George Edwards is a hero. I for one am so glad he made this video. I was 16 when the B I closed, and consequently wasn't particularly interested in it growing up. Of course i was aware of its importance to Prescot, but didn't have a proper appreciation. As I've gotten older, moved away and Prescot has changed, you are reminded of certain things, or find yourself struggling to remember things you want to. I used to look into the BCR from the road when we walked to my Nan's. If you were lucky you got to see the glow from the furnaces. It was magical back then. Fascinating now.
I worked there on maintenance until I left to go to Australia. When I returned to the UK in 1970, I worked in the newer Electrolytic Refinery, but I see no mention of it I Prescot and the BICC history. It closed in 1976 due to safety issues. John Barber was the boss. Wonder what happened to all the employees.
