I think the vowel confusion comes from the weird english orthography around vowels (See: great vowel shift and all that...) The letter i is in any other european language pronounced the way English people say the letter e. So the pronunciation is [hɪtlɐ] or for the anglophones Heetler.

You mentioned how different family members can go so differently. My Mom was one of six kids. They had nothing growing up. But they had loving parents. My Mom's family was so low on the social totem pole, that they were not on the bottom, but below the totem pole. They were looked down on a lot. My Mom was never bitter on how they were treated, and neither her sister. My Aunt ended up teaching school in Japan in a international school, and the students LOVED her because how she cared for them. One of them traveled all the way from the Philippines to go to her funeral when she died of cancer. My Uncle on the other hand, is an extremely bitter man. He is the complete opposite of my Mom and Aunt. He is very selfish and only thinks of himself.

Hey Chris! Congrats in advance on 25 thousand subs! Also, The History Channel just began uploading their old show Battle 360, which documents WWII from the perspective of the USS Enterprise. I think that would be a really cool reaction series if the History Channel is on board with it. The episodes are an hour long so you might need to break it up, but I think it would be worthwhile as the show was made just in time (2008) for the CGI to hold up to modern standards, as well as have a bunch of the crewmen from the Enterprise give live interviews to tie into the story. If you only want to do one episode instead of like 10 hours of reactions the second episode covers the battle of Midway in a really great way! The series has nothing but good reviews on IMDB and on RU-vid.

Fun fact: Since the jewish family doctor of the Hitlers, Eduard Bloch, tried his hardest to cure his mother charging only reduced prizes and sometimes even non at all, Hitler had a tone of respect for him. When the Nazis annexed Austria, Hitler made sure that Bloch would stay as unaffected by the prosecutions of the jewish population as possible (which worked for the most part but not completely). He even wanted to make Bloch an "honorary aryan" to ensure his safty and that he could continue to work in the Third Reich. But Bloch refused since he saw it as a betrayl to his faith and migrated to the US, where he died on June 1st, 1945.

Not always. It is easy to claim modern art is easy to do but many peaces are complex in ways that hyper realism didn't have. At the same time... Abstract art was great before WW2 as well.... Regarding Henry Tandey, it is said that in a meeting with Chamberlain, Hitler told this story and had a painting of it in the room of his house Berghof in Berchtesgaden. However, there is a chance this story was forged, as Tandey was a war hero and wasn't currently there to dispute anything, Hitler could have used his name and the story to make himself look more friendly and grateful. Even if it is true, Hitler still "used" the story in addition to his good speech talent to manipulate Chamberlain. The meeting where Hitler would have told the story was the first of the three in-person meetings with Chamberlain on September 13 1938 following the Sudetencrisis.

"He went on to say that it was the best time of his life" Now thats how you know how demented he was. The front lines of WW1 were nothing but a human slaughterhouse for both sides. Nothing had ever been seen like it in previous wars. Soldiers fighting with modern warfare tactics and equipment with an old school war mentality and he enjoyed it. Wow he was a horrible human being but he must've been a good soldier to not only enjoy WW1 but also be awarded with the Iron Cross

@skaterpulse6746 2 года назад
@@LightgreenLP For Churchill yes. He was one of the main majors for the Gallipoli landings which was basically a slaughter of British and ANZAC troops so for him to say that he enjoyed the war while he was basically exempt from combat that left alot of soldiers mangled, shell shocked or dead is a bit fucked up
@slome815
@slome815 2 года назад
@@skaterpulse6746 Churchill was dismissed as first lord of the admiralty after the debacle in Gallipoli. He joined the army and did serve on the front for a while (coincidentally, in the belgian town where the bricks of my house were made). And there are a good amount of WW1 veterans who did in fact look back with joy on their time during the war. Especially in Germany, where they often ended up broke or even homeless after the war. But even in the allied nations there are examples of this. Not every sector was Ypres, the Somme or Verdun either, and some veterans just missed the camaraderie they had during the war.

I think some people should understand the context. You are an historian, someone who is definitively going to expand considerably the story told by the videos and give more perspective. People, he is not a common streamer that will just kept quiet or just say "oh, ahhh, woah". In fact, that is what makes these things interesting in the first place. If you watch a video about an historian reacting to something, you are here because you want to see how that historian will compare the contents of the video with the knowledge acquired so far until now, and see if he gaves an approval to it or not, perhaps even now knowing new parts of the overall puzzle, because we are always learning new elements. We are constantly evolving in that sense, we are never the same persons as before, as the famous philosopher Heraclitus said in one of his sayings: "Nobody can swim in the same river twice". I think that if a person wants to have the reactor to just say "oh, ahhh, woah", I would suggest to look into other youtube channels.

Speaking of what you said pre-viewing, about visiting the Spottsylvania/Fredericksburg battle site, I'll make sure to look that up because I happen to drive to Fredericksburg for a regular doctor's appointment, and every time I cross that bridge over the Rappahannock I think of the Union crossing that under heavy musket and shelling. It's hard not to think about, like history happened right there.

Adolf Schicklgruber in 1876 took the family name of his stepfather Johann Georg Hiedler, but a clerk changed it to Hitler - either it was a simple misspelling or on purpose, as the word hiedler (~peasant) had some pejorative meaning at that time.
