Gamology, please please PLEASE don't be afraid to help the experts out if they start to flounder or get confused. These guy are experts on Greek Mythology, not God of War Greek Mythology. You could've explained that they confused Ares and Hades, and that Ares is dead and the series is called "God of War" because it's originally about the God of War betraying Kratos. Or that they were looking at Harpies, and the Furies actually show up in a different game. I'm sure they'd have interesting commentary on being given the proper context of what they're talking about.
The guys probably confused Hades and Ares because Hades wasn’t actually considered a god by the others, considering he was a total douchebag. Him being on Olympus would typically make no sense.
@@the-mt5ws That's making my point. The GoW series takes names, locations, and basic stories from mythology and then runs wherever they want with it. It's not anything remotely like actual mythology. Kratos for example is the God of Strength and was insanely loyal to Zeus, not his demi-God son. And Hades wasn't considered an Olympian because he didn't live on Olympus, but he was still considered a God.
@@Juggtacula Oh, I remember reading something on the whole "Kratos" thing: back when the character was created, the creators didn't even know there was an actual minor god called Kratos. They just picked that one because it meant "Strength".
that's been a massive flaw with Gamology throughout a lot of their videos where they don't explain jackshit to the supposed "experts" they bring in so they just sit there with questions that have very obvious answers that can be explained easily.
@@frostsoul4199 It's because, according to the old marines that used to react on here, the people that run the show don't know anything about games. They are business execs that just pull clips that RU-vid and Facebook comments tell them to.
And considering how much Kevin sorbo is an idiot now makes it a lot more satisfying too, really works both ways too, if he was a great guy then it would have just been nice to hear him as Hercules again.
Gotta say, they really should've known the premise of God Of War before they were brought in. The moment they thought Hades was Ares showed they have no idea about this series and it sucks to see clearly intelligent men get confused. Somebody made this comment in a way and I'm reinforcing it.
@@ВладиславБулаев-л3э considering how classic the GOW series is it would've been good for historians to be exposed to it so the can have a basic understanding of what transpired through every game. Not even play the game but to be told "hey this is what happened in each game." There probably would've been a deeper appreciation of the creative direction. They didn't know Kratos opened pandoras box first
@@tiktaco4391 in Greek mythology kratos is not a god. At all what so ever. His name is taken from Cratos who is the personification of power and he's related to TITANS WHO ARE NOT.GODS and his origin story is based of ARES so yea. Regardless the amount of ADULTS who think kratos is a real god of something is disappointing and sad
This was INCREDIBLY enjoyable. Also, I always took the story of Pandora as a critique on the gods' hubris. Cause like, all they had to do was just say, "Hey Pandora, this jar contains all of the evil in the world and if you open it, all that evil will get out and we'll all be ankle deep in evil come morning." and I'm pretty sure she would have left it alone. But they were like, "ohhhh we're sooooooo above mortals, why should we bother wasting time with details?" and because of that natural curiosity did its thing and Pandora opened the jar.
thats the point, the jar is supposed to be a trap. pandora and the box were designed to make the mortals hate epimetheus and pandora for releasing all the evils of the world. it was supposed to be secondary punishment for both prometheus and the mortals
I'm sorry, but are yall really trying to make logical and sensible sense in mondern day 2022???? Racism and sexcism are the true cause and reason, and we are just victims.
For everyone who says why he pronounced Kratos that way it is because he said it in greek and overall they are right in this video because all the god of war games are different from real mythology though it is very much inspired from it . I know that because l am greek, in school and on the internet we have seen about mythology.
They aren't knowledgeable about Greek mythology at all they have a fourth grade understanding Zeus was literally angry and or horny or jealous 100% of the time. The only time he was ever happy was he cheated raped.or was vengeful. So idk wtf they are talking about
Funny how they kept gueseing that Hades was Aries and that those random harpies were the Furies when they were already dead, having been killing by Kratos in other games. (God of War & God of War: Ascension)
One of the things that I enjoyed about the God of War games was that they delt with the mythologies but introducing this Spartan Kratos and his story messed with those mythologies. One in particular example is what they did with Perseus and Medusa in God of War 1 and 2. In GOW1 Ares was attacking Athens due to his jealousy of Athena and Zeus showing favor to her over him. To attack Athens, he brought his army of undead as well as other mythical creatures. One of whom was Medusa. Now it would make sense that Medusa would want to attack Athens as it was Athena who cursed Medusa by turning her into a Gorgon. Now Kratos was tasked by the gods to save Athens from Ares and during that battle he had to face off with Medusa. Ultimately, he won by ripping her head off. Now in the original myth Perseus was the one to kill Medusa using a blade and using a reflection in his shield in order to see her and not turn to stone. He then used the head of Medusa to save his mother from being forced to marry someone she didn't want to and he also used it to save the woman who would eventually become his wife. But because in the game's mythology Kratos killed Medusa before Perseus was, Perseus was not able to save his future wife, so he had to find another way. Perseus then began his quest to reach The Sisters of Fate. At around the same time GOW2 began. Kratos was betrayed by Zeus, saved by the Titan Gaia and they sent him to The Sisters of Fate in order to change his past and stop Zeus from betraying/killing him. While on the Island of Fate Kratos ran into Perseus and then ended up fighting each other as Perseus thought it was a test by the sisters, kill Kratos in order to be granted an audience with them. It didn't end well for Perseus.
