison of both.
I was looking at the UX, but my wife and I ultimately went with the 75U8K and we absolutely love it. The 75-inch works perfectly in our living room, and to be honest, an 85-inch would probably be too large. Great video, though! The UX looks to be exactly what I had expected. ^^
Hi Brian, another great video, the Hiense looks great, I’ve a 85” tv just now and I am looking for a new tv over 90” which one would you recommend thanks Oz
The neutered "Gaming Info" is identical to the U8H... not sure if they will give this TV the better Game Bar like the U8K has down the road. But the Display looks phenomenal.
I guess I don't understand what gaming features it's missing that rule it out for you.... If it looks good (4:4:4 at 4k?) and has low latency and no discernable negative things like ghosting or anything, I'm not sure what else you need really. I want to play my game, not fuss around with some game bar, and I game on PC as well. Not having 144hz or better is kind of a bummer though, consider it's lesser siblings do have that. Maybe next year's model will correct that. A 240hz mode (even at 1080p) would be nice too.
How do you wall mount this tv? I don’t see no opening on the back for a wall mount or those screws need to be unscrewed so you can put a bracket on it?
Can you help, I'm deciding between the '23 Hisense UX 85" and the '24 TCL QM851G 85" mostly dark room and only one person (i.e. narrow viewing angles). Comparing from a line of OLEDs (currently S95b) but want larger size w/o breaking the bank.
When are you going to do a QM8 vs U8K side by side in-depth video? I would love to see a side by side comparison in vibrant color modes like your other videos. Could you also show the difference in smothing and upscaling of both tvs? It can help a lot of people who are on the fence like me and are not able to go to the average store to see a side by side comparison. Which tv do you recommend sitting 14' away and under $3000? Is the S90C too small at that distance? Is the 85X90L worth considering over the 85QM8 or the 85U8K for the average person that mostly streams everything?
Yo B this TV looks awesome even on my phone damn. I watched it on my TV too and I could not take my eyes off the screen. If this tv had more gaming features it would be a dragon slayer easily. 😊 I can picture you having this tv if gaming features were more to your liking. 😊
I don't feel they are ready to sit in the mix with the big guys costing the same. Meaning if they would cost like a Sammy, Sony or LG. I wouldn't choose a Hisense or TCL. I don't feel I would. They still have issues and not as good in processing yet, IMO. But they are definitely getting better and they also try to innovate and push more for zones and miniLED etc. So that's a good thing. It helps keep the other ones on their toes. Feels like Samsung now has to try and go for the 5,000 zone count. So will be interesting to see what 2024 offer. Also would be great if TCL and Hisense does make it more 'standard' high end with these zone counts for next year. I would still choose an 85" X95L over this one. It doesn't even have 1000 zones, but I bet it would look basically as good at blooming control. And as for picture quality it would be better hands down. My wish would be a Sony that would have twice the dimming zones and still as good of an algorithm. Because the magic they can do with that. Would easily beat a TV that does 5,000 zones but not as good of an algorithm. I like how Sony prefer to go for image accuracy and shadow detail. But that said, can you imagine a Sony with 5,000 zones and if they could still have processing power and control. I would say OLED would go bye bye. The micro contrast would be OLED like and image processing. Would be no point for burn in machines. I am curious about the Sharp XLED, as well. Don't think that one would beat Sony, but would sit close to it, also feel it strives for more accuracy. Need proper review and comparison between the two and both filmed optimally so each can be shown at their best. But no one does it.
I don't know what you mean with not enough game settings. It has all of them that is needed. Just a different look. It even had black level and white level to adjust it (more advanced than 'black equalizer' ). Only thing missing is a bunch of picture presets that end up a gimmick because most people just tune it to how they like it and use that in the actual picture settings. If any change needed then one just goes into menu and tweak it. You say you game on PC and so do I. Why would we need a "game bar" that crap is for console not PC. We have tons of game information settings far FAR more in depth than a TV. Just use Nvidia GPU information and you see it all down to CPU and GPU Util and clock rates and temps etc etc. Changing aspect ratio we do in Nvidia or AMD control panels and set up custom resolutions. Also if it has good input lag at 60/120 hz that sits among other TVs. There is nothing saying it couldn't be as good as a gaming TV. Just because QN95C can make things extremely over saturated it doesn't make it a good gaming TV. OLEDs of course can have faster pixel response times, but people choosing MiniLED does so for a reason or everyone would be on OLED. I actually like how minimal it was, the "game information". Put it at bottom middle and that's all that is needed for a quick glance if VRR and HDR is on and FPS. Not some gaudy gimmicky looking crap like most game bars that take up 80% of useless space for the information you get in return.
