Every police vehicles that are out of service should be restored and put on car museum's around the country not in scrap yards to preserve history especially L.A.P.D vehicle's.
You have a great idea. At a minimum, saving these vehicles would at least provide "parts" vehicles for ones being restored. Eventually, no parts will be available if all cars are destroyed.
Los Angels Police Department is one police agency kept the cars in black & white plus still have the same city seal on the door when others across the country change colors & logos. This was interesting, thank you for sharing! 👍🙂
"I found this car in Coeur d'Alene Idaho" as an idahoan I would just like to say that everything here is at least 10 years behind and that car is probably kept in service for a very long time I'm glad you found in such of a good shape
Fantastic job with nice attention to detail; the accessories really finish it. On that note, I have never seen a Motorola Handie-Talkie anywhere near that nice and I’ve seen (and own) a bunch. It’s no wonder LAPD is proud of your car!
What a nice relic, I love this and the 58 EDSELS AS WELL, ITS SAD FORD MOTOR COMPANY, MAKE NO MORE CROWN VICTORA NO MORE MERCURY, AND NO MORE T-BIRDS, GREAT VIDEO😁👍
They were not in " black uniforms ". LAPD's uniforms were/are dark navy blue known ib law enforcement circles as ' LAPD blue (s) " . Only the shoes, socks, gun leather ,neck ties , and cap bills were black.
I'm a retired police officer from LAPD Los Angeles Police Department and I did my probation period at Devonshire Division, year 2 through 5 Van Nuys Division, 2 years at VTD Valley Traffic Division all patrol duties from 1984 until 1991 when I did a lateral transfer to San Luis Obispo Police Department, where I retired on a medical retirement in 2000. The only patrol vehicles I drove during my time at LAPD, was the Chevrolet Caprice and in 1990 we got the Ford Crown Victoria hahaha 😆 😂 nice job but it's hard to believe LAPD was buying patrol cars in 1957 with a 6 cylinder engine hahaha 😆 😊
The 1957 Ford. It has an all steel interior dash to break lots of bones in your body, in the event of a car crash. The Optional seat belts and a hard rolled steel dash is the way it was, way back when.
My Larozza, back in 1957' there were near to only 20 fatalities over a whole year in the entire country of the United States. People want to make it seem like cars (automobiles) are weak and dangerous in the past to make their modern cars look good, hence why advertisements show a rinse back which is when they show a 1973 ford and show a model t in the background or a maserati 2019 and a 1980 in the background...making the new one look more refined and better; it is all really a childish trick, those cars couldn't harm much and had safety, I assure you!
@@WitchKing-Of-Angmar i like and actually drive classic cars, but I hate to admit that new cars are a lot safer to drive. Old ones might be big, but they crumple like tincans.
@@PU8698 A 1957 Ford will hold up better in a crash than a 2022 ford, but has little to no features to protect the occupants(depending on if it has the safety package, then it has lap belts and a padded dash). I mean slamming into a steel dash then flying through the windshield isn't gonna go that well.
@@robertstentz2067 Oh, I thought they always had them per Ca. law, CHiPs had 1 in the back window since the 1940's I think. I guess it was diffrent agency to agency then.
exact words of the former officer I know on RU-vid ""the siren was the Federal Interceptor (PA-20). The red lights were double faced Dietz lights which housed sealed beamed light bulbs with red to the front and independent flashing amber to the rear"" 2 недели назад
Mr Robbins... I am now 81 years old and know those cars first hand. I even owned one in 1960 when the Department retired the 57's from service. They were indeed six cylinder cars. Even the Department's 56 Chevy's were six cylinders... LAPD Chevy's did not get V-8's until 1958. The Ford's from 1956 on back had V-8's.

@@KsKaylor The siren, B&M model S8B was re-manufactured by the factory under direction of the late Kevin O'Connell (RIP). Kevin searched through a number of cores to find one with a "period correct" serial number. It is a masterpiece of his work, and produces a robust, spine tingling sound.
