Finally found the link between oxalate and histamine intolerance after suffering immeasurably for years. Started carnivore a month ago and have been dumping. I have ups and downs but feel so much better since cutting oxalate out of my diet. I was eating so many foods I thought were "healthy" and they were killing me. This information is groundbreaking. I imagine so many people suffer from this.
The glycinate is good for sleep as it gets to the brain and that's what I recommend for my husband I on the other hand need magnesium citrate due to oxalates
Hmmm - could the oxalates be actually causing the diarrhea instead of the magnesium citrate? Could the citrate actually be a good thing for those of us who are in oxalate overload?
This is exactly the case with eczema. I have been suffering my whole life. Doctors can't help all about this information right here. It has everything to do with a combination of these 2. I have scares all over because no one couldn't help me until I just gave up on eating bread one day and half my problems went away but still linger through my whole life. If a kid could avoid oxalates that would be a whole life difference.
I am so happy I found this video. Oh my gosh I found out I had a oxalate Toxicity in 2017 when I did an elimination diet for six months and been trying to fight ever since! I wasn’t strong enough to go through all the dumping that I went through in 2018. I was horrified at the pain that it was causing me.. Now 2023 changed my life to drinking only distilled water only no tapwater no bottled water just make my own distilled water. I started detoxing oxalates big-time. Oh my gosh I couldn’t get out of bed for two days one time they attacked my knees to the point that I couldn’t even move. I’ll tell you what though I’m strong enough this time. I am determined to get these Oxalates out of my soft tissues and out of my joints once and for all. Thank you for making me realize why I’ve had histamine issues that I didn’t even know I had for years now! And trust me some of the foods I eat regularly were absolutely killing me and I didn’t know it. I just thought it was my fibromyalgia flaring. No it was that avocado dip that you ate at the Mexican restaurant or it was that keto chocolate fudge that you made or it was that sour cream cream cheese, fat bomb that you made. Bless you bless you bless you. Once I get rid of all these oxalates to the point that they need to be gone which could take years I know but I’ll be able to eat shrimp again I’ll be able to eat avocado again hello signed me up.
There is lots of hope. Please get Sally Norton’s book TOXIC SUPERFOODS that just came out. She spent three years writing it. It gives exact diets and amounts depending on what phase you are in, as to eating. It will guide you through the detox on a level that you can tolerate. I have studied untold hours, let alone doing the diet. Sally definitely knows what she is talking about. You can google and listen to some of her videos. I guarantee you, you are better off doing the program slowly and gettig health than suffering without the program. God bless!
🤯🤯🤯🤯 This makes a lot of sense. So much gold in this video and a fairly clear path forward. I had trouble holding the attention of friends and family explaining what I’ve been doing to overcome CFS and Interstitial Cystitis so far, there is no way now I can explain all this😂. They’ll be grateful if I give up trying I’m sure.
The amount of knowledge you have is probably one of top 5 I have seen in my 5+ years of biohacking research career. Thank you for this video. I will become test client of yours for sure. Hello to Australia!
Wow thank you for the first time I think I can understand what’s happening to my body and fix it . Wish I could come to you as a client but live in Spain . Just thank you so much 🙏🏼
I didn't know our bodies make oxalate. According to the carnivore / keto community its from eating veggies. I'm so relieved to know I'm not poisoning myself to death with a carrot or a potato. Its more a gut, deficiency and absorption issue.
Thank you so much for this video! I have a cirrhosis from Hep c and I’ve been taking glycine for sleep and I cut out b6 because I was afraid it may cause insomnia. I know have a stomach full of gas no matter what I eat, and it’s painful. I had never had stomach or intestinal issues before! This all makes sense now!