It's just a matter of preference. No one is right or wrong. I play on PC and PS5 and I don't need presets or a game bar. All I care about when gaming is a great picture, , color volume, smoothness, HDR, VRR, local dimming, latency, brightness, and can I see the FPS. That's just me. If someone wants a game bar and presets, that's their preference. It's great that there are several great gaming TVs out there.
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPYI have only seen the X95L in some reviews and it looks phenomenal! On the other hand, in your preview, the UX also looks amazing! That’s why I can’t wait for this premiere!! I know it will be great because you always do a great job!!!
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY Does the UX have a different picture processor? Or is it just the same as U8K but with "5,000 zones and high nits" costing more. So, if it's the same, then the Sony would be better. If it's a brand new Picture processor that somehow all of a sudden matches the big boys then yes it would be interesting. But that isn't the case though. 5,000 zones doesn't automatically mean better. It's like the car world. Often see a 600HP Porsche beat out 1,000HP cars. Because Porsche is Porsche in engineering. It's how it's put to the ground that matters. It is cool though that TCL and Hisense is pushing the tech forward with more zones etc. But the processing needs to come along with it. And I don't think any TV brand has that power yet to really make use of it. Sony does it so well. Imagine their processor having to juggle 5 TIMES as many zones in calculations in milliseconds that is needed to adjust. Sony goes the way of using their algorithms to the max. I am sure Sony could just add a panel with same zone count at Samsung has used for years now. It would be an easy and lazy approach, but it could look worse.
Saw this (2023) Hisense 85UX on sale at Best Buy for $2500, should I get it above the (2024) Hisense 85U8N for $1800? Or I'm also looking at the (2023) Samsung 85QN90C for $2600, (2023) Samsung 8K 85QN800C for $3000, (2024) TCL 85QM851G for $2300. And I'm also thinking about going back to OLED with the (2023) Samsung 83S90C for $3300. I had the (2016) LG 65OLEDC6P & The (2020) LG 65OLEDC10P both of which had burn-in issues. The (2020) C10 less than the (2016) C6. But now that it's 2024 & there's QD-OLED I'm hoping burn-in screen retention isn't an issue anymore.
Brian a question about the Audio how good is the Dolby Atmos especially for movies.... if I got this TV would I need a soundbar if Dolby Atmos is very important to me? I'm looking for sound above my head as well as from sides?
My 2 cents: I feel a top placed speaker produces an unintentional flaw. Dust settles on flat surfaces and with those mini perforations at the top ... that grantees an easy entry point for particles as opposed to say side speakers and underneath speakers.
I have an h9g and A80J. While the h9g is very good and very bright, the A80J is absolutely a more enjoyable TV to watch content on. This review has me wanting to check out a newer lcd to see just how far they have come for myself.
At least you have a choice. Where I'm at, it's either the UX or x95k. I'd probably get the x95l if it were here, but it's not yet, so now I'm leaning toward the UX.
I forgot to tell you I am buying an 85 inch TV from Robert at Value Electronics, he always tells me it’s too bad I don’t live closer and I could look at them side by side, the X95L and the UX and I think a Z9K are all side by side in there showroom. I would appreciate your opinion.
I remember when I bought my 65" Hisense U8G back in 2021 & I kept thinking it was too big a TV and now along comes the 85" Hisense I think I even read they have a 100" one. TV industry has lost its mind.😅😅😅😅😅
Impressive ! These Top Line Model TVs are getting better and better that it's getting to a point you really can't go wrong with whatever brand you chose. Look forward to a full review with stat #s to see if this TV stands up to it's hype. Thanks again Brian. 👍☺
I had this at home for 2 weeks. Couldn’t get the tape mark off the screen. Was worried about damaging the TV trying to clean it (doesn’t come with film sheet over the screen out of the box). Bought a U8K for a fraction and am fine for now. Wasn’t that blown away that it was really bothered by the speakers in the side: “2010 called and wants its Plasma TV back.”
