On the way back from making videos with Mark Martin in Arkansas we went to Talladega Alabama to visit the International Motorsports Hall of Fame. Inside this museum there is an unfathomable amount of significant historic race cars of NASCAR, IROC, IndyCar, and more. They even have one of the Ricky Bobby movie cars from Talladega Nights! We walk around and show you the cars we end most interesting up close and observe some details others typically gloss over. The famous Michael Waltrip 1990 Bristol crash car is in here. Neil Bonnet's 1994 Talladega flip Goodwrench RCR car, Bobby Allison's 1988 Daytona 500 winning car, and Dale Earnhardt Jr's 2002 EA Sports 500 winning car in its authentic race used state! This place even has Dale Earnhardts former Newell motor coach and Bobby Allisons Piper Airplane! If you are anywhere in the region or have a trip down I20 planned...you NEED to stop at this place and check it out!

Imagine if you were the one to get Theresa to open up and share some stories and things of Dale Sr . That video would be solid GOLD . She would be beloved if she opened up . I don’t think many of us really realize what she lost and went thru . Try losing the love of your life and that’s a small glimpse into her pain

@@justinraystyles3537 that's easy for you to say on the outside looking in. You have absolutely no clue as to what the truth actually is and what she went through. You're entitled to your opinion you're entitled to the perception you deem as true however that doesn't mean it's actually true or the truth and without getting to know her personally or being able to see and experience life through her eyes at that time then you and you're opinion is basically flawed and not very logical.

Walked that museum several times with my dad. Talladega was our yearly trip. Haven’t been to Dega since 2016. That was out last time going due to my dad passing in 2017. Taladega Superspeedway, the museum, and the short track are all bucket list things to do. That track means so much to me. I always felt home down there. I recently went here this summer. I carried my 4 year old son there for the 1st time. That 8 car has quite the history it won the spring and fall race of 2002. I saw the car race in the spring of 2002 when he won. In 2004 I took a trip to DEI and got my picture made with the car in the museum at DEI when I was 18. When I went back to the hall of fame this summer I got my picture with me and my son in front of the car. He now has the diecast of that car. If you look closely to that car there’s no engine in it. That engine Dale Jr has it was gave to him by Richie Gilmore who was the engine builder for the 8 car during that time. The 31 Neil Bonnett car also has quite the history at Daytona and Talladega. I remember seeing that car qualify back in 93. I always thought it was a great looking car.

I stopped by the IMHOF museum in January 2020 and it was incredible. My two favorite things to see where Bobby Allison's 1988 Daytona 500 winner and Buddy Arrington's #67 Chrysler Imperial. The 1988 Daytona 500 was the first race I saw on TV. I was four years old and watched it, mesmerized, at my grandparents' house. I still remember seeing Bobby and Davey finished 1 - 2. Being and old Mopar fan I always appreciated that Buddy stuck with them all the way through 1985, so seeing his Imperial was a real treat. Very few Dodge/Chrysler cars ran after the 1981 downsize so it's a really rare example for the museum to have. I even got a bit under the car to take pictures of the suspension. It had the old Chrysler leaf spring/torsion bar setup and was one of the last cars to run in Cup with a suspension like that.

I walked through that museum about 10 years ago. I was at the speedway that day for the Dale Jarret driving experience they had going then. We drove up the night before so we were about 3hrs early for the driving part. Which in itself was awesome. We drove with 5 of us on the track at a time and I had a lap of over 170mph. Hardest part for me was getting out of the pit box and rolling. I stalled it twice lol. But, that did not take anything away from the intense, overwhelming feelings walking through the museum. So much to take in. I am sure it is larger now too. They even had a DeLorean there when i walked through it. Very cool you two went through there and were able to film.