What I find interesting is how after the ending of the last game, the game directly points out that kratos existence changed the fate and prophecies of quite alot of things, which is like saying the history was meant to be normal until the writers wrote in kratos which is what happened
Am I the only one not bothered by the whole 'gamology never gives the experts context' thing? It pretty much never hinders their commentary, and it's funner to see their raw reactions.
i can forgive all historical inaccuracies, EXCEPT them making Hera, Hades and Poseidon be just minions full on to defend Zeus. I mean, lets be honest, Hera would 100% supportKratos in secret, and Hades? Why is Hades even there? He wasnt allowed in Olympus and if he got invited just because Zeus needed a mess cleaned up the only thing he would do is send a selfie of him, persephone and cerberus flashing ass and giving Zeus the finger. Also why they made Hades look like that?
Cause Kratos killed Persephone in a previous game. Not to mention Kratos killed Charon the Ferryman in a previous game. He is not really happy with Kratos. You see Persephones dead body in a coffin in GOW3, which Kratos uses as a battering ram.
@@titanhades4331 yes that also made no sense either. She hated Zeus and would never serve him or defend him. Seeing she was raped by him.twice. and she also.didnt.like Ares or hera. Also Cratos even going for her made no sense either. I think they saw she was the goddess of destruction and didn't read up on anything else because it makes absolutely no sense for her to feud with someone murderous. To defend a father that raped her ...TWICE
1:13 I wish you were given some wider context for the series. In a previous game, Kratos absolutely demolishes Charon in a on on one fight, leaving the ferry without a Ferryman.
If you guys ever decide to bring these guys back or do something like similar to this again, I would love to see historians react to freaking Hades be awesome!
Essentially she released all the evils in the world and ending the world itself.. Too true buddy, wAYYYYYYY too true, so many guys doing anything to get their hands in a box... to their own Denise
I mean in the story they were both bad. Adam blamed Eve instead of taking responsibility and being a good husband in the first place. It’s clear that he blames God’s creation and another individual for the problems after he sinned too.
I dont know what these people are complaining about it. I love experts reacting even though they being out of context. Maybe giving context AFTER their first opnion would be cool, but they trying to understand for themselves and calling out what is not precise, is great
I want to see these guys do Fynex Immortal Rising. It's kind of a tongue and cheek take on Greek Myths, but really fun. It unfortunately came out the same week as Zelda Breath of the wild... So many didn't play it until it came to PS+ years later.
It would have been great for them to be told the plot of the franchise and the events of the prior games so they know what’s going on that led to these events.
Love how you guys started them on the THIRD game in the series, and gave them absolutely no context whatsoever to what is happening in universe. Would have loved to have experts break down how the actual series went, rather than being thrown into the deep end and assuming things based on the real mythology despite the divergence from real mythology taking place YEARS before the first game.
Oh don't get me wrong, I love Greek mythology, and I love that these people's reaction to gow3. But I'm a little confused, because I had always heard that Apollo was the god of archery and music. And Helios was the god of the sun
@@sweaspurdoddd5466 True but if that were the case I don't care, I'm a black dude, and, Idk Im just not sensitive on these types of topics. As long as an individual doesn't try to do me or my family harm, I could care less what someone says about my race or gender, I feel like humanity as a species is flawed, and clinging to the past won't change that. Also, I don't think that the " Woke " mob is sincere, it's cool to be down so everyone wants to be.
Yeah when it comes to the God of War franchise, Santa Monica Studios did their homework when creating the gods of Olympus, obviously they had to take creative liberties to fit the story they were trying to tell but otherwise everybody was portrayed pretty accurately as far as myth goes.
Yea so like this game has its own story, So like ares betrayed kratos and was tricked into killing his family so he killed ares then the god's betrayed him then he went on a rampage to kill them. there is alot to explain but its like writing a 1000 word essay
I'd like Gamology to bring them back for a react to Assassin's Creed: Odyssey. Specifically, the Fate of Atlantis DLC which shows Elysium, Tartarus, and Atlantis. Lots of Greek mythology. I want to see their insight on it.
This is the best God of War. I've played many times on both PS3 and PS4. Hope it will be released on PC and I'll play again and again. I hate the new god of war. I can't believe this is the same Kratos I know.
i mean i get that some of this can be confusing, because it's made up lore instead of being factual, but i mean Apollo is the roman version of Helios, how can historians get the two mixed up. i mean that's like confusing ares with mars.
As fun as the reaction was, please edit out the personal views of the experts about politics & SJW garbage out since it's not a part of the content. Calling everything sexist is the hallmark of leftist propagandists.