I have the first QD Hisense 65 in H9f it's in my bedroom bought it durn the pandemic here in Canada at factory direct for $899.99 plus tax and it's sending warranty out door for under 1200 still going strong it's a little bit slow in the UI but other than that the pictures very good for the price and Hisense has always had really good black levels I even have a 48 inch 1080p Hisense that blew away the Sony back in the day I'll tell you that in black levels was amazing I also have a 49 inch Sony x950h still going strong as well that cost me more than the 65 inch Hisense 😂 the picture on that is really nice a little a little bit better all around PQ than the Hisense but for the money Hisense is an amazing company for TV's
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPYsound is more important to most though when you consider the cost of a decent soundbar I heard that they're going to be offering a wire subwoofer and rear surround sound next year from the rep I was talking to ... That's another reason why I'm waiting till next year
hi brian. last time i asked about the tv in the background...a u7k. i have a 55 sony 800E in the bedroom and need to choose either a 65 or 75 u7k. at 10 ft. FOMO ssays 85" or minimum 75". would i be happy with a 65? finally, why can i tell how good the UX is on my old sony? it is clearly amazing but i think i see a brightness adjustment when the scene changes, about a 1/ second adjustment. actually i don't watch anything with punchy requirements (hdr?) so maybe i should get an x80k. nordo i game.
The challenge with an X80K is that the local dimming isn't good and either are the blacks. 85" is the optimal size for your seating distance but 75" will also suffice
I'm going to hold off for the N series next year but yea no 144hz is a no for me too but it is very nice. I wonder if the newer model of this one will be able to do 144hz
This tv looks stunning as expected given the hype and specs. There are 2 reasons I will never buy one though. 1. This tv retails for $10,000 here in Australia which will come down eventually but never to a price that makes it competitive with other brands of the same size and quality. 2. Everybody I know that has ever purchased a Hisense tv has complained about breakdowns and reliability issues. I really can't see this model selling at all in this country based on price and brand history. Sad really but it is what it is.... Great vid as always Brian 👍
Not really. I bet the X95L beats this TV when it comes to blooming control anyway. It would be nice for Sony to add more zones, but not until the point where their algorithm would suffer. It's how you use it and control that matters. Having just more zones but piss poor algorithms and control does nothing. I could see same amount of blooming in this footage and maybe even worse than some way lower TVs. I know what to look for and it wasn't "glare" I saw.
@loki76 I'm not so sure about that. On Rtings the U8K performed pretty darn good compared to the x95l. Though I still would go with the x95l over the U8K. Considering the UX is better than the U8K, it will be interesting to see what sites like Vincent, Rtings, and Digital Trends say. I agree though with what you said about the algorithm.
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY I'll be interested in seeing more quantitative analysis to see if anyone would even notice any difference while watching. For example, Rtings rated both the X95L and the U8K 9 out of 10 in contrast and dark details in game mode, the U8K has better black uniformity (though barely), and it has a higher native contrast....but yeah, that Sony processing is just about unbeatable, but being that the UX is better than the U8K, perhaps things like dark details will be impossible to distinguish between the X95L and the UX when watching content and not freezing frames to try to see those differences.
minor correction with the gaming aspect of your review, it supports 144hz if connected to a pc and no current tv supports 240hz gaming at 4k. 144hz is the best you will get which this tv supports
I hope your right as the hdmi2.1 inputs aren't labeled as such . Also the enhance hdmi section within the menu shows no mention of 144hz . While the u7k and u8k do. Thank you for watching
I’m right at the beginning, and the TV already looks impressive, through a camera and through RU-vid compression. Not bad The thing weighs 111 pounds? Jesus, H Christ brother. Who would’ve thought we would live to see flat panels as heavy as CRTs but way bigger it’s almost like a flyswatter if that thing falls on ya, stay safe guys. That BFI looked really good. What I loved was The perceptual increase in contrast, while the image was still bright enough.
Great job Brian , oled isn't for everyone you rarely hear led fans speak up on there opinion that mini led is better than oled, I have 2 friends that. Still don't like oled , they have the sony 8k mini led .
That's because Mini-LED isn't better than OLED. It's just a different use case. Different strokes for different folks. Its great though that now there are great options on both sides of the fence. I prefer Mini-LED for my use case.
Understandable my friend. I'm definitely going to ask Hisense next week about availability in other countries next week in our meetings at CES. Thank you so much for watching
Someone needs to tell these manufacturers Netflix etc buttons is so 10 years ago I want useful features like switching gaming setting options so I don’t have dig in the on screen menus
You lost me at $5K for a Hisense. An 85” Hisense costs $500 more than a 85” Sony X95L 😂 If all you watch is 4K content I’m sure it slaps. It can’t compete with Sony when it comes to displaying lower resolution, lower bit rate content. Edit: I understand it’s a Limited release and it’s basically a tech demo for Hisense. It’s cool Value Electronics has one of them in stock. I think this is good for the LCD market as a whole, as it will push the big manufacturers to step up their game. However I would never ever recommend anyone spend BIG money on a Hisense. You’ll always regret it in the end.