Thankful to come across this video. I have been getting very bad rashes on my arms, legs, and back since going Carnivore. Hands have always had bad eczema but they have gotten worse and little cuts take forever to heal. Have had bad food allergies all my life. Going to try Molybdenum and Magnesium Citrate. Thanks so much for the good info :)

I really wish you'd look at the camera. You are so beautiful! Thank you for this video! It is incredibly helpful! Literally the most helpful video I have found on the topic. I would like to know more about treatment becuse this is the story of my life! I am the very sick patient who can not eat anything. Can't get out of bed today. I have MS but I know there are many underlying issues causing me to be sick. I do not see the name of the book anywhere.., and how do I find a Dr who knows this stuff?
I'm glad to hear that you found the video informative! Recognizing the need for change is a significant step towards improving your health. It sounds like you've been dealing with joint pain and histamine-related issues for a while. Remember, understanding the root causes and making adjustments can make a positive impact. If you're looking for more insights and guidance, our website might have additional resources that could help. Don't hesitate to explore more at www.joannekennedy.com.au
Thankyou Joanne I appreciate it. I have been on your website and learning alot . First thing is get my gut sorted then see what happens with the pain and histamine . Then I can cut down on more foods to basically just drinking water because that's all that will be left 😂🤦
@@JoanneKennedy do you have more information on "Citrate" products or Citrate/Citric Acid in supplements? As I understand it: none of the "Citrate/Citric Acid" in the last 40 years or so comes from fruit... That it is "Manufactured Citric Acid/Manufactured Citrate" ...made by using a mold/fungal process via corn and corn byproducts and Black Mold (toxic and crcinogen) to produce it... Citrate/Citric Acid has many uses ONE of which is to PREVENT MOLD in food products... My question is: I have severe and fast onset reaction to Citrate/Citric Acid that lasts for several days to weeks depending on concentration even from a single exposure...skin and gut, etc in particular... Is this likely to be a reaction to the lack of purity or black mold toxins in it? Or a reaction directly with the Citrate/Citric Acid itself? Or do I more likely have mold or some other fungus systemically that is producing toxins from the stress of the Citric Acid/Citrate or even the toxins from mold/fungal die off? Hope Oxalate removal will help... Have you had anyone use an Ayurvedic Herb called: Chanca Piedra? I am considering it... Also read about someone using Parsley soup to eliminate Kidney "oxalate" stones .. something about it causing an increase in acidity of the urine assisting in the preventing of stone formation and expelling oxalates before they form in the kidney...but no idea if that helps other tissues in the body... There are days or sometimes just parts of a day where a joint or two might feel like pain inside and then not again for who knows weeks or more sometimes so it seems that I am dumping here and there ... So much valuable information here, thank you so much. You mention you have book but a search with your name only comes up with cowboy romance novels! Is it currently available please as I'd love to buy it?
So helpful! wow! just wondering, what are your favorite type of calcium, is calcium citrate or i have also read about marine calcium? Any supplement recommendation would be great too! I think oxalate may be the cause of my chronic vulva pain!
Please tell me what is the name of your book? This was a great lecture. I’ve listened to all the lectures on Oxalates but I really like how you described the whole sequence of events and what happens with the CBS pathway, sulfation, fat malabsorption, everything! Thank you

Super informative video. My only disagreement is relying on the oat. Its super immaculate with yeast and especially oxalates. It's very hit or miss and wouldn't diagnose anything based on those results.
Hello and thanks for your comment. I agree with you, you can't rely solely on OAT testing to diagnose oxalates and it can definitely give a false negative. I haven't however seen it give a false positive. Careful case taking including history (mould exposure, diet history pointing towards driving yeast - eg. excessive sugar fruit intake, plant-based diet, lack of digestive enzymes, glyphosate exposure, fat malabsorption issues, gallbladder issues, oestrogen detoxification issues at least) along with signs and symptoms of oxalate AND histamine can give you a clearer picture :)
@@JoanneKennedy amazing! I just started my channel but id love to "interview" you sometime so some people in the benzo withdrawal could learn about gut health, histamine etc.
@@JoanneKennedyGreat video! The audio is tough to understand. The echo and the mic quality with the accent? Perhaps a less reflective location for the audio and a better mic?