FREAKIN' AWESOME GUYS!!! Not a week or 2 goes by that I'm not recommending your channel to others. Way back in '82 ( I was 20 yrs old ) through '84, I had one of the sweetest '66 SWB Chevy PU trucks ( full custom cab/fleet-side bed ) you ever saw, that had those chrome steel Broad Custom mag wheels. The truck had totally been restored less than 2 yrs before I bought it from a co-worker. His brother-in-law restored it. He replaced the original 283 with a small journal 327, double-hump heads w/2.02 valves, double-roller timing chain, Holley 4" intake & 750 single pumper, headers & duel exhaust with cherry bombs. Truck still had the original 3.73 posi rear-end. He painted it with the original factory Nassau Blue metal flake paint they used to paint some of the Corvettes from that era. The thin panels between the split chrome down the sides was white, making them look kind of like "racing stripes" on top of that beautiful blue paint. Looked like it belonged parked right next to a '66 Stingray of the same color & stripes. Still had the factory options sticker inside the glovebox door, revealing FACTORY AIR ( Chevy put the AC in the dash plus 4 globe/socket vents, the truck didn't come with an ashtray in it, must've been custom ordered, but of course the AC compressor was absent from the 327 hot rodded engine ), panoramic cab ( big rear glass ), and factory tinted glass NOT "tinted film". He even restored the wood in the bed. My room-mate and I painted the interior steel dash/roof/doors, etc, with the closest matched paint we could find. The truck was gorgeous and ran real strong too. Lord, I was a fool for selling it way back then. To this day, I have yet to see another one in person that came with factory AC in the dash.

Joey should run a throw back to the Fireball 22, to pay homage to the 1962 season! That would pull some old fans heart strings! We need more history pumped back into the sport! Thanks for your part! Taking the reins and leading the way! You guys may not know it but you are becoming part of the sport by video logging the history and stories that would be lost in time! You are earning your spot in the hall in my opinion! Keep up the hard work and we will be behind you every day!

I have that jet black attack Dale Sr shirt, it is mostly faded now. I was 14 at Dale’s last win that year. We had tickets but someone gave my dad better ones so we tried to sell the worse seats on site. 2 guys in their 20s and a little buzzed already wanted to buy them but didn’t have the cash with them and needed to use a ATM, but the ATM’s were only inside the admissions gate. We let them use the tickets to get in, they asked where our seats were and asked who my favorite driver was. We told them and they set off to find the ATM, we went to our seats. About 30 mins later they came to us with the money and gave me that shirt for trusting them enough to get in the gate to get the money. One of the things I’ll never forget about talladega.

Outstanding Video Again ! I could spend many hours at this place. How many Aero Coupe's were there ? Plenty of great history and racing memory's parked and on display . The sad part is that plenty of our hero's are gone, not all by racing crashes either. Keep up the great work finding the history that a bunch of us remember.

This is the kind of stuff I like. As you said back when stock cars were stock cars. I have toured the museum at Darlington a bunch of times down through the years. They have a big collection of illegal items found on some famous cars.

I went to Darlington like 20 years ago with my grandma who lived in SC. It was the middle of the summer and it was during a weekday and they had the gate open right before turn 3 and visitors were allowed to walk on the track. It was super cool being 14 years old and getting to actually lay down on the track and get my picture taken. They had a little museum there as well and if I remember correctly they had DW’s number 17 wrecked Daytona car in there..pretty neat. Thanks for all of these videos!

I’ve been here a few times, and what I love about it is that every single time I go they add something new. I know this footage is over a year old but I hope the new stuff, like the DEI cars, are there when I go back in hopefully 2023! I haven’t been there since pre-COVID. I’ll probably cry if I see that Dale Jr car because I grew up playing NASCAR Thunder 2003 and that #8 car was always up front, especially at Daytona and Talladega!

You and Logan have given me hours of fantastic history nobody realized was forgotten until you poked at it... The Holman and moody and lake speed videos, the awe that you hold for the history is honest. You really dig it. The welds on some of the cars must be fascinating with what you know. You are getting a hellacious education...and I relive my dad's race shop for just a moment and smile. You da man, just carry on being da man and I'll support ya

When I was in highschool I worked for a company that built the wheels for Bobby Allison's cars in the mid 70s. I try to visit the museum every couple years since I only live an hour and a half away. Thanks for another great video!

@@Stapleton42 Broad Wheels Oneonta Alabama The owner started the business in his back yard, I think in the late 60s or early 70s ,taking four wheels cutting them in half and making two wide wheels for farmers to put bigger rear tires on their trucks to hall more weight to the farmers market in Birmingham. It grew into a large operation making custom steel wheels. I personally sanded and buffed and prepped to be chrome plated , 12 wheels for the show cars exactly like the ones on the first Matador you saw in the museum .