It can't compete at 4K either. I can almost guarantee that a proper side by side the Sony would win in all picture processing categories. Including black level and blooming control. Or at least get very close to it in blooming control.
@soheilnassri2412 Back in 2021, I tested some sdr and hdr content on the Sony X80J at a store and was surprised to see that it had better image processing and colour accuracy than my LG C6 OLED. If a budget Sony LED TV with no FALD can beat a LG OLED, then a flagship Sony model with the latest 4k processor will definitely be better than Hisense.
@@TheAntifluencer How can we tell for ourselves without relying on reviewers? Almost no one has been able to get their hands on the Hisense UX. It's also funny how people say the x95l is better than the UX when they didn't see anyone review the UX yet. If you already made up your mind that the X95l is better, why do you watch the review video?
@@aquaneon8012 No it doesn't. Brian gives his opinions which is based on him cranking colors WAY beyond most people would like. Any TV that doesn't do this he finds is not a "gaming TV". Don't base your purchases on people's opinions. Just look at the specs and stats and most of all try it yourself.
@@aquaneon8012 Brian isn't a reviewer. He is a product show case guy. He just shows TVs and tells his opinions about them. And I don't even recall him said really a bad word about any TV. Because he films TVs Robert Zohn sells. Wouldn't be good business talking down a TV. So it's most just some few things like "he prefers QN95C for gaming because he likes some settings he can use". That has no bearing in the slightest of actual performance of a TV in gaming.
This looks better than the Samsung; I still don't like it because it's made in China though. Either way I'd much rather have the Sony X95L over any of 'em.
@@OnSafari247 Wasn't supposed to. but if you want I can tell you that they use to make iphones, and many other products therefore they shouldn't be looked down upon simply because they're Chinese . If they can be trusted to make great products such as those why is it deferent when it comes to TVs?
Looks like an excellent TV - but I gotta ask - other than cable management - who cares what a tv looks like from the back? If the TV works and I don’t have to add any more cables - I will never see the back of this TV again until I take it down and move or replace it. Reviewers spend way too much time gawking over the back of a TV and I just don’t get it. It’s not like this is a Betty Grable pinup.
I feel like Brian is always saying this might be his next TV every time a new 85 inch comes out and once he “reviews” it at value electronic, he’s like nope, I won’t be getting this tv due to the gaming options blah blah blah 😂. Let’s be real Brian, your all TALK! Lol you were never getting a 5K TV lol. You’ve been saying that your getting a new 85 inch TV for like 2 years 😭
Ok lol I don't need to buy anything. I have patience to wait until everything is released. I know what TV'S are coming out and I can wait. Thanks for the wonderful comment. Furthermore I have an 83" C1 and I've only been in the market for an 85" this year.
I'd personally wait for the U9N . The UX is excellent but felt slightly unfinished . While that is an excellent price for the UX, i also feel the processing has improved this year.
UX is pricy ,for In budget TV brand ..i will go with 85/U8K OR TCL QM8...both f*n awesome TVS , pic, blks & brightness on them is stunning & is Min LED ...specially on TCL QM8 , thats the TV gonna get on blk Friday in 85 inch & that TV is just a WOW factor for pic quality & blks & Brightness can go all the way to 3000nit for that low price is just mind boggling & i bet can get that TCL 85 QM8 under $2 grand on blk Friday & that's f*n steal for that TV👍also TCL next year gonna come with First 5000nit Min Led TV
i would never buy a hisense. we live in 89074 and our week old u8h needed fixed, they wouldn't and said they have nobody to repair it in nevada. returned the tv to bestbuy, don't buy one
Im going to make a car analogy here. This hisense is like the equivalent of a top trim electric vehicle from kia. Yah, its a top trim, so it has the bells and whistles, and yah its electric, and has that instant torque to catch your attention when you press on the accelerate pedal. But its still a kia. Same as hisense trying to catch attention with ridiculous brightness numbers. Majority of content is still at 1000 nit grade, color space capped to dci p3. So, if the specs dont call for the extra capability from the HARDWARE of the TV, whats the point of buying useless hardware. Id rather buy useful SOFTWARE from the likes of sony, like better algorithms, which content will ALWAYS call for. Sorry, but this hisense for 5k, just doesnt make sense.