I was prescribed ortho molecular Digestzyme.. Seemed like it did work at first giving me some normal colored bowel movements but then wore off so i increased the dosage and helped again with normal movements then wore off again.. I stopped increasing the dosage because i was getting a irritable from something in the ingredients. Also noticed more belching and gas after taking this supplements.. confused by this
Brilliant video! This last bout of oxalate dumping has brought with it massive histamine issues. It seems that the excess histamine is also causing me an intermittent goiter. Have you ever seen this happen?
Thank you for this thorough explanation!! This was truly helpful❤️ If you have a minute, I have a question: I don’t seem to have a reaction to coffee or even magnesium glycine, but I do have an immediate reaction to spices. I have been eating carnivore since February of this year, had many symptoms of oxalate dumping and clearing, and I feel great! I also mix magnesium glycine with epsom salt and maybe the sulfur in epsom salt helps with glycine, and total magnesium is around 200 mg and not every day. Do you have a thought as to why my reaction to spices is so strong? I even have a reaction when I am around food with spices even if I am not eating them. The reaction is coughing sneezing and runny stuffy nose, all which seems to be a histamine response. Your thoughts are highly appreciated!
I have this SAME issue. I have since learned I have histamine intolerance, outside of just histamine issues with oxalates. I've been mostly carnivore for...3 ish years now, so I'm well done the oxalate dumping (that was rough) but the histamine intolerance persists. I am a bit more tolerant to some spices now, but it also depends where I am in my menstrual cycle (as my estrogen levels really effect histamine levels)
I have no ileocacal valve so SIBO is an intractable problem for me. Plus missing terminal ileum. So fat ends up in the large bowel & calcium binds with that. I was never warned abou the potential for Enteric Hyperoxaluria when I had my surgery all those years ago - this is something I've only learned about myself while trying to realise why my health has gone down the tubes in the last 18mths. Unfortunately my kidney damage is significant & irreversible. Learned a lot in this video thank-you. Situation is also complicated by hashimotos, PA, hyperparathyroid issues & adrenal fatigue. I'm not sure about histamines, but I feel like I'm already left with nothing I can eat that won't upset one condition or another. I am collecting autoimmune disorders in the last 6 months, like a stamp collection. :(
@@YIO777 Thanks for your reply & kind wishes. Ah I'd love to see an integrative/FM Dr but there is only one such practioner within a 9 hour drive in my country & she has a waiting list of 6mths, just for an initial consulation. Plus her hourly fee is $450 & you also have to pay an annual subscription. Every test is charged for too, & some can be in the thousands. Insurance companies do not cover such practioners & I don't have insurance even if they did. Not many do here...
@@madcatter972 search for Dr. Elie Jarrouge. He will do a 30 minute free consult to discuss whether or not he thinks he can help you…but his goal is always a life lived well without Rx. He also doesn’t take insurance, but that just means he isn’t contracted to treat you according to their parameters rather than what is best for you. I did 16 weekly online video visits and it cost about what my insurance deductible would’ve cost.
My husband has suffered from gout off and on for years, deposits of uric acid in joints. So for years the doctors told us that he couldn’t have much meat due to the purine in the proteins of the meats which deposit uric acid. He’s been on medication to help with it. We started keto 5 months ago, I know it goes against the grain so to speak due to the history of gout. So, now I wonder if oxalates have caused issues for him as far as the gout is concerned? Would love discussion.😲
I’ve had 7 colds in the past few months. They started over a month into carnivore when I stopped drinking coffee. Every other week I seem to have a cold for a day or two. Is it oxalates or histamines or is my immune system crashing? Really would appreciate some help❤thank you
I am pescatarian and I don’t drink milk, but I eat other dairy products. I have kidney stones, chronic UTIs, and calcification on the kidneys. I’m suffering from constant urgency and pressure pain. What can I do to rid my body of the pain and urgency?
So what all bloodwork would be ideal to test for with these issue's? Ive battled with gout and kidney stones in recent years and have for many food triggers. But I would definitely like to fix the source of these issue's.
I just found your channel and this video was very informative. I have a question and was wondering if you could tell me if having calcium oxalate crystals in my urine means that I have an overabundance in my body? And if not, why would they be there? They were found on a routine urine analysis, and I have no symptoms or pain of any kind, but I do consume very high levels of oxalates due to my plant-based lifestyle and high consumption of nuts and almond flour (which I will be stopping) I am 65 years young and consider myself extremely healthy (or at least I thought so until the crystals appeared) with walking 5 miles per day 7 days a week, intermittent fasting daily and no processed foods. Thank you so much! xoxo Debbie
So… i have a question. I am 47 relatively fit man and I think i developed an oxalates issue which leached calcium from my ankle ( talus) and caused the bone to give way. I deduced this from Sally K Norton when she said you might get a big toe gout symptom but not have gout, which i did. I also was prone to general malaise, inflamed joints, depression and furious bouts of either just leg or full body itching. So after some years i learnt about lectins and oxalates and radically changed my diet, first keto then carnivore. Many good things have resulted including much reduced pain in my ankle , lifting of depression and general health BUT my itching is still with me ? Am i flushing ? Will calcium and magnesium citrate aid in decreasing the itching or will it just increase the flushing and make it worse ? Maybe an anti histamine?
This is really useful information, thank you. Even if it does send me further down a seemingly infinite rabbit hole with my health issues. Tests have shown I'm deficient in Magnesium, Folate, B3 and B6. I strongly suspect sibo, have histamine intolerance and am sensitive to oxlates. I seem to react to a lot of supplements with extreme fatigue and heaviness in my gut including with Magnesium and B3 which I'm deficient in. What could be the reason for that? Concerned if I start B6 and folate I'll have the same problem.
Thanks for the information, I have a list of oxalate symptoms longer than your arm but I had no idea it would be compounded by taking magnesium glycinate ( even though I'm currently taking calcium and magnesium citrate).
You are right thank you . B6 increases my blood pressure and i do not have a deficiency in B6 either. B vitamins give me reactions , same for glycine it gives me tinitus and insomnia. it is not oxalates only but carboxylates too. all b vitamins raise my uric acid . Gut needs work .Calcium is a great relief Thank you
Try hydroxy B vitamins. Many can't take the methyl B.s.. Cause me anxiety and fatigue. I have 2 MTHFR genes and been advised may be why cant tolerate methyl b vitamins.
Make sure to avoid as many seed oils in your diet as possible. Avoid/Eliminate: Corn oil, Canola oil, Soy, Sunflower, Safflower, Cottonseed. Use tallow, butter, ghee, coconut oil instead.
I am sooooo sad that I have give up nuts because I am already restricting so many other things :( I love dark chocolate and nuts. Oh my goodness, no mg glycinate. Wowwwww :( Oops!
Got some regular Krampaid at Amazon, and one 16 oz drink of water with 1 tsp Krampaid drank over an hours time and all pain, symptoms of dumping GONE👈🏼👈🏼
I did a good bit of research before settling on Mag glycinate. It seemed like the best bioavailability wise and was recommended by many I listened to. I have been taking it every night for 6 months or so and it has helped me with sleep a lot. I really need to look more into this advice you’ve given here about avoiding it and taking the citrate form bc I was told that was the cheapest and most plentiful form and was also not very absorbable when compared to the glycinate. This is a curve ball for me :(
@@viewer6912 I am still taking the magnesium glycinate (Luma brand) every night. It helps with sleep , leg issues and my heart issues. I’m not saying it fixes it all of course just saying it’s noticeably better taking it.
I just found your channel & appreciate all of your info. Doesn't mag citrate cause diarrhea? I have histamine issues & high homocysteine - what can I do?
Yes, My husband has Crohn's Disease and short bowel, he was told to take Magnesium glycinate to help with oxalate kidney stones because the citrate would increase the diarrhea. He has tons of trouble with oxalate stones and he has kidney disease as well.
Can i get trusted safe answers on how to detox the amalgam poisoning from a mercury filling I had in my mouth for two years and now got the tooth pulled out instead of drilling to be safe. It is the main root cause of my all problems and sensitivities I never had problems before dental work

Great video Joanne, thanks. Is there an alternate Magnesium other than citrate that's effective at not raising oxolate levels? I've got Crohns and a bit of gastritis and citrate can be a bit harsh. Thanks again.
You may want to try a topical magnesium, as this can be well absorbed and bypasses the digestive tract. MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE is absorbed very well when applied to the body. Make sure to rub some of the oil on the bottoms of your feet as well. For a bath or foot soak... you may want to use Epsom Salts ( magnesium sulfate). Good source for additional sulfur. About 2 cups in your warm-hot bath water. Make sure to stay in the tub for at least 20 minutes.
Hi Rob, can I ask please, by pain do you mean arthritic pain? Dealing with this as well. Going low ox may help us. But there can be other causes for our issues as well of course.
So when I did carnivore, I felt the worst I’ve ever felt. This was so weird because I’ve done keto for a while and had previously done vegan and vegetarian and juice fasting, which all came with their own side effects, of course but moving into straight carnivore was unbearable. I literally had stress dreams and nightmares every night. I was constantly breaking out All over my body, I had a headache that would not go away, and in fact, it literally got worse with each bite of steak. After a month, I just couldn’t take it anymore. I’m wondering if I had to do with oxalate now, but I haven’t met anybody else who had such extreme symptoms.
If you were eating ground beef, egg whites, dairy, bone broth, leftover meat or aged meat, drinking coffee, you were likely having a histamine reaction. The best approach for me as a person with MCAS/HI, hyperoxaluria, mold toxicity, SIBO, etc. is to use an air fryer or pressure cooker and cook from frozen and use beef tallow as my only fat. 8-16 oz steak/meal sizes at a time, only. No sitting around. The body likes mono meals and simplicity. I hope this offers some support.
All very informative, thank you. I just started a carnivore diet and had a histamine response (hives). I’ve had issues with yeast, hashimotos, hypo thyroid, leaky gut, inflammation in the form of skin issues, probably insulin resistant too. I don’t know where to start. It’s possible I don’t digest fats that great, but I don’t know how to tell. Do I just cover all the bases and take digestive enzymes, Sam-e for methylation, magnesium citrate, and B6? So much going on… I have no idea what my issue is. Is it merely oxalate dumping from over-consumption of plant oxalates? It seems dangerous to continue the carnivore diet, given this oxalate and histamine problem… I would love some advice. Thank you so much!!
Same with me. I started developing histamine intolerance on a very low-carb diet. It got many times worse when I tried to do carnivore, so much so that it's debilitated me for the past couple of months. Because of my insulin resistance, I have to stay as low-carb as possible, and am now reintroducing some vegetables into my diet.
I was doing carnivore since Jan 1 and had bad histamine response. A few weeks ago I discovered Dr. Eric Westman. He has a page 4 list of foods that are allowed at his clinic for Keto. I started following his protocol and I’m doing great. I do avoid those foods on his list that are high oxalate. Good luck!
I had that issue but it's much better now. It takes some extra work but what worked for me was researching/ordering online meats that were frozen immediately after slaughter and freezing just prior to eating, never eating leftovers. (Us wellness meats is my fave) I take beef kidney and thymus with each meal for the DAO, and also quercetin (not strict carnivore). SUNLIGHT helps reduce histamine so I always prioritize getting out in it, especially when I feel the worst. I've lived in mold which is a root cause but that's harder to address, always wise to move if you can. I moved and histamine issues disappeared but had another exposure when forced to move again and they came back. Hope this helps, good luck and many blessings 🙏
